They are not getting a #2 starter for Keith and Perez. Maybe a 4th starter - at best.

Can Toronto afford him? After signing Cease, don't they have 6 9-figure guys now?
-
Isn't Bo Bichette the right guy for the Tigers? Except for one bad year (injuries?) he's a lifetime .300 hitter. Contact hitter. Not the greatest SS, but the perfect bat for them. I don't even care about McGonigle right now. We're probably not going to see him for a couple of years. We'll deal with that when it happens.

Hope for the players cooler heads will prevail? Since when do these programs give a **** about the players? Cattle.

There should be a freeze on Head Coaching interviews, offers and acceptance until after the bowl games are over.

Lane Kiffin and LSU deserve each other. I'll enjoy that implosion. College football is a cesspool. Who's going to coach Michigan State? Who cares. Jonathan Smith is going to UCLA.

But then Chris says "I've spent the money, I've given you the tools to build it, so build it with what I've given you". Spending doesn't always work. It hasn't for the Padres or Mets, but it did for the Rangers and Dodgers. But they don't have to go crazy with it -they are only one or two players away from getting to a World Series. Seems like they were one consistent hitter away from getting to the ALCS this year. Maybe a healthy Torres makes that difference, but we've won the Wild Card round two years in a row and lost the ALDS in 5 games two years in a row. Anything short of the ALCS now should be considered a failure. They can get there with just two good free agents. I don't think they're going to do much of anything. I feel like we'll be grateful just to get Michael King, if we even get him (and because he might be the only decent FA, we'll overinflate him and be disappointed when he just does his normal thing) But this is the time. NOW is the time to go for it. Even if the mega prospects pan out, they won't be really good until 2029/2030. They could lose 3 starting pitchers after this season. And I know people have fallen out of love with Jack Flaherty, but I still think he can bounce back strong in 2026. That's his M.O., ,up and down. It seemed like Flaherty would have one-inning meltdowns, but was really good except for that. And Mize was really good except for the middle third of the season. Skubal, Mize, Flaherty - all gone after 2026 is a real possibility. I like Troy Melton and Reese Olson, but that's not enough - and 2027, if it even happens, is going to be Jobe's TJ-rebound year and we know how that usually goes. and let's face it - Melton's going to end up getting TJ surgery, right? Because it seems like they ALL get it. Now's the time Then what happens with your mega prospects like McGonigle and Max Clark. If they are doing well in Toledo - do you call them up? If you add them to the 40 man in 2026 does that mean they can't play in the minors during the labor stoppage in '27 (which will happen and could take the whole season away). I feel like Chris got burned on Javy and remembers dad getting burned on Jordan Zimmermann and just isn't going to do that again. Maybe the philosophy up at the top is just be good enough to sell a lot of tickets and merch, we're never going to win the whole thing while Ohtani is still playing. Do they get extremely creative with Skubal? A similar style contract as Ohtani where you save now but pay him like he's active when he's 50? I feel like that's the only way we keep him and what happens post-labor stoppage with a contract like that? There is going to be some sort of Salary Cap. The owners aren't going to budge this time. It might not be the same as the NFL/NHL model, and could be a very elastic type of cap, but there's going to be something. The unbalance is totally out of hand. When a superstar becomes available, it feels like its always going to be Dodgers, Mets, Yankees and maybe a 4th team pops up from time to time, but it sucks Now's The Time. Bird knows

At least Harris has made the playoffs. Not like Yzerman - in a league where HALF the teams make the playoffs. Still hasn't done it and likely won't this year.
-
it was probably written by a bot.
-
I don't think it's a Harris or Yzerman thing. I think it's Illtich telling them they can't spend. That's easier to accept than both GMs just agreeing to always sit this one out.
-
Well all of our teams have lost since Thanksgiving, I had to get something going.

What about Trevor Bauer? The world rejected him on an accusation that turned out not to be true. That's unfair and that could happen to any of us. You could be accused of something and your career taken away based on a lie. That's pretty scary. I think he does deserve a chance to pitch in MLB again. I know he rubbed folks the wrong way in the locker room, but my guess is that he's probably mellowed and wouldn't want to blow his second chance. I think he'd be worth a shot and would probably come fairly cheap.

Red Wings November 2025 Game Threads

Oh, and I understand the defense has been bad, but Gibson needs to rise up at SOME point. -

There needs to be a major change of some kind. Several players need to go. Gibson needs to go. He's brutally bad. He's Rogie Vachon-bad. GAA of over 3.50. His SvPct has be be lower than .860. That's just not good enough. And he's giving up softies too. Cossa is playing extremely well at Grand Rapids. He's earning at least a look. This season feels like it's very quickly slipping away now. Talbot hasn't been all that great either. -
It was a great show and no ending will ever top it, but the final season was a big drop off for me. I just felt the characters were getting way too whiny. I mean, it was still really good, but not at it's peak. And I hated the way they dealt with Lisa's departure - the reason why and the end result (I won't spoil it) just came out of nowhere. Hey, here's this character we've barely seen who has suddenly done this major thing. It felt rushed.

My thought going into last year was that they might have a step backwards season before they finally got all the way home and I thought that would be last year and it turns out to be this year. The Super Bowl window is FAR from closed. And while making the playoffs might be a challenge this year, it certainly isn't hopeless. First place schedules are harder and when you are the hunted team, you get everyone's A-game. Nobody needs to be fired (well maybe Morton) and nobody needs to be released. They need to repair that offensive line in the offseason. And find a better OC. I do wish Campbell would stop going for it on almost every 4th down. We have an outstanding kicker, you can use him before the very end of the game.

Bryce Young is a good example. They threw him to the wolves and he wasn't ready and it showed, but there was no pressure to win immediately, so they could let him take his lumps and learn and now he's alright. I don't think you can just take a rookie and put him on a good team and expect good things right away. McCarthy could end up being decent in a couple years, but Minnesota can't wait for that.

(the above post was from October 22) I had a feeling. I'm not right very often, but I am glad I am about this. This could be a big bounce. I doubt he's dropped of very much and if he did, he'll get it back by his 3rd game.

If you like Cheap Trick you should go seek out music from The Lemon Twigs. Especially the album "A Dream Is All We Know". Plenty of Cheap Trick/Badfinger/Big Star/Brian Wilson vibes. And they don't do anything digitally - it's all manual to tape recording.

i know some people want to dismiss much of the Pistons run, but every win now is one less you need to have later in the season and it gives them the opportunity to set up a home court advantage in the playoffs and also to rest some of their stars and keep them more charged for a playoff run. A win is a win and anytime you go 15-2 and win 13 in a row - it's absolutely special. You saw that stat. The only other 2 times the Pistons won 13 in a row they won the title those years. In 1990 they were a favorite to win it all, but the 2004 team was a lot like this one. People didn't think they had a championship in them until they blew out the Lakers in the famous "5-game sweep". I recall Jimmy Kimmell watching the game while taping his show and seeing the reaction of the Lakers getting totally blown out. Nobody thought the Pistons could win that title and they won it easily. Jalen Duren has turned into a complete player. A superstar in the making. He's on 22. Better sign him now and not **** around. -

It's that Indianapolis altitude. It messes with you. They're used to playing at about 600 feet above sea level and in Indy they are at 750 feet. -

Wow 15-2 and it's only the SECOND best record in the NBA.
