  1. I know for awhile the AL was viewed as the much superior league so when people brought up league changes that is what I figured they meant, it wasn't as drastic as say going from AAA to the big leagues but it was seen as at the very least a little bit of bump up that can take some time adjusting to. I think in recent years though the NL may have leveled up a bit and that difference isn't as pronounced if at all.
  2. Robbie with another 0 for 3 last night and is now 1 for his last 13, looks like that crack Atlanta video and coaching team needs to fix him again.
  3. While Miggy limps his way to the finish line Pujols has discovered the fountain of youth, bashed another HR today bringing his career total to 693. In the past 2 weeks he has put up a higher slugging percentage than any 2 week stretch in his entire career! Also he has like an .860 OPS right now, he didn't have a single OPS that high in his entire 10 year run with the Angels.
  4. Lions definitely dodged a bullet there with Kenny. Did the last year of injuries here deteriorate him that much or is it just the fact that Daniel Jones doesn't know how to maximize him like Stafford could?
  5. Suarez is probably the best recent example but he was really only up for such a short period for time with us it's hard to say whether the Reds should get credit for "turning him around" or if he would've done the same here if we hadn't given up on him so soon.
  6. It was a short period but didn't JD and Nick go on tears after they were traded? JD was obviously awesome here but IIRC he took it to even another level in Arizona where he was putting up prime Pujols or ARod type numbers.
  7. BTW Grossman is 1 for his last 10 with 1 walk and 5Ks dropping his OPS for the month down to .788. That .788 would be Ruthian compared to the rest of the squad but Grossman himself just posted a .735 month of June with us so if he continues to trend downward like he has been the past week he's going to end up right around that number or even worse.
  8. I'm not ready to say Grossman has been fixed just yet. Believe me I want another reason to bash Coolbaugh and company as much as the next person but its still a very small sample size. I thought Candy may have been fixed a few weeks ago when he was on a near month long tear only for him to revert back to his April and May form the last couple weeks.
  9. What I like about Parker's year is that much like Carpenter his plate discipline has gotten better as the year has gone on atleast according to his k and bb%. It's one thing to just put up better raw numbers but it makes those raw numbers more encouraging when you see the peripherals getting better as well.
  10. I'm pretty neutral on Hinch as well, we performed above expectations last year while performing below this year, our pitching has performed well above expectations while our offense is well below, it's like in the nearly 2 years he's been here there have been things to really get behind about him and things to blast him over so ultimately it's kinda been a wash. I guess the good news is that you don't hear about any bickering or unhappiness in the clubhouse, it seems like despite the team's struggles everybody is still getting along and on the same page so I think there is something to be said about that for the manager.
  11. That 2017 class was terrible for the Tigers but looking at it as a whole it was terrible across the board atleast up until this point. There's a few guys that are still thought of highly on the prospect lists and or young graduated players so perhaps in the end it ends up better but as of now it has only produced 1 All Star in Trevor Rogers of the Marlins. It looks like it could be just an all around bad batch of players.
  12. To use a gaming analogy there's only so much XP points in the Meadows family to go around so Austin sacrificed many of his for Parker the last few months and that's why Austin hasn't been able to play meanwhile Parker has been flourishing.
  13. Reyes with a 2 run double/triple(not sure if they will charge the RF with a 1 base error) to make it 3-0 Tigers! Meanwhile Shohei is going to question his entire existence for struggling like this against these Tigers.
  14. Wonder if it's a slow gun today, E-Rod while getting good results appears to only be throwing 90-92mph and Ohtani is "only" topping out at 96 according to the TV gun when normally he's at like 99.
  15. Honestly all Baez needs to do is commit to not swinging in the AB and he'd probably walk alot more since the pitchers rarely throw him 3 balls in the strike zone in any given at bat. Like just leave the bat on your shoulder for 2 or 3 at bats a week and you'd probably see his walk and OBP totals gets a bump.
  16. Riley with the 1st pitch BOMB off of Ohtani, did not see that one coming!
  17. OPS wise this is the worst offense the MLB has seen in atleast 50 years, for the Tigers this is the worst offense in well over a 100 years. Just absolutely historically bad.
  18. 3 year anniversary of the Tigers pulling off one of the biggest single game upsets in history. It wouldn't be of the magnitude of that one but considering they are facing Ohtani they are going to need a little bit of magic again today.
  19. Not mentioned in this video is the 2014 week 17 game at Lambeau for the division. While there may not be the 1 obvious blunder it is still to this day the most lobsided officiating game I have ever seen. If you look at the box score you'll see 10-53yds for the Lions and 4-40 on the Packers and not think much of it but every single Packers penalty was a pre snap penalty that was so obvious it had to be called, they didn't call a single in play penalty against them despite the mangling of Suh and Fairley on virtually every play or the obvious interference calls against Calvin. It was so ridiculous!
  20. I defended up until the start of last year only cause I believed the stuff he was saying 5 years back about all the revamps they were making to the player development and analytical side of things and I wanted to give him a couple years to see how that transpired but when the only real breakout in the system was Skubal(in terms of being a legit top prospect) coupled with guys either being stagnant or going backwards I turned against him. There were other things that turned me against him as well but that was the major thing.
  21. I think there is something to being able to spin the ball naturally whether it's your hand/finger size or just natural throwing motion vs. forcing it. Verlander was always a high spin guy and didn't have a serious arm injury until he was in his late 30s cause all those things came natural to him. Same with guys like Greinke and Cole. I'm hoping since Jobe has been a high spin guy since HS that he falls into a similar category.
  22. NOt that preseason means a whole lot but crazy to think this is the Lions first preseason win since 2018!
  23. Tigers get the W, amazing what can happen when you score atleast 4 runs!
  24. Kurt Suzuki has been around forever, I imagine if he ever retires and chooses that route he is going to be a manager someday.
  25. Buddha showing his age by having disgust for the colorful shorts that the youths love to wear these days.
