Seeing some firearms rights orgs are taking the correct tack on this shooting. Hearing that from Heather Cox Richardson and seeing that former NRA spokesshill Dana Loesch is calling bad on the claims of the government. Maybe that line has finally broken or is under tension. I am missing my bi-weekly range time today because of the storm. It has been weird shooting wearing my Never Trump gear subtly while everyone in the parking lot has those Gadsden Flag license plates. A good example is my Four Seasons Landscapping hoodie. Its a deep cut.4 points

All I can tell you is that I won't be rooting for any USA teams come Olympic time. I am ashamed of being American now. I think we are the scum of the Earth for letting this happen. Plus - Trump will take credit if an American wins a medal. I refuse to support any of it. I will not stand for the flag or the anthem. **** it all. It's all stupid brainwashing **** anyway. And if FIFA had any honor (trust me, they don't), they'd be pulling out of the World Cup in American stadiums and giving all the games to Canada and Mexico. But nah, they're too busy giving a tyrant his fake little trophies. I think there is a very good chance that 3/4 of the World Cup qualifying teams sit this one out.2 points

The Tigers record has improved each of the last three seasons and the Tigers have made the post season, and won a series, each of the last two seasons. If this trend is the result of having the luckiest SOB GM in MLB, my hope is that the GM continues to be a lucky SOB and gets the Tigers to the World Series.2 points

Kasper had 6 points in his first 47 games this season. He has picked up 6 more in his past 5 games. So 5-7-12 in 52GP for the season to date.2 points

I sat on back-to-back series when he was with Erie and he didn't make contact in anything over 92, if memory serves. It wasn't particularly close either. That report was less than flattering when I wrote it up and I heard it from the org when it was published.2 points

I have heard that there is going to be a couple of plot points that are direct middle fingers Robert Kennedy Jr. this season, so I know which way they lean to begin with. They lean towards fact-based medicine, which is now a political thing thanks to RFK Jr and his conspiracy theory friends. Seriously, doctors have been floored by how accurate the show has been and how they are doing their homework. I can't even stomach watching older episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm because to hell with Cheryl Hines for marrying that jackass.1 point

I see pictures of Alex Pretti in his medical scrubs and he looks like Noah Wyle in The Pitt and I am wondering if they dedicate the next episode to him.1 point

Stephen Miller absolutely could wake up without a job due to political pressure, yes. Which would likely result in scenes like the one we saw yesterday in Minneapolis maybe not happening? I refuse to concede that nothing can change. And absolutely nothing is gained by conceding that things cannot change. And saying that nothing can or will change, logically, says that all of the demonstrations and resistance we see from every day people is pointless.1 point

If politics don't matter, if the consent of the majority is irrelevant and does not matter, then what is there to talk about really? Why are people in Minneapolis even bothering to show up? Might as well turn off the lights and pack it in guys, show's over. I believe the politics absolutely *do* matter. What is taking place in Minneapolis right now is not all that different to what MLK and the civil rights movement did when they faced off with the likes of Bull Connor. The whole point was to use non violence to demonstrate the cruelty of her local government. It worked then and I refuse to say that it is futile now. It's an insult to the people of Minneapolis and Minnesota and it is a disservice to the memory of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. I don't deny that things will get worse before they get better. But they *will* get better. And no, millions of people are not going to die. That's my point1 point

Number 7 : Posted January 17 Here is how I would "fix" MLB and settle the upcoming labor negotiations : 1. Eliminate all deferrals . 2. We don't need a salary cap but we do need a Floor. This will spread the signing of free agents to ALL teams and not just five or six. There are only 30 teams and if you can't spend at the minimum sell and get out. This makes all teams better. 3. Have a "Cap Tax" that is 2 times the floor. Say the floor is 200 million then the "Cap Tax" starts at 400 million and is 100 % tax on the overage and the teams first round pick in the next seasons draft. The tax stays the same each year but more draft picks are lost for habitual abusers. 4. TV and radio revenue share. 40 % of every teams media revenue is put into a pot and distributed to all the teams. 5. No more draft gimmicks. Worst team drafts first etc. Given the "Floor" tanking is less likely. 6. Eliminate the international signing period and have a second Draft instead or roll both drafts into one. 7. Each year the Final four teams must offer a portion of the 40 man roster to the non playoff teams. This would be two rounds. The World champion can freeze 25 players, the runner up 30 players and the other two 35 players Each. It would be an exciting event at the conclusion of the year and help teams be competitive. 8. Arbitration is limited to years 4 and 5 and players are free agents after year five. No draft pick lost or gained. 9. Rosters expanded to 28 and pitchers to 15 to help wear and tear. We need out star hurlers on the filed and deeper bullpens help smartly managed teams. 11. Eliminate the runner on second ( larger rosters assist this) until the 13th inning. 10. Make the contract 10 years.1 point

I wish they had one of these every year - not an expansion draft, but more like a high level rule 5 draft. There would probably be some legal or contractual reasons why it wouldn't be liked by certain parties, but it would make the off-season so much fun.1 point

Cruz is the ultimate coward. In between saying things different in public/private and bailing on Texas when they have a weather crisis, I don’t think we have a bigger coward in politics.1 point

This can't be overstated enough. The standards to get on with a typical state police or highway patrol branch are very very high. Less rigorous at the county or municipal level, but there still are standards. Reporting on ICE and CBP, especially since Trump took over and since they have surged resources to them, suggests few standards at all. Despite all the taxpayer money being thrown at recruits to join. Put another way, the vast majority of these guys couldn't get on with state or local agencies because they don't make the grade, yet the feds will throw out taxpayer dollars at them because they need any warm body they can get1 point

Most of the team is comprised of Avila "leftovers". He definitely cares about this team winning. It's just that I see a lack of urgency to take advantage of Skubal's final two years.1 point

Yes. The theory that Harris doesn't care about this team because it's not his players is beyond ridiculous and asinine. IMO.1 point

I have softened my stance on Morris's Hall of Fame credientials is recent years. I don't consider him a big-game pitcher (not after watching 1987), he didn't "pitch to the score" and I don't care about "most wins in the 80s", but he was the most durable pitcher of his era and was the last of the complete game pitchers. Looking at 1980 forward, he had 165 CG. The closest one to him is Roger Clemems with 118. Even if you go back to 1975, he is still #1. although not by as much: Morris 175 Blyleven 165 Ryan 137 Tanana 129 Niekro 127 Carlton 123. https://www.sports-reference.com/stathead/baseball/player-pitching-season-finder.cgi?request=1&match=player_season_combined&order_by=p_cg&year_min=19801 point

Funny juxtaposition in the KKKristi Noem presser. I'm paraphrasing for effect here: "We had to kill that punk because America and cops are always right and those who oppose the Will of Trump are going against God's Plan(tm). Also, snow storm is gonna be a problem because he wishes to punish the people who don't love him or Trump enough and so we will try to help those who do love Trump and God."1 point

Celtic karma. They won Friday night on a bad defensive rotation at the exact same spot on the floor. Bad rotation from White gives the Bulls an open shot to win it tonight.1 point

The R need 8 Dems, and Cortez Masto, Rosen, Kaine and Durbin, who all voted to end the last one, have come out against today (likely as a reaction to the events in Mpls). And that's just *so far*... So yeah, there's a pretty good chance it can be stopped in its current form at least.1 point

I cannot imagine the horror of having your kid murdered, and then watching the government come out and slander him and drag his name through the mud because his existence in this very moment is inconvenient to them. Just an unimaginable horror1 point

I understand. It all depends on the person. From the money/investment standpoint, is the coin worth more for the value of the coin vs. the amount by weight. For example, I have a penny worth 100 bucks. Not enough metal to get to that price, so it's the coin, or what someone will give you for it. On the other hand, I have a bunch of silver coins I inherited in the same collection that are only worth the silver value. Since the prices have went nuts on silver, I gave my collection to a couple of coin collectors to see what it might be worth. One guy doesn't want them, but he knows coins, and good with Canadian money, which I have quite a bit of. The other guy is young and has a bunch of money and wants to save them for his kids. He is really into this stuff. Both great guys who I trust. I'm about at the end of the line here, so one less thing for my kids to **** with if I belly up some day in the chair, so why not liquidate. Goes to them anyway. Depends on the person, nothing wrong with that. I was talking to both of them at the ****hole bar the day silver went over $100. They both use coin brokers, and the young guy talks to them frequently. That is what our old dear friend Rhino that posted here did I believe. Since silver has traded in a range for many years, that we are now way out of, how do these brokers price the metal. Do you want to pay spot at 100 bucks knowing it has traded between 10 and 50 bucks for the last 20 years? Other than between 2010 and 2013, it was under 30. He said they just lower the price to you under spot. Instead of 3 bucks below spot, they offer you 6. I wouldn't want to be holding the bag at these levels. But that's just me. Then again, between some things China did with silver, and the AI/data center thing (read electronic parts), who knows? Silver is an industrial metal, and unlike gold, some gets thrown away.1 point

The only silver I own is some ASE's my grandpa bought me, so those will never be sold. I do own a decent amount of physical gold with a DCA of about $1,800. Considered selling it with prices so high, but I like having it lying around. I'm weird like that.1 point
