  1. Well atleast there was a hard hit ball deserving of a hit.
  2. LMAO and another one! Scored 4 runs without hitting a single ball over 80mph. Last 3 hits had an xBA of .140, .280, .090 yet all 3 ended up being hits! What are the odds?
  3. Along with a runner advancing to 1st on a strike 3 that ricocheted off the plate the Tigers are also getting BABIP'd to death this inning. Just terrible luck!
  4. Not sure if Victor gets there or not but that damn ball boy didn't help matters, seemed like Victor slowed up cause the kid was in the way. He certainly prevented him from diving or laying out for the ball if he wanted to.
  5. I don't know about Daniels, sure they had those 5 years of success but looking at his transactions they have been spotty at best. He got a good return on Teixiera(who he didn't acquire), along with reviving Josh Hamilton which was a home run and signing Adrian Beltre but he also traded away guys like Adrian Gonzalez, traded for Prince Fielder and gave out some dud contracts. Basically the success that he had for that period doesn't seem like something I'd bank on going forward, you rarely hit a HR in free agency like the Beltre signing, find a reclamation project like Hamilton or find a team so desperate that it will give you a haul for a half year rental. After that luck ran out we saw how poor the team was under him trying to develop their own players.
  6. You just know if we were to make the hypothetical trade using the Rams pick that in week 1 Stafford, Cupp, Donald, Akers and Ramsey would all suffer season ending injuries.
  7. You're always told not to invest in pitchers well into their 30s and it just so happens the two that the Tigers decided to take that advice on not only turned out to be extreme exceptions to the rule but also ended up being 2 of the best to ever do it at their age. Go figure.
  8. Swanson AND Inciarte who had a few solid seasons for ATL for Shelby Miller. Look questionable at best for the Dbacks at the time, looks horrendous in hindsight.
  9. The Braves are so stacked everywhere and with Grissom waiting in the wings I could see them letting Swanson walk. If so I would be more than fine with him, doesn't offer the upside of a Correa or Trea Turner but is very likely going to be a plus player for the foreseeable future. Btw speaking of the Braves, to nobody's surprise Grossman has been tearing it up there, homered last night and now has an .885 OPS with them.
  10. https://www.espn.com/mlb/insider/insider/story/_/id/34407508 Good article about the history of rebuilds since 2000. He breaks it down by the severity of the rebuild, he classified ours as pretty high on the scale, basically as close to tearing it down to the studs as you can get. According to his research in rebuilds like that you should expect it to take 5+ years but if after that 5 or so years there doesn't appear to be progress well you're going to end up like Avila if you're a GM.
  11. Do we have an 84 Tigers 35-5 run in us cause that's all it will take to get us to the 80 win mark that many of us hoped for preseason. Actually 35-8 so they have a little bit of a cushion.
  12. I'm sure he is going to have his struggles and may not be the type of bat that can hit above average MLB pitching but if he can rake the subpar guys he can have a place on the team since we don't have many guys that can even do that. What's encouraging though is that he seems to keep getting better as the year goes on and may have some more growth left in him.
  13. Also atleast 2 of Tork's outs were labeled as "lineouts" on gameday, so perhaps they were rocket at em balls.
  14. Carpenter getting the prime Miggy treatment, 4 straight balls with only 1 close to the zone.
  15. Eduardo just threw an immaculate inning in the 5th. Now is at 5IP 1R 9Ks.
  16. It was an inside the parker but still hit it to the deep LCF, the two fielders collided it at the wall resulting in the ball going away. So even though it was an inside the parker it hit off the wall so not a total cheapie.
  17. Eduardo is currently through 4 innings of 1R ball with 6Ks down in Toledo.
  18. I get major Rick Porcello vibes watching Hill from the CF cam. Not necessarily his stuff or anything even though the low 90s FB is similar but just the way he looks, his profile and some of his mannerisms.
  19. After only scoring 8 runs on the road in the 1st inning the first 4 1/2 months of baseball, the Tigers have now scored 4 in the past 2 days.
  20. Tigers offense finally catches a break when Harold's dribbler bounces off the 2nd base bag and gets away from the SS, unfortunately Baez who was on 2nd wasn't running hard the hole time and got thrown out at home. But wait as I type this they overruled the out by calling catcher's interference. So 1-0 Tigers.
  21. New GM kicks Willi to the curb. Avila watching from afar:
  22. On the bright side if we can get good pitching like we've been getting next year we could be alright with even a half way decent offense. On the other hand if our pitching regresses next year and our offense continues to be hopeless things could get even uglier than they are now.
  23. I probably wouldn't bet on him repeating his defensive performance this year cause he's one of if not the best defenders at 2B but I also wouldn't bet on it completely falling off next year. He's only 30, we saw Kinsler keep his elite D here till his mid 30s so there's no reason to think Schoop can't do it for one more year.
  24. Schoop's peripherals like BB%, K%, LD%, GB%, FB% are all inline with his career norms where up until this year he was an average or slightly above average hitter, the only difference is his BABIP and HR/FB% have plummeted. That could be due to the new ball or it could just be bad luck, for our sake lets hope it's the latter cause he still is only 30 years old so it's not like he is at the age where you expect him to fall off a cliff.
