  1. I would say the dreaded Castrai and Barnhart lineup but really with the way Miggy has been playing and Schoop even if available sucking there really aren't any better options. Atleast Baddoo and Carpenter are playing so we can keep tabs on their at bats.
  2. Im skeptical they will be that good but I wouldn't rule it out either. Here's a question though if that were to happen would you still try to get a qb in the first round or stick with Goff? You could risk running into the dreaded qb purgatory like Minny has been in but at the same time they have made the playoffs a few times under Cousins and Im of the belief that despite popular opinion the NFL playoffs is a crapshoot much like MLB, if guys like Foles can win Super Bowls and Eli Manning can beat Tom Brady twice anything can really happen. If you have a qb good enough to consistently get you to the dance then there is a relatively good chance you're going to make a SB at some point. So I guess this is my long wined way of saying that I would stick with Goff if he did indeed has a Cousins type year and leads us to a top 10 offense. Only caveat would be if a Mahomes type fell to your lap in the middle of the 1st like it did the Chiefs and there really wasn't any other player you really were in love with. At that point you'd probably have to take the chance and pick him.
  3. Right? Outside of Slay I think they have all been disappointments, atleast in the past 20 or so years.
  4. It sounds like at best ATL may have saw something they THOUGHT would fix him and had him try it, he by off chance had a couple good games afterwards and just figured he was all good and they identified and fixed his flaw. That and with Robbie being a FA this year he may have felt it was in his best interest to throw the Tigers under the bus and pass the blame on to them. "Dont worry the only reason I sucked for most of the year was because I was with those incompetent bastards, get me away from them and I'll be fine."
  5. I see Toledo's season doesn't end till 9/28 so in that case Id just have him finish out the season there and call it a season. By Sprong training next year that would give him some 7 months away from stinch of the big league coaches which may be enough time for him to revert back to the player we expected him to be. With any luck we'll have some better help for him up here next year too. Btw my early predictions for either the first or atleast most prominent fluff piece of Spring Training will be about Tork reinventing or finding his old self. He'll be said to be "mashing the ball like he did at ASU" and things of that nature.
  6. Tork a double for 3 with a walk and a K, OPS up to .726 in Toledo. Still a ways from where we would hope and expect him to be down there but considering he was in the .400s at one point its nice to see a little progress.
  7. Miggy is the negative side of Tigers legends, on the positive side is Justin Verlander who is currently through 6 no hit innings against the Twins with 10Ks. At 91 pitches so unless they just let him empty the tank I don't know if he will be able to go the full 9 but he's been as good as ever tonight. Only Twin to reach base was off a passed strike 3.
  8. Miggy fouls off a hanging slider right down the middle the pitch before K'ing. That pitch was put on a tee for him and he just couldn't barrel it up, story of the past couple years for him.
  9. The human rally killer Miguel Cabrera quickly shuts down any hopes of a big inning with the GIDP.
  10. Yeah that's a bit disappointing, there were a lot of really good players still available at the time of that pick that we could've used so really counting on Paschal being legit, hopefully this just turns out to be a minor setback and he ends up being the player that management sees him being.
  11. Riley's got his OBP back up to .300 after a strong few games, still disappointing but it's nice to see a little bounce back after being Coolbaugh'd for several weeks.
  12. Hutchinson's night appears to be done after 5 innings of 1 run ball, not an official one due to only going 5 but for all intents and purposes another quality start for a Tigers starter.
  13. Miggy flies out to pretty deep RCF, statcast had it at 380ft, that's gotta be one of the furthest balls he has hit in a couple months.
  14. Wait they are legit brothers? I thought people were just saying that jokingly since they have the same name, I didn't know that they really were, that's wild!
  15. I remember I went to the Lions game the same day as either game 3 or 4. Ran into a couple from SF who made the trip for the WS. They were nice people I remember my then gf and I had a couple drinks with them and they were talking about how much nicer Detroit was then they were expecting. Come to think of it that was a pretty rough morning and afternoon of drinking so I may not have even watched what ever game that was and perhaps that's why I don't remember it
  16. I legit don't remember a single thing about the 2012 WS other than Sandoval crushing Verlander in game 1 and Miggy taking strike 3 in game 4. It's like my brain blocked everything out from my memory.
  17. I know for awhile the AL was viewed as the much superior league so when people brought up league changes that is what I figured they meant, it wasn't as drastic as say going from AAA to the big leagues but it was seen as at the very least a little bit of bump up that can take some time adjusting to. I think in recent years though the NL may have leveled up a bit and that difference isn't as pronounced if at all.
  18. Robbie with another 0 for 3 last night and is now 1 for his last 13, looks like that crack Atlanta video and coaching team needs to fix him again.
  19. While Miggy limps his way to the finish line Pujols has discovered the fountain of youth, bashed another HR today bringing his career total to 693. In the past 2 weeks he has put up a higher slugging percentage than any 2 week stretch in his entire career! Also he has like an .860 OPS right now, he didn't have a single OPS that high in his entire 10 year run with the Angels.
  20. Lions definitely dodged a bullet there with Kenny. Did the last year of injuries here deteriorate him that much or is it just the fact that Daniel Jones doesn't know how to maximize him like Stafford could?
  21. Suarez is probably the best recent example but he was really only up for such a short period for time with us it's hard to say whether the Reds should get credit for "turning him around" or if he would've done the same here if we hadn't given up on him so soon.
  22. It was a short period but didn't JD and Nick go on tears after they were traded? JD was obviously awesome here but IIRC he took it to even another level in Arizona where he was putting up prime Pujols or ARod type numbers.
  23. BTW Grossman is 1 for his last 10 with 1 walk and 5Ks dropping his OPS for the month down to .788. That .788 would be Ruthian compared to the rest of the squad but Grossman himself just posted a .735 month of June with us so if he continues to trend downward like he has been the past week he's going to end up right around that number or even worse.
  24. I'm not ready to say Grossman has been fixed just yet. Believe me I want another reason to bash Coolbaugh and company as much as the next person but its still a very small sample size. I thought Candy may have been fixed a few weeks ago when he was on a near month long tear only for him to revert back to his April and May form the last couple weeks.
  25. What I like about Parker's year is that much like Carpenter his plate discipline has gotten better as the year has gone on atleast according to his k and bb%. It's one thing to just put up better raw numbers but it makes those raw numbers more encouraging when you see the peripherals getting better as well.
