Week Two: Seattle Seahawks (0-1) @ Detroit Lions (1-0)
RandyMarsh replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
Sounds like he's gonna be out for awhile. Only time I remember noticing him thus far this year was earlier today when he was in coverage chasing down the TE. -

Now 20-0, it won't make up for the Lions loss but seeing the Giants get smoked by the Cardinals sure would go along way to making me feel better about this football Sunday. God do I hate them! -

The Rams after dominating the Seahawks last week are currently hanging tough with the 49ers 10-10 late in the 2nd quarter. Perhaps people(myself included) wrote the franchise off too early after the injury laden bad season last year. Maybe with a healthy Stafford they are still a legit threat in the NFC. -

To me you go for the TD even if it means leaving them time on the clock. I'd rather be handing them the ball up 4 with 30-40 seconds left then having to attempt a 40 yard FG to send the game into OT. -

For the record my argument about going for the TD was not that they should've went for it on 4th down as I agree in that scenario you have to play it safe and try for the FG. My argument was seemingly how they slowed things down after they got into FG range, like they didn't want to make a mistake and were content for settling for a FG. I of course don't know if that was truly their mindset or not but that's how it came across to me. That is the part I disagreed with and I'm not just singling out the Lions here, I'm talking about in general, I see it way too much in the NFL and I never liked it. -

If the defense dominated and they lost 10-3 with the only TD being given up was a Goff pick 6 people would be overreacting about the offense and how terrible it is and how the league is geared towards offense and they can't even score a single TD. Anyway despite my posts I'm not acting like there isn't anything to be concerned about but they are 1-1 after 2 games with the 1 loss being in OT. I'm not gonna overreact one way or another, if they string together some more losses then I will start to be real concerned. I will say the lack of pass rush has disappointing but the bright spot is that rush defense has played alot better, today they held one of the better 1-2 pair of RBs to under 3 yards a carry. -

Bad defense and poor execution is why most teams lose their games. I mean if you play good defense and execute well you generally aren't in position to lose the game. -

I do agree with this, I did not like the decision to basically play for the tie at the end at all. For starters a FG isn't guaranteed anyway and for another I'd rather not take my chances in OT where a coin flip is so important. I'd rather try to control my destiny and win the game in regulation. -

Well we can chalk up the Packers as pretenders since they lost to the Falcons today cause you're not allowed to lose games in the NFL anymore. -

The Jalen Carter argument is stupid, we all know why the Lions didn't draft him and it wasn't because they didn't think he was a great player. You can't fault a team for not drafting a guy who they feel has character concerns and motivation concerns. If we drafted him and he turned into a lazy slob who takes games off people would be bitching and moaning about it for years. -

Packers trailing Falcons late, GB can't afford to lose this one or else their season is over and they will be deemed worse than the Falcons. -

Absolutely brutal grounding call, I don't know if it was technically a penalty based on the rules but if it is then thats a stupid rule. -

Not every play is set up or called to be a big gain, you call certain plays to set up your opposition for plays down the road so just cause the Lions run for 2 yards it doesn't mean that was a bad play call. It's no different then a pitcher in baseball throwing what appears to be a waste pitch but in reality he is throwing it to set the batter up for the next pitch(es). -

I always forget when GGs even started so I was afraid to mention any guys pre 70s, I'll have to remember that they been around longer than I thought.

I got 7/9 today as well. Should've stopped after the whiffing on the first question of 30/30 and 200 hits. Trying to go for the rarity I said Kinsler but he topped out at 190 hits. Also missed the middle square of 40+ HRs and Gold Gloves. I'm terrible with GGs but I knew Goldschmidt has won a bunch in recent years and I thought he hit 40 atleast once but nope he topped out at 37.

Forgot about Big V being able to play RT, in that case then yeah this would probably be better but even so I just worry about messing with a good thing. V looked great at RG as did everybody else on the line, if we just replace the LT yeah we take a massive downgrade there but maybe they could set up some schemes to not expose him too much and we still could play to the strength of the right side. IDK it hurts either way, I'm just trying to think of what mitigates the damage the best. -

Definitely true but I feel that he's going to be terrifying at RT too but atleast at LT everybody else on the line is in their comfort zones. I'm just worried that moving Sewell to the left he could struggle(by struggle I mean not play as well as he has been on the right side) and then you'd still have the massive downgrade on the right side by taking Sewell away from there. -

Decker ruled out and Paschal to the Injured reserve. I don't know if they plan on moving Sewell to LT but I think I'd prefer to just leave him where he is at, I feel moving him to LT you potentially downgrade at two positions instead of one. -

Skubal has the one thing that them two don't or didn't and that's the explosive fastball that can get swings and misses in and out of the zone. -

Skubal has almost literallly been the best pitcher in baseball this year since he has come back. No starter with atleast the same amount of innings or more as him has a lower xERA. If and its a big if but if he stays healthy it looks like we got atleast 1 Ace out of our big 3 pitching prospects from a few years ago. -
