I hope they're still thin. I intend to sleep with 7 of them my 2nd night there* (*in the communal room of a mountain hut)3 points

They did and had a bipartisan agreement with one of the most conservative senators and Trump told Republicans to kill it.3 points

You should have let Aaron Judge (1500 MiLB PA) and Mike Trout (1300 MiLB PA) know about that.3 points

My guess is that this is roster gymnastics and he will re-sign. Veterans like Skipper are not subject to waivers.2 points

I hope the Packers or Vikings sign Hooker for intel on the Lions operation since it seemed like Hooker had no idea what was going on with the operation.2 points

And this is why he wanted it killed. So uninformed people (ie Fox News watchers) would say the Democrats are weak on immigration and border enforcement.2 points

Right, you can't bank on any prospect being a good major league player, let alone a generational talent. The good thing is that the Tigers have more top propects than they have had in a really long time. This gives them a better chance that a couple will emerge as above average major leaguers.2 points

I had typed something longer but then clicked a pop up ad instead of submit. 🤦🏻♂️ The gist of it was that last year’s team had the sixth-worst injury luck on the defensive side of the ball of any team on record (past 25 years). This figure was calculated on games lost, so did not account for the magnitude of the players lost; on that score Detroit in 2024 may have had the worst defensive injury luck in NFL history. We are all still stung by the way the last two seasons ended, getting picked apart in the secondary. But we are forgetting how dominant the defense looked the first month of last season. The defense is going to win games this season that the offense had to pull out of its hat last year.2 points

I guess I would argue that Judge being 53 on a prospect list is sort of the POV I'm taking. Judge IS a proven generational talent. Where are the 53 guys ahead of him on the prospect list? I just think we need to respect how much uncertainty remains right up until a guy actually does it in the majors. But It is great to have guys doing so well in the system we can have this kind of debate.2 points

Ok, I'll celebrate a game earlier but I will save you a bottle of champagne and lend you my goggles if you want them. 🙂2 points

He also has a low guarantee. I bet they are doing it to keep an injured player, probably Hassanein, on the roster and will sign Skipper once they place Hassanein on IR.1 point

"Waste of resources" is relative, since there are people getting good and paid for participating in this operation, including local governments that detain immigrants in exchange for large sums of money from the Trump government; private prison corporations that run the facilities to detain them; and the various companies that provide services to facilitate the apprehension and detention, all of which creates a clear incentive to detain as many people as possible. But even setting this aside, red hats don't want due process for immigrants because they can't enjoy witnessing any cruelty during court proceedings the way they can watching video of raids.1 point

I am absolutely not getting in a debate over the merits of Nate Sudfeld on an NFL roster.1 point

When I was in France, many years ago, everybody was thin, good looking, and the food was great. Even the countryside seemed sculptured with intent. I really liked it.1 point

The schedule, the very young interior offensive line, the defensive line being banged up and the ever present weakness at edge opposite of Hutch (we all know Davenport will be injured at some point). I can see this being a 10-7 or 11-6 season but being one of the most dangerous teams in the playoffs once the offensive line matures and Alim is back, although I don't think we'll see him back to previous form until '26-'27. I could see a real possibility that this team has a much worse record than last year but is better going into the playoffs than last year assuming relatively good health.1 point

Again gets to why this problem never gets solved: because we can't agree on what the problem is. The process for legally immigrating to this country has been badly broken for years, and it is part of the reason that we find ourselves where we are currently. Somehow this gets lost in all the punitive focus on "they did it the right way" or whatever. Of course, none of what is happening is about illegal immigration really, because as far as the guy running Trump's immigration policy is concerned (ie. Stephen Miller), pretty much all immigration is bad. Particularly for those immigrating who don't share his same level of melanin.1 point

Since he doesn't have a criminal record, he should be given a path to citizenship.1 point

If you end the season in a tie for 1st in the division, and you're the team that moves on to the playoffs while the other team stays home, I damn sure think of it as "winning the division."1 point

And It's just an irreducible reality that MiLB hitting performance only projects so far. You can tear up A and double A, lose 75 pts off your OPS at AAA, lose another 75 against MLB pitchers and suddenly you are a bench player instead of a potential all-star. Maybe a guy keeps moving up the performance path, maybe he hits the off-ramp on the way. You don't really know until he does it. The example of a couple of very good AAA hitters we already have in the system that haven't been able to make the jump to Detroit on multiple tries is more typical than not.1 point

I suppose it has to figure into the overall calculus. If you know you have the guy for 'X' years and then will likely lose him, you don't want to bring him up until you are pretty sure he is ready to hit the ground running because you can't get a first year when he may scuffle or only play part time back at the other end when he may be an all-star. I'd say that consideration probably has to trump any of the carrots the league has set out for bringing guys up earlier. So maybe you offer the player a chance to come up earlier if he'll give you back a year or so at the other end.1 point
