I don't like podcasts because the podcasters always start out by spendng at least five minutes talking about themselves and I really don't care about them at all. I want them to ge right into the subject matter.4 points

Let's not forget Baddoo making two ridiculous catches in the first to keep the Jays off the board early.3 points

Either you’re joking or else we really need to promote more traffic to the Red Wings section of this board, lol.2 points

I don’t want Santander to beat us. The last I heard he was on a ventilator and in traction in the hospital. i’m only following this on game day. I’m away from home. Is he only wearing a hospital gown?2 points

So, did the Blue Jays pitcher Fluharty get renamed when his ancestors landed at Ellis Island because they were too damn many Flaherty‘s coming to America?2 points

Thank you! I came across that when I went back to one of the Athletic podcasts just yesterday. Well, first it was 3-1/2 minutes of commercials. Then it was five minutes of talking about their own taste in music. Then at the 8:something mark they said, well, we should probably talk about baseball now. Eye roll.2 points

The truth, social tweets will be coming fast and furious within an hour or so. And they will get nastier and nastier as the night goes on. And of course, they’ll be no one who will call him on it from that side of the aisle.1 point

I'll wager it will be along the lines of 'see what a disaster it would have been if you'd elected him'. I don't see how that personality resists going there - and resist isn't even the right word, he won't feel any hesitation at all.1 point

If I had a nickel for every podcast and show I told people I would check out I would be rich. How do people find the time? Someone sent me a link to one of the popular ones and it was 2:30 long. Who can do this? Another friend sent one about “conflict resolution” that was 90 minutes. I listen to chill out and be entertained. Not to learn stuff. I’m being funny of course. These are dear friends. I just can’t listen to this. Maybe I have a disorder. My wife makes fun of me at night as I will watch about 3 minutes of a video on YouTube then move on because I was already bored.1 point

So the win in this game went to the guy we weren't supposed to draft, all the runs were driven in by the guy who wasn't supposed to make the team, and the save went to the guy we tried to give away twice. BASEBALL!1 point

Before the Boise Hawks were left out of the northwest league they were the short season class a team for the Rockies. And I was at a game once where all the front office people from Denver were there and it was pretty impressive. I gotta tell you. We sat right behind them because we decided to splurge that night for box seats. For better or worse these guys all carried themselves like they were masters of the universe.1 point

I think it's far more likely a lot of today's baseball podcasters "grew up" listening to Kevin Goldstein and Jason Parks. That was the model they used and it was wildly successful, so that's probably at least some basis for what they think should be done.1 point

Bert, wasn’t there, at one time, a Rockies affiliate near your neck of the woods at some point? Tri City Devils? We were fans of the Low A Rockies affiliate in Asheville (Tourists) until Manfred & Co. shuffled teams around in 2020. The Low A Rockies affiliate went from Asheville, NC to Fresno, Ca. in that shuffle. The current Rockies manager, Warren Schaffer, was the Tourists manager for several games we saw in Asheville. I hated when Asheville lost their affiliation with Colorado. We had a really good friend that was the Assistant GM with the Tourists for several years. In 2014 my wife and I drove to Hagerstown, MD to see the Tourists win the South Atlantic Championship versus the Hagerstown Suns (Washington Nationals) team. In 2020 Asheville got stuck with Houston when they lost their Colorado affiliation. That’s rock bottom. As bad as Colorado is these days I still like to see them do well.1 point

I think part of it is they feel as if have to talk about music and beer to assure everybody that they are not saber geeks, but I don't care. I want them to get to the geeky part!1 point

I feel the same way about books I read meant for popular non-academic audiences on, however, serious academic subjects like history, philosophy, or science where the author thinks they have to spend the first 15 pages dawdling around assuring you that they’re just a regular bro like you because they're trying not to scare you off. Like you, I don’t care about them or their life history and I certainly don’t need it in a podcast either.1 point

Now that you say it the vast majority of the ones I listento are interview based. I am not in the car enough alone to listen that often and I tried while working and can’t really concentrate. I save them for long drives to TN or even Flint.1 point

If you simply want to watch the second season of the HBO series The Last of Us you shouldn’t watch this video. The series is based on this second game and the series I believe extends into a total of three seasons. It’s 15 hours long and the uploading gamer doesn’t die once when average gamers die 70 to 150 times. There’s also a learning curve of just figuring out how to get from one place to another that takes a frustrating amount of time and none of that occurs within this play-through. It took my son easily 30-40 hours to make it through the game as I sat and watched. There is some horrific and troubling violence that exceeds anything seen thus far on the show in this game. I don’t know how they’ll collapse this game into two remaining episodes and one more season but anyway here it is if it interests you.1 point

watching modern baseball can be frustrating. Olsen should have gone longer. Hell, with his pitch count could have pitched a shut-out. In the good ol' days a no-brainer. Especially, the way the pen has been of late. Hinch always has an early hook sans Montero.lol1 point

I'm all in on Lou and Freehan. I consider Bill the position player MVP of 1968. Denny won but Bill had the most votes of the position players. Mickey brings up a lot of great memories for Tiger fans but he was an average pitcher who pitched a long time. His ERA+ was 104. Led the league in losses twice, wins once. Was consistently ignored in the Cy Young award earning votes in only 2 or 3 seasons. I can't name anyone in the hall who was more mediocre1 point

I remember when I was a little kid, just after the 1969 expansion. I was knocked out by the idea of a team in Montreal, a French-speaking city. That was, in fact, the one thing that got me interested in learning French. One day my family went over to Windsor for a picnic or something. I met a local kid who confirmed he was. I asked him if he was an Expos fan, because, you know, Canada. He looked at me like I was an alien (which, in today’s terms, I guess I was). I’m a Tigers fan, he replied in a what-the-hells-wrong-with-you tone. I replay that scene in my head occasionally.1 point

People talk about the strength of the schedule but sometimes it's not about who you play but when you play them and the Lions have the most "rest days" in the NFL. By rest days it means how much longer it has been since you played vs. your opponent. The Lions have an NFL leading 5 games where they play teams coming off Monday Night Football which is a big advantage. Also only 1 game all season will the Lions be coming off less rest than their opponent and even that is only a 1 day difference. https://www.sharpfootballanalysis.com/betting/teams-hurt-helped-nfl-schedule-rest-disparity-2025/1 point
