  2. Any maga that tries to make something out of Biden’s clap back doesn’t have ground to stand on. They just look even more hypocritical, foolish, and stupid than they normally do. F Joe Biden was a maga rallying cry for years. I saw it on flags, car decals, memes, and even chanted by thousands at NASCAR events. That was funny and ok for everyone to say but Biden responding to the bad joke at Hitlerfest 24 is blasphemous? C’mon now. maga tries to act so tough but in reality, they are the real snowflakes.

  4. this is a great break down by an attorney in Michigan. As I stated earlier. This is on the reporter. He made everyone look bad when nothing untoward happened. Some reporters are dangerous with their flippant reporting in an effort to break news.

  5. It’s the national indifference to these deaths that both infuriates me, breaks my heart, and scares the daylights out of me. Do people think that they’re “safe” if they live in a state that hasn’t quite arrived at this extreme … yet? It is coming. You might say “no, it’ll never happen here”, but that’s just turning a blind eye to what is very obviously going to happen . Can’t you see this truth???

  7. It's also similar to the 'he gets to be lawless, she has to be flawless' situation. He and his supporters can say whatever they want (and garbage is tame compared to some of what I've heard), while she has to be 100% a lady 100% of the time, while completely controlling what the people around her say.

  10. I was in TN over the weekend and one of my tasks was visiting the various cemeteries our family members are buried in. These go back 170 years. Always blown away by the number of infants you see and yes in some cases you see an infant and mother with same day or close enough dates of death you know that’s what happened. Part of that was simply being so isolated that you couldn’t get quality care but most of the time it was related to either lack of birth control or other options for high risk pregnancies. There’s a reason you didn’t see those headstones after the 1950s.

  11. Why isn't Ben Johnson game planning more for Jaymo to stay out of trouble. The Lions need to fire Ben Johnson. How does he even have a job at this point? And Jaymo was left with nobody out in the world to defend him. Fire Aaron Glenn as well.

  12. I strongly disagree with blaming a reporter for writing a story. Jamo is a public figure, not a 13yo kid. There’s no right to privacy when you break the law as an adult public figure. And there sure isn’t as police making judgement calls. Worthy’s office gets murders, rapes, and Armed Robbery on a daily basis. A news story about a celebrity getting a CCW is not a blip on their radar. He either will or won’t get charged, and it will be pursuant to their policy. And yes, it’s possible that decision will be impacted by the police handing their only piece of evidence right back to the subject. I don’t buy for a second that the next young black man not named Jameson Williams will be impacted by this story though. They’re not name dropping to get discretion like Jamo was. And it sure looks like it worked. Blaming the story is goalpost shifting, plain and simple. Jamo is incredibly immature, and he needs to figure it out, or he’s not going to get a second contract in Detroit.

  13. Agreed. Jake Walman 1G 7A 8Pts, 28 years old, $3.4mm/yr through 2026 Shayne Gostisbehere 4G 3A 7Pts, 31 years, $3.2mm/yr through 2027 I know Walman and Gostisbehere are both flawed players. Ghost's defense and Walman's apparent "issues, whether character or otherwise. But they both bring something to the table. And under $3.5mm each, neither too long of term, is pretty cheap for contributing defensemen like that. You're not going to get top pairing d-men at that price. Instead the Wings have Chiarot at $4.75mm/yr through 2026, Gustaffson at $2mm/yr through 2026, and Holl at $3.4mm/yr through 2026. This is how Yzerman was quoted in July 2022 upon signing Chiarot. https://www.nhl.com/news/ben-chiarot-signs-four-year-contract-with-detroit-red-wings-334796422 "With several expiring contracts we had roster spots open, available, needs to be addressed and we felt we addressed positionally some needs," general manager Steve Yzerman said Thursday. "We needed simply to add players to fill out a roster, but addressed some needs, an important need at center with Andrew Copp, a right-hand shot forward in David Perron and kind of a pleasant surprise in what we consider a scoring winger in Dominik Kubalik, adding some defensemen we think we will help us on our special teams, in particular our penalty killing, and defensively 5-on-5 as well. These are all areas we talked about in the spring, areas we needed to improve upon. With some of our contracts expiring and holes in our roster, we were in a position to bring in new faces and players we think address some of these needs." So much mid. Money was burning a hole in his pocket. Is it that much different to Holland signing Nielsen, Vanek, and Helm in 2016 after Datsyuk walked? At least Yzerman was able to move on from Perron and Kubalik.

  14. positioning and strength matter in defense too, but getting petry to add to maata, chairot, and holl does not inspire confidence that the pro scouting department knows what its doing, or that yzerman has a vision for how the team should play. fast? dump and chase with size? strength? i'm not sure what the vision is other than "wait for my draft picks to develop and in the meantime i will acquire veterans who play sound hockey but have marginal skill (copp, compher, maata, petry) to bridge the gap." maybe i just answered my own question?

  19. I do not like how the defense has been constructed....too old and slow. Would have preferred this trade over the summer and used the $$$ to sign Ghost and not sign Gustafsson at all. Ghost is 31...but he really drove the PP last year Watson has been called up on an emergency basis

  21. So far about half of the things I warned people would happen, that they told me I was being paranoid about, have actually happened. And yet, they are STILL calling me paranoid. "And then one day, they came for me" is sadly going to be the only thing that gets through to some people, and it'll be too late.

  22. Three polls now today (Noble, YouGov - National, Marquette - Wisconsin) showing Harris with leads despite electorates that are very Republican leaning (R +3, R+3 and R+5 respectively). That really stands out.... She's getting leads in individual polls even with heavy R samples.

  26. I listened to Obama's speech again and as wonderful as it is it occurs to me that she left out a few scenarios: -a pregnant woman will not be treated for a lot of illnesses, such as cancer. -in some cases, women of childbearing age might not have access to some treatments because of the possibility of pregnancy (I've heard this is already true in one or two states) -this was true before, and so could happen again: women of childbearing age will be excluded from clinical trials, so that the medical field won't have critical information about how a certain treatment might work differently in women than in men.

  28. I’m not exactly sure how the league treats this rule. There are 29 states that allow permitless carry in which Jamo wouldn’t have committed any crime. Obviously, Michigan is not one of them and he broke the law but I’d have a hard time believing the league would come down super hard on him for essentially failing to stow his registered weapon correctly. FWIW, Josh Gordon’s issues started in 2013. Marijuana was still illegal and a felony in almost every state. A decade later and everything has changed when it comes to marijuana. It’s not a death penalty from the NFL. It’s nothing. They don’t even test for it anymore.

  29. It's a maturity issue, at least in my professional opinion... and you can trust me... I'm an IT guy who reads news stories and random internet posts by strangers. 🙂 Seriously though, it just feels like the kid needs to grow up. Yesterday I was going to make some comment about him Jamo possibly being Titus Young 2.0... but that felt completely wrong so I never made the comment. Young was messed up in the head and it made him do a lot of weird stuff both on the field and off. Jamo just seems to be doing just we likely all might have done in our late teens if we had stupid amounts of money. You act before you think things all the way through. It seems like a good idea at the time so you do it and then later look back and go: "Oh... yeah, um... that was probably stupid." Just for most of us we didn't have enough money to make supremely stupid and we weren't big enough celebrities that it was reported about in the news. Now most of us have matured enough that we actually check the how deep the water is before we jump in. For Jamo he's got everything working against him: He's a little late in the maturity development... he's got the stupid amounts of money... and he is a big enough celebrity that it's being reported. The things that makes him supremely different than Young are these: First, he seems to supremely love the game. He really looks like he's having fun out there and wants to be successful. Second, he seems to be a team player who is willing to do the non-limelight things to help the team win.

  34. Update: I got seven different reactions to the Goff jersey, all positive. One guy started a Jared Goff chant with me. One commiserated over the Bears misery with me (Commies fan). Several just said “Go Lions!” It’s nice to be proud to wear this jersey rather than just getting others’ sympathy.

  36. I don’t worry about that as much as I do just him winning outright. If she prevails I think we will see whining but nothing concrete. There will be no Jan 6 type insurrection. There will be protest votes and speeches, like we saw in 2017 but they will go nowhere.

  37. The only fly in this ointment of a scenario is that, if Trump dies in a state of grace with the base, he dies a martyr, he becomes a saint to the movement, and the charlatans who were in his inner circle at any point will jockey for power to become the new leaders of that movement, and it might work because anyone who was close to Trump would be akin to being an apostle. Hell, it might even be Junior. The inheritors don't have to share his unique brand of charisma. They will need only to have been within his inner circle to qualify. And who knows, there might even be a bit of internecine murder at the top, a la Trotsky or Röhm, which would be a total bonus.
