I'm not giving him a complete pass, just saying that there was atleast a tangible move that was made or difference made that could explain the difference so by doing so that doesn't make it completely arbitrary start point.

Again I'm not necessarily arguing for Glenn as much as I'm trying to temper the expectations for a defense with so few good players.

Yes those first weeks count but the point was that you said they've yet to come close to playing at league average so I'm saying that they did for over 2 months last year and have for the first 2 weeks thus far so for a 12+ game span they have been. Also it wasn't an arbitrary thing, they fired a coach and made some rumored coverage and scheme changes by doing so. And they're 5th worst in points against but that is points allowed period by the team, points allowed by the defense they are 18th.

BTW I don't think they are playing even average defense thus far but I don't think they have been dreadful either, I do think the lack of pass rush has been very concerning as has the LBs in coverage but I feel they have done a really good job stopping the run and outside of Jacobs the secondary has done a solid job in coverage.

Right now they are 18th in yards against and 17th in points allowed, seems pretty close to league average to me. This after going the last 10 weeks last year of being league averagish as well.

Everybody likes to **** on Glenn and I'm not defending him per se cause I'm not a fan of his reluctance to blitz but it's not like he has a ton of talent to work with either especially with guys like Mosely and now CJGJ out. Not counting Branch or Campbell since they have only played 2 games there really isn't anybody out there with first round pedigree outside of Hutch. Basically I think you are asking alot out of a DC if you expect this defense to be anything but league average at best with the current personnel it has. Maybe in time if/when the young guys progress you expect more but as of now the defense is almost entirely filled with guys with little or no track record of any sustained NFL success.

Btw 1 more win guarantees us of a loss total in the 80s. Idk something visually about that looks so much better than 90+ losses. Like it feels like you were almost a .500 team.

Skubal now has allowed 2 HITS or less in 5 out of his 14 starts. Is that good?

Looking at Atlanta's roster and they have alot better one than I realized particularly if you put more weight on how they have played thus far this year. I penciled this one in as a win going into the season but maybe I didn't give Atlanta enough credit, still think the Lions are going to pull this one off just cause they have the QB advantage and are playing at home but it almost certainly won't be as easy as I thought it was gonna be going into the season.

This has nothing to do with anything and I know hardly anybody pays attention to this stat anymore but I just heard a fact that shocked me and that's that Gerrit Cole is the only active pitcher under 35 with even 100 career wins.

I remember on the old board when Heyward first became a FA back in I believe 2015, I was so adament about us throwing whatever it took to get him. I think I remember saying something like "Theres no FA in a long time that I want to sign more than Heyward." At that time I was of the belief that he was gonna hit his potential offensively along with his already elite defense, plus the kicker being how young he was so you really wouldn't have been paying for many past his prime years. Of course until this year he never did hit those offensive numbers I was expecting so we dodged a bullet not signing him then but anytime he is brought up I think back to the man crush I had on him that offseason.

I'm always biased towards guys that can can get whiffs so in my mind I'm more of a believer in Olson going forward. Yeah he doesnt have the prospect pedigree of Manning but his stuff and results passes the eye test to me.
