Or.... Leviticus 19:33-34: "When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God." Of course there are other verses from the OT that Christo-fascists cherry pick to justify themselves, so why can't we?2 points

Right. The actual comparison is 6-7 War from Skubal in '26 plus whatever the comp pick turns into in the future, vs the value of 2 or 3 other prospects, which in total still have an excellent chance of giving you less than 6-7 total over any future. If you were a bad team where 6-7 isn't going to get you anything in '26, then take future, but if you are a good enough team that the 6-7 wins gets you to the playoffs and thus a shot at the WS, take the wins and the pick and let the future further out sort itself out.2 points

Here's my problems with Defensive Pass Interference and other penalties that go back to my coaching days. 1) The defense as every right to the ball as an offensive player yet rarely is it called that way. Yet we celebrate when a WR turns into a defensive player to break up an interception 2) Offensive players should not be rewarded for a bad pass or bad route. If the defensive player gets hit by the under thrown ball and made contact with the WR beforehand because it was under thrown/they overran it then to bad you lost position for that ball. Looking back for the ball should have no impact on if it is defensive pass interference or not. 3) Get rid of the no contact after 5 yards rule if you aren't going to call it both ways. Offensive players have to much leeway to make contact when the defense can't 4) Stop with all the automatic first down calls if its not a personal foul. Why is every penalty against a wide receiver a first down. If you insist on doing that then the offense should have equivalent penalties on their side. Example: OPI= loss of down and yardage like intentional grounding.2 points

I agree to this action, but in addition, I think we can cease to be consumers of whatever Products/Companies are advertising on their networks. Harder to do, perhaps, but probably more impactful.2 points

WAR is sort of cruel to 1Bs. He was over 2 OWar in '23 and '25 but got pulled down by DWar numbers, which we've talked about a lot for 1Bs. It's just a place where in my view the stat is detached from reality. Torkelson's play at 1B is does not cost the Tigers wins or negate his offense. He is simply not a bad 1B and whatever his dWAR thinks it is capturing, I don't care about it (e.g I'm not asking him to play SS!) and I'm willing to bet the analysis the Tigers use internally doesn't either.2 points

Days like today really frustrate me and make me hate this franchise and this team. 59 Super Bowls and the Ford family and their pathetic franchise hasn't even lucked into one ****ing Super Bowl. Meanwhile, in a matter of two years post Bill Belichick, the Patriots drafted a new QB, rebuilt their roster from the ground up, and are making a Super Bowl. Meanwhile, this franchise and the smartest guys in the room in this regime are going backwards. I get it, progress isn't always linear. But to see New England go back to get another Super Bowl, to see them rebuild their franchise in two years, disgusts me. Boston sports fans have it so damn good. I don't actually hate this franchise or this regime. It's just so frustrating.1 point

Two part exercise on Skubal / prospect trade possibilities: Part 1: Pretend Skubal plays for another team. Which of these prospects would you trade away for one year of Tarik Skubal? Kevin McGonigle Max Clark Bryce Rainer Josue Briceno Jordan Yost Hao-Yu Lee Part 2: Now revert back to Skubal being on the Tigers. Would you be happy if the Tigers traded away Tarik Skubal for a player similar to the prospect you selected in Part 1?1 point

True, but the difference in the amount of money you and your co-worker gets would probably have a bigger impact on the lives of average people than the difference in the amounts that Cobb and Skubal get.1 point

Doesn’t media coverage revenue get shared among teams already? Maybe it does to a smaller extent, I don’t know. i think deadening the baseball and limiting the impact of the three true outcome game and getting back to a sport where the baseball is in the field of play would have positive benefits to pitching than currently focuses on means to throw the baseball past the hitter. Give pitchers a chance to allow the baseball go into play without fear of it going over the outfield wall.1 point

End of the third quarter and the Celtics have scored 117 points against Atlanta. The Hawks are down 43. Who do they blame now that Trae Young isn't around?1 point

They don’t want it for themselves. But the #1 requirement to be a trump voter is lack of empathy. So who cares if others are hurt. They’ll be fine. They won’t lose their farms or businesses over tariffs. The Chinese will pay for it.1 point

If there was true revenue sharing like the other leagues and players get a set pct of revenues, Salary cap could benefit everyone. With the current system, it would only benefit the owners. It depends what is wanted in sports, an equal financial playing field or complete free market.1 point

That's because they are not religious or spiritual Christians. They are cultural and political Christians. Difference.1 point

Last night at an open mic, the guy sitting near me, whose ego is so unbearably out of control that no one wants to play music with him, was criticizing a performer because a chord he played “should have been a minor chord”. Just shut up and appreciate that this guy has the balls to perform live in front of strangers. I told him that he should go up and perform a song but, of course, he had a list of excuses for why he couldn’t (including “I don’t have a guitar” despite the fact that there were a half dozen high end guitars that anyone could utilize).1 point
