  2. We flew in to Tampa, stayed in Clearwater Beach, went to Lakeland on a weekday. Rt. 4 I think it was. Should have been a little over an hour trip in good conditions. Took about hour 15 going there. Game at 1. Must have hit work traffic going home, plus a wreck somewhere so the maps re-routed us. 3 hours to get back. Not fun. It is a really nice park. We were maybe 10 rows up between home plate and the 3rd base dugout. I could see the guys with radar guns behind the plate. It was late March. We were lucky with the weather, they said the week before wasn't good. If you are a Tiger fan, a must do.

  3. The Harris thing was just a joke. Most of what we talk about in the off-season is about what Scott Harris is doing or not doing. Nothing much has been happening lately, so we have gone off on tangents.

  4. the generations after the WWII generation in Europe and the US have gotten lazy, and since we have been the richest, we got the laziest. For close on 35yrs we've basically forgotten to take care of all the things that make a society work - education, fairness, citizenship, equity, truth. So here we are.

  6. I remember when bowling was popular in the 70s. I didn't play enough to get good at it, but it was fun to go once in a while, ugly uncomfortable shoe rentals and all!. There used to be two alleys in town - one really big one which everybody went to and another tiny one that looked like somebody's basement. The big alley is long gone. The five-lane basement alley is still there - almost 100 years old.

  7. On Apollo 14 the crew had a total of 15 min space time. Shepards Mercury launch. He was grounded early in Gemini but took a special surgery to fix his ear problem. Th other astronauts were not happy he got pushed to the front though he was their boss. The also had problems with the radar during the descent stage. An emergency software fix solved the problem in time before an abort. But some speculated Shepard wpuld have flown it without radar. He didn’t wait that long to go back into space just to abort.

  8. Detroit Caesars Softball, which was owned by Mike Ilitch. Norm Cash (front row, second from right) and Jim Northrup (third row, far left) were members of the team.

  9. They have high school teams around here too. That was a big deal and the kids loved it. Just not too many choices to where to go anymore.

  10. Reynolds was also one of those guys who had the thankless task of succeeding a legend. He had to go to work everyday in building with his predecessor's name on it.

  13. I think this goes way beyond purported ideological differences that everyone presumes divides the Trump/Elon faction and the Clinton/Summers faction. After all, they’ve all shared in the same wicked experience. Did anyone else happen to notice on materials released on this very forum that the Sinaloa cartel were also named among the Epstein island visitors? The ****ing Sinaloa cartel! They have no politics, but, apparently, they have been considered members in good standing of the rape chain gang. The thing that binds them all together is not political like-mindedness, but the thrill of sharing in pure, uncut depravity, along with the knowledge that no one can flip on anyone else because they’ll be flipping on themselves, providing mutually-assured immunity. That’s the current thinking, anyway. Will that finally, FINALLY fall apart?

  14. Truth. I remember we all scoffed about the Civics classes, as well as classes on cooking, budgeting, and learning to report emergencies. Now I know how important they were. The 70s were an interesting time to be in elementary school, but that's another story.

  21. I lived in Lakeland from 9/82-3/84 so got to see a couple good years down there. Got home just in time for a magical summer, went to over 30 games that year. I was working around Metro Pwy and 94 so a quick zip down the freeway.

  23. Every new thing that pops up is like another domino to the end of democracy. Not just the USA, they are coming for the whole world. They don't care about billions and trillions. They want complete control and forced devotion just like North Korea. It's not just Trump, it's his filthy rich backers too. Maga thinks it won't affect them, but they will have chains around there necks just like everyone else.

  25. I only want to say this, and I will say no more. I don't know how much of this stuff is true, and nothing would surprise me. I have read about this Epstein stuff for years, for the record. If this takes down Trump, and if he is guilty, I hope it does. But don't stop there. There are a whole bunch of other sick ****s who were also a part of all this. They ALL need to pay the price. Nothing less is acceptable. I have a daughter. Nuff said. And probably better off not said.

  26. That's a situation I understand all too well, and I suspect more people go through this than not. For me, I've found that Amazon wasn't saving me money in the long run-and I didn't order enough or watch enough to justify Amazon Prime. And I'm lucky to live in a place with a lot of good, affordable alternatives. We can only do what we can-even if for some it's literally helping instead of hurting someone.

  31. If Baltimore wants to re-sign Linderbaum they're running out of time. Free agency starts in five weeks. It probably doesn't help that they just fired their head coach and brought in a defensive guy, who still hasn't hired an offensive staff. Maybe they'll make it happen, but I think it would be negligent for the Lions to not talk to him if he hits the open market. Not for nothing, Linderbaum is an Iowa guy. He, Campbell, and LaPorta were all there together. I don't think it's quite this straightforward, but even supposing it is, the Branch situation has to be fluid, no? Hell, maybe LaPorta too. Who knows what an Achilles or back injury will bring? I don't think they should be reckless, but if you can get a guy like Linderbaum for 3 years at $54MM, which would match Creed Humphrey but not make him the highest paid center ever, I think you have to consider it. Is that $18MM APY you now don't have to re-sign guys? Yes, but you also now have one of the best in the league at a position of need. Before his injury, Branch was on a trajectory to demand even more than that (something closer to the 4/86 Kerby got). I would rather sign Linderbaum and draft Branch's eventual replacement than sit on our hands hoping to re-sign injured guys who never return to form.

  32. Jury is out on the three part with Jones. Murphy is more than a 3 and D. But it's irrelevant since almost everyone agrees they are not available.
