  1. Yep also they are scouting his stuff and what he flashed the other day was Ace like according to the statcast numbers and some of the reports I read. On top of that he showed improved control by not walking anybody and throwing few balls. Judging by the HRs he prob still has command issues and left balls in the middle of the zone but hes only 20 and making his way back from a long absence so that shouldn't come as a surprise
  2. To me it's not about what anybody remembers it's my personal joy I get as a fan. In the extreme scenario I mentioned before I may get 10 years of heartbreak after they come up short but I would shake that off shortly after, the remaining part of those 10 years would me enjoying watching a winning team, getting excited for every game, experiencing big game atmospheres etc. Where as with the other scenario sure I would bask in the glory of that championship and there is no doubt I wouldn't forget it but then the other 9 years would be relatively miserable as a fan.
  3. Nobody can build a team to win a World Series cause there is no blueprint for that all you can do is build a team to give you a chance at one and the Rays have done an excellent job of doing that. I get that it's all a matter of preference but as a fan all I want is for my team to be in the hunt year in and year out, sure I want a championship but I'd rather have 10 years of the playoffs with no championships than 1 championship and 8 or 9 non competitive seasons.
  4. ⚾️ Immaculate Grid 118 9/9: Rarity: 173 IMMACULATE! 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩 Play at: https://immaculategrid.com @immaculategrid x @baseball_ref The White Sox and Orioles Cy Young answer killed me, could only think of the two most popular answers.
  5. Haase definitely deserves to be sent down but I guess since its a lost season now might as well keep him up IF the young pitchers are comfortable with him and/or he "calls a good game" to help them out. We better look for alternatives in the offseason though cause he is just killing us, -1.3 WAR in only 77 games played thus far.
  6. Not necessarily his fault that the runner got thrown out but of course Haase hits it right in the spot where it's not deep enough to score but not shallow enough to hold so the worst case outcome happens. Nothing but bad things happen when he comes to the plate.
  7. Sounds like Max is going to the Rangers pending his approval so that may take them out of the mix for our guys.
  8. Greene with the oppo shot to make it 4-0 Tigers. Greene now has more hits in the past 10 days than Haase has since Memorial Weekend. And no that isn't hyperbole.
  9. haha the thankless job of a long snapper, nobody knows or cares about you until you screw up a snap. I think back to like 20 years ago the Giants brought back a veteran LS for their playoff run and he ended up botching a snap that cost them a playoff game. I'll never forget his post game interview where he was swarmed by reporters and said "I'd give anything but my wife and kids to have stayed retired." Gut wrenching but that's how it goes for that position.
  10. Not comparing them as players but in terms of personality on the field he strikes me as somebody that is going to be like an Elly De La Cruz and Tatis Jr. have been, extremely animated that plays with a bit of "swagger" and is "fun to watch". The type of guy that you may find annoying if you are a fan of the opposition but love him when he is on your team. A total contrast to the more reserved Riley Greene.
  11. Akil with the 3 run bomb! Maybe some of the posts recently on here(including some by me) about him lit a fire under him!
  12. Love the reaction after the triple, only rookie ball but still trying to fire up the team, definitely can seem him being a major fan favorite in the future. Also you can see the wheels on him, he was basically rounding second when the ball landed, assuming everything goes as plans he is going to have a field day at Comerica Park.
  13. Yep, I think a more realistic team to model after is the Braves or Cardinals. Not necessarily penny pinchers but have a good balance between spending money/going after MLB players in trades while not neglecting the farm system or player development side of things.
  14. You can extend that to AAA and that would probably be true at this point.
  15. I like Malloy but imo he isn't the type of prospect that should prevent you from signing or going after proven veterans. Do I want them to overpay for an old past his prime player? No but if they could sign/trade for a proven player I'm not going to prevent guys like Malloy from stopping me.
  16. The Reds would be a team I'd like to target, they have a few really attractive middle infield prospects that I would be interested in and with them already having Elly, Mclain and perhaps India(not sure whats gonna happen to him) they may be more open to dealing one of them for somebody like E-Rod.
  17. I think it was Gibbs cause you hear Campbell say to Sheila something like "This guy is like a receiver" and she says "Gibbs?" and he says "so if we could pull this off.." and Sheila cuts him off and says "that would be a thrill".
  18. Somebody has to be better than Haase. On top of the stats I posted above he has not drew a walk in his last 98 plate appearances and only has 1HR and 6 extra base hits total in that time. One of the worst 100 ABs from a non pitcher I have ever seen.
  19. Haase now 6 for his last 56 with zero walks and only 2 extra base hits(no homers).
  20. Ha I love the Branch transaction. Holmes calls the Packers GM and they tell him they want 44 and 152 so Holmes tells him he'll call him back. Holmes tells the Lions team that then calls the Packers back and says "Not giving you 152" then leans back in his chair and says "Ok that sounds better" and the Packers GM settles for 159 instead. It was only 7 pick difference but I love the fact that Holmes calmly and confidently held his ground and ended up getting the better deal. Good stuff.
  21. Just got to the part with the Campbell pick, I kinda wonder if they were between him and Gonzalez cause you hear Campbell say "Id be fine with that too" when Holmes seemingly brings up a different outcome if Campbell is gone and then when they show the Gonzalez pick the room doesn't celebrate like did when the pick before Gibbs was announced, only Holmes saying "well its easy", basically like it was gonna be between them two but now that Gonzalez was down it was a no brain pick for them.
  22. Only about 5 mins in and it is showing footage of the draft war room but it feels like it confirms that Gibbs was truly the guy they were targeting all along and that they view him as a receiver more than anything. *right after they trade back* Campbell: "This guy plays like a receiver" Sheila: "Gibbs?" Campbell: "So if we can pull this off(moving back and still getting him)" Sheila: "Yeah awesome" Campbell: "Oh my God yeah" Sheila: "Yeah it would be thrilling!"
  23. I'd be perfectly fine giving him that 3/120 with 90M guaranteed, in fact I think that would be ideal for both parties. Goff gets his guaranteed money and job security for the next few years and the Lions get stability and a really good QB without committing too many years to him if they choose to want to go in another direction in the not too distant future.
  24. I don't think it will matter much but one thing to consider with E-Rod is that he isn't a guarantee rental. Yeah if he pitches well the rest of the year he is gone but there is the small chance that say he implodes down the stretch or gets hurt that maybe he doesn't opt out so the team trading for him will atleast get to have him for 3 more years at a reasonable price.
  25. In 2021 the rental Scherzer along with a 1.5 years of Trea Turner netted the Nationals the Dodgers top 2 prospects(both top 25ish overall) along with 2 45+ grade prospects. It's hard to say how much the 1.5 years of Turner added to the deal but I'd imagine even if it was only Scherzer it would've been atleast one of the top 2 along with a mid grade guy which isn't a whole lot different than what we got for the rental David Price in 2015. With Price we got the premium highly touted guy in Norris who was top 25ish at the time and the fringe prospect Matt Boyd.
