  1. Perhaps if either were running for Margot that run in game 2 counts because of better baserunning and the game doesn't go into extras. But that's possibly too much assumption for one play. I don't think OF defense in their absences was an issue, so there's that. I guess on the flip side it could be said that their injuries allowed Torkelson to be with the team. Difficult to assume either or both of Vierling/Meadows would have matched Torkelson's 1.532 OPS in the series.
  2. They couldn't get him an Angels' or a Saints' jacket from Starter?
  3. Swept in the series, but they were definitely in the first two games. Not being able to capitalize with runners in scoring position has been an issue, and I dare say game three might have been different had Sasaki been justifiably booked with a few more runs before his short night was over. On to Seattle.
  4. While everyone is complaining about the Dodgers operating within the rules, some of said behavior which was also enacted by a previous Tiger owner, I will say the salary deferrals irritate me. I think it’s been pointed out that they count in the luxury tax equation, which is one thing. But it seems like bad practice to me, kind of like giving a 15 year old a credit card.
  5. Dan Gilmore always brings 110% to his posts.
  6. That’s an inflationary of only 1.5%. I’m in a completely different industry, but we use 3.5% year over year for labor (wages and salary) if we don’t have precise numbers to use for budgeting/forecasting purposes.
  7. Should the Dodgers send Betts back to Boston since it was a lopsided trade in their favor? The Tigers traded away Flaherty, got a couple of promising prospects, and then reacquired Flaherty. Should that be allowed?
  8. You had it right back when Mike Ilitch was spending like a drunken sailor and you thought there needed to be a salary cap back then.
  9. True. The problem is it wasn’t enough of a stumble to where he knew he needed to retreat. Fan interference and faulty feet. 0-2 start, but they’ve not been outclassed by the Dodgers.
  10. This is a more tolerable out than Torkelson’s TOOTBLAN in the first game.
  11. According to my exhaustive research on bbref, Keith will have made $6.66M after this season. Maybe that means he’ll start hitting like a beast next season?
  12. I get he’s only 23. I’m just not all that impressed by him and I thought the extension was a reach.
  13. Hold on, autocorrect typed in “Freddie Patek”. Who were you actually typing in there?
  14. Did anyone else find themselves tapping the top of their head after a few pitches tonight or was it just me doing that?
  15. Six person team and half are missing? Is your team name "Detroit Tiger 2025 Outfielders"?
  16. Yeah, that's a valid point. What I never understood about Torkelson's debut was, if a 1B is MLB ready with that Tiger squad, why is he hitting 7th/8th in the lineup?
  17. Same here. I know some folks were pleased about the contract he signed, but I have my doubts.
  18. It doesn’t seem like #3 should be necessary as there is plenty of actual evidence that Trump is unfit for office. But here we are. We’re simply screwed until he croaks.
  19. A few summers ago, the family went to Niagara Falls and Toronto. While we were in Niagara Falls, we took a trek up to Niagara on the Lake, which is right on Lake Ontario where the Niagara River flows into it, right across the border from New York State (I forget that town’s name). It’s a little touristy, but there’s a pretty nice walkable Main Street downtown area with small shops, a nice sized common park area, horse carriage rides, small town stuff like that. And the town is walkable with lots of nice houses. Lots of grape vineyards along the way from the Falls to the Lake. The weather was clear enough where we could see across the lake and make out silhouettes of the Toronto skyline. I think we were told that was around 30 miles across the lake? I don’t know. Maybe someone was yanking our chain a little on the distance. But it took somewheres around an hour from the Falls to downtown Toronto when we made that drive.
  20. Do your taxes. Do your laundry. Do a puzzle. Play some OOTP. Go bowling with chasf. Empty out your spice pantry. Check your fire alarm batteries. Watch a movie. Listen to a podcast you’ve never tried. Make a quiche. Eat a quiche (after its cooled, not out of the oven). Put your snow thrower away for the season.
  21. This man drank his breakfast.
  22. They’re getting close to breaking his glass case because of the health emergency.
