  1. Just googled him and for spouse it said "Monica Scales" but I read it as "Monica Seles" the former female tennis great. I momentarily was like "whoa how did this minor league lifer pull her" lol
  2. Yeah I'm thinking that too now. This reply in the comments did make me chuckle though.
  3. That is legit one of the weirdest things I have ever heard. In a similar vein I guess the wrestler The Undertaker used to have this weird phobia of cucumbers so its not the first time I heard of something like this. But I dont think he screamed in fear at the sight of them though.
  4. Same. Not that they are experts or anything but I see alot of folks in the comments of that tweet suggesting Bryce just packed on as much weight as he could just for the weigh in and it probably isn't what his true playing weight is and will be. I could see that, especially since he chose not to run the 40, he's probably feeling sluggish as hell with the extra weight.
  5. True, I should've clarified that I was talking more about 40 time since in common circles that seems to be what draws the most attention. Also I didn't mean to imply that teams don't put any stock into the combine any more I just feel that it doesn't mean as much to them as it used to. I guess I have no way to confirm that though but just hearing what guys like Rick Spielman have said along with Dan Holmes makes me think that. I just get the idea that most teams in most situations use it more as a confirmation to what they saw on tape vs. changing their board based off combine results.
  6. I think alot of teams are putting less stock in combine numbers, atleast the traditional ones namely 40 times. Sure they still care but I think they use it more as a confirmation to what they saw on film and other things they have access to like GPS. I look at Tariq Woolen last year who ran a blazing 4.24 yet still lasted to the 5th round. Granted that may have been due to playing for a smaller school but still I think in years past teams would've jumped on him earlier just based off that. Another example is DK Metcalf(ironically 2 Seahawk picks) who dominated the combine yet lasted till the end of the 2nd. I think back to previous combine warriors like Heyward-Bey who went 8th overall based largely on his 40 time and it makes me think times have changed a bit.
  7. I think Rodgers still has the ability to be elite, I mean he won the MVP in 2021 so he's not that far removed from being that but at his age if I was a team I don't know if I would want to mortgage the future in hopes that he will be. If he was a straight FA and "only" costed money then sure I'd sign him to a short term high AAV deal if I was a contending team in need of a QB but I don't think I'd be willing to give up a bunch of draft capital on top of paying him a ton which is what it sounds like its going to take to get him.
  8. lol sorry in the midst of my Quentin Johnson mancrush moment so had to point it out.
  9. Still couldn't beat Quentin Johnson to the edge on the crossing pattern as Johnson blew right by him at 6'4 225lbs.
  10. FWIW I just saw a mock from the draftnetwork.com with us trading with the Panthers and in their trade they have us getting not only their 2nd but a 2024 1st as well. It may seem like a stretch to get that much but with 2 possible QB needy teams between us I think they'd pay that if there is a QB(s) they covet. Anyways if that were to happen I think I'd go something like this. #9 Quentin Johnson. After looking more thoroughly through the WRs I soften my previous stance about not being able to find a big body "X" WR later on but I don't think there is anybody in his class and the disparity between him and his peers in that regard is more than we'd get at another position. I'd also be open to Bijan here for the similar reasons. #18 Top CB available. I feel all the top 6-7 corners are similar so whomever you have highest take here #39 Jack Campbell MLB. I really covet him and he might be gone by this point but if he's available still late in the 1st I'd consider trading up to get him. #48 Mazi Smith DT #55 Darnell Wright OT I think this is a good target area for an O lineman so if he is not there and there is a similar ranked player then I'd take him.
  11. I think Stroud is definitely the safest and most ready QB, if we drafted him I'd be willing to shop Goff this offseason cause I think he'd be able to step in right away in this situation and be fine. I wouldn't want to waste a year of him on the sidelines cause I don't think it's needed. With that said I question the upside with him, to me he's a guy that I feel like Goff needs the right system and players around him and probably isn't the type of guy that you can count on to carry the team if all the pieces aren't there.
  12. Id disagree with the pick but I wouldnt be too critical if they drafted Richardson but if they traded up for Carter I would definitely question that and be pretty pissed about it just cause doing that seems to go against everything they preached about character. Even if he truly is a good kid that just made an isolated dumb decision like kids can do it still would be hypocritical in my eyes. With that said Id still root and hope for the best and do think he'd be a great fit on the field just am worried about the effect he could have away from the field.
  13. As long as Goff keeps up the level of play he has shown I don't want to draft a replacement period but I'm just speaking in the hypothetical situation that they do indeed want the cheap replacement. To me drafting one now doesn't make sense unless they absolutely love the qb and feel that they wouldn't be able to acquire a better one in the coming draft(s). I think next year the timeline just lines up better cause the team will be better all around so it makes it that much easier for a young qb to succeed along with matching up better with the team's salary structure. Goff is a FA after 24 so in this scenario the rookie qb sits under the learning tree for one year than takes over the reigns with 4 years of a rookie deal left instead of 3 if we draft a qb this year.
  14. My issue with that is that I think that puts us in a bad spot this coming year. We either have Goff playing while looking over his shoulder and as you said he has struggled in the past in similar situations. Or you trade Goff and are either forced to start an inferior FA or a rookie qb who is not ready.(assuming it's Levis or Richardson) Also as I said I just don't like the qbs in this class so I hate to draft one just cause they want their young qb.
  15. If you're hell bent on getting a young replacement I still say next draft is the best one. For starters I just feel there are atleast 3 to 4 better qbs than any this year(plus who knows who will rise by then) but also I think the timeline matches up better. In the 2024 draft scenario we will have another year of draft picks under our belt and improvement from young players so if we do draft a qb he could potentially make an immediate impact due to the great situation we put him in, much like Herbert did a couple years ago. Otoh you could still ease him in and have him sit behind Goff for a year too. The downside is that we'd likely have to trade up to get a qb next year but if you have a stacked team like I hope we will you can afford to do that, and I think it would be worth it getting the better qb and better fitting timeline.
  16. I agree, it defeats the purpose of having the "cheap qb" if he's just going to hold a clipboard until 3 years in the league.
  17. He has also hit a couple of missiles and a 415ft flyball..all for outs. If those fall suddenly his line would look decent.
  18. One thing I do like about Richardson is that I think he can provide value right away in in certain packages in specific situations. Not that just doing that justifies the 6th pick but its nice knowing that we could get some ROI before 2 to 3 years down the road.
  19. If they go qb I think that says alot about what they feel of the other talent. I don't think there is a chance in hell that they'd take a qb if a guy like Sewell or Hutch was there but if they just feel all the guys are just meh then maybe it's worth swinging for the fences on a qb in their eyes. Still don't agree with it though.
  20. Of course all things being equal I want the faster guy but I think inside LB like FS is heavily dependent on instincts and in turn jumps you get instead of raw athleticism/speed which is why you see older guys still excel at those positions.
  21. Calijah Kancey was a guy I had my eye on at 18, well he just ran the fastest 40 time for a DT since 2006 so I think any hopes of him still being there at 18 have vanished.
  22. Not comparing him to them necessarily as players but I put Tork in the category of the Christin Stewarts in the effect that they have/had no problem handling minor league pitching so not sure how much is to gain by going down there. Of course if they feel he is that bad that he is hurting the team they could send him down for the team's sake and not necessarily to try to benefit him.
  23. Granted with it being spring training guys are probably working faster regardless but still youd be hard pressed to get a single pitch in this amount of time before. Also Javy is gonna gun for that record, I'm sure he'll top that speed by the end of April.
  24. They have to take some step forward, Id prefer the playoffs of course but even mid 30s win total would atleast show some progress. We're already at 4 years now with a bottom 5 record so it's time to start showing some improvement.
