All the evangelical people think he’s Cyrus, so it’s OK. All the superwealthy people are getting rich off him, so they don’t care. All the incels think he’ll get them laid Handmaid’s Tale style, so they’re eager for that. The rest of the people who voted for him are those who didn’t follow closely enough and thought he was just another Republican. Those who are truly ignorant of even this probably don’t bother to vote. The rest voted against him.3 points

It isn't that they don't know, it's that they don't care. They, Trump, Fox News, whoever, have convinced them that a Mexican "illegal" picking strawberries is worse than Trump sexually molesting adolescent girls. There will be Trump crossed out in crayon with Biden written in on the Epstein files and the rubes will believe it. I was watching a Netflix doc on the Oklahoma City bombing and it was chilling to sort of see the beginning of this **** show. Of course it was originally blamed on Muslim terrorists.2 points

It seems like every decision they make is under a sword of damoclese because they have a merger pending that needs federal approval. Which is an abuse of power by trump obvs but theyre also submitting in advance2 points

I still don't get how people could be honestly ignorant of how much of a creep "The Donald" was and is.2 points

Bednar is the only one in that group who interests me. We need a #2 starter, not another #4/#5 starter. And Hayes doesn't interest me at all. I'm not all that keen on spending any prospect capital on hitting, but if I were to, he's the exact opposite of the prototype I'd be looking for.2 points

Mitch Keller and Hayes do nothing for me regarding a playoff run. Bednar, sure he's signed through '27 and has a 12+ K/9. I'd probably trade Jung and Montalvo for him.2 points

On what planet does Enns have trade value? Let me explain. He's 33. He is making prorated 7 figures, is out of options, is clearly limited, and is eligible for free agency after the season. You have no control, no surplus value, no upside. No trade value.1 point

I’m going to miss this game because I’m going to a “real game“ and see the Boise Hawks who used to be in the Northwest League but have now fallen into the independent Pioneer League. Lots of big names used to come through here such as Ken Griffey Jr., Kyle Schwarber, Dontrelle Willis, Gleyber Torres and a host of Angels players. But no more. Both Boise and Salem were dropped from the NWL I think due to the fact that they had sub-standard stadiums. First base box seats $24 a seat in the 96° low humidity sunshine, no shelter, no shade.1 point

That is true... and as a coworker pointed out to me earlier, there are those who have spent the last 30 years watching Fox News, then OAN, and also Truth Social. (and I love that Paul Simon quote)1 point

Super pumped when I pulled a 10/10 purple refractor of a series 2 standard pack at target. Even better it was a tiger. It was Alex Cobb1 point

i dont think his playoff performance means he's a bust or isnt ready or won't be good once he gets here. it doesnt even mean he won't be here out of training camp. my post was made MONTHS AGO in the moment of watching GR play horribly in the playoffs and blow a 4-1 lead to lose the series. a series in which danielson did not statistically show the dame promise that kasper did a year ago. that's all. danielson could have a great camp and come in as a #2 or #3 C and push copp or compher to the wing. i could see that happening. i know having good teammates means you have more points, but i expect danielson to drive more play this year and develop into a better player regardless of who his linemates are. unless he gets stuck playing with justin holl, then all bets are off.1 point

The next 13 games will tell us a lot. Texas and Pittsburgh have very good home records, and then we play red hot Toronto in a 4 game series in Detroit. Then on to Philly to face a NL powerhouse. If we can go 7-6, I'll take it. But our BP is going to need to step up.1 point

Good points, but you also left out potentially missing his senior prom, too1 point

As far as Colbert goes, I am not worried about him, someone will hire him and get a foothold into his viewership. While CBS will be showing 30 minute timeshare ads after the 10:00 news lol1 point

It's a sign that the people running Paramount don't have any balls or scruples. And we shouldn't be surprised if their business suffers for it in the long run. (see: law firms who settled with Trump vs. those who didn't)1 point

I think it's important to remind ourselves that we are not only alone and that, despite him winning in November, the majority of people largely don't approve of this ****. And that success in a political sense needs to be measured; there's never going to be a moment where the scales just magically fall from people's eyes, that's not how our politics has ever been wired... even Bush in 2008 still retained around 30%. But that every little bit does count. As much flak as they got from various elites in social media, that's one of the values that No Kings brought in that it got people out and socializing with others who feel the same way. Probably the most discouraging thing, believe it or not, isn't the American public as a whole and how they have responded since January, it's the elites, particularly in media, who have shown themselves to have zero backbone or scruples. We all knew this was the case, but watching how the Paramount shakedown has played out, how really no price in the negotiation ever seems to be high enough for Trump, and how Shari Redstone keeps saying "thank you sir, may I have another" has been a real blackpill. Bill Paley and Ed Murrow would be rolling in their graves.1 point

Just take it day by day, man. My hopes are that this is the bottom, and this ****storm will swing the pendulum back to better in a few years. Just need to fight and hang in there.1 point

The only logical explanation is that Trump did this to get close to Epstein so he could expose Bill Clinton's crimes.1 point

It shortens games. Given that pitchers are still getting injured at an alarming rate, I am very skeptical as to whether it has resulted in fewer injuries. Are relievers performing better? Again, I am skeptical. Basically, the only benefit I see is that we don't have a tiny percentage of games lasting so many innings that teams run out of real pitchers. That seems like an argument for letting them play real baseball for 11 innings or so and then do fake baseball startting in the 12th. I still wouldn't like it but at least it would only be a very small percentage of games.1 point

Listening to the new Sublime track and I am floored at how much Jakob Nowell sounds like his father Brad, the original lead singer. Wow.1 point

Hey Bert, tomorrow I’m going to watch the Eugene Emeralds take on the TriCity Dust Devils. It’s part of a 70th anniversary for the team and also the 50th anniversary for the 1975 Northwest League champs. Ironically, this is the last season for the Ems, as they have the same stadium qualification problem. 🙁0 points

I’ve had passive s*******l ideations, off and on, for decades. Typically they come maybe 2-3 times a year, and subside after a day or two. Now they’re here for a big chunk of the day, every day. Still passive, which in some ways makes it worse because I can’t even imagine doing anything to relieve the misery. I know we’re supposed to think of ourselves as responsible for our own mental health, but I’m 100% blaming Pig-King and the ghouls backing him for my current state. I just am.0 points
