It's crazy to think that the Marlins got Gallen AND Sandy Alcantara in the Ozuna trade talk about a true haul! They since swapped Gallen for Chisholm but crazy to think that they managed to get arguably the two of the best starters in the NL for I believe only a year of Ozuna. A rare blunder by the Cardinals and shows that even the best run franchises can make huge mistakes.

Anybody see how pathetic the reigning B1G West champs Iowa and particularly their offense looked yesterday against *checks notes* South Dakota State University? They finished with a total of 160 yards of offense, punted 10 times and their QB had a QBR of 1.1. They ended up winning 7-3 not thanks to a TD but 2 safeties and a FG, insanely bad offense.

You see it every year where there is a team(s) that isn't nearly as good as their preseason ranking so perhaps one of those teams this year is Oregon but if they really are as good as their ranking then damn UGA might end up being even better this year. It's like they just reloaded their drafted players while benefiting from Benson improving at QB.

Well with this loss it guarantees are 6th straight losing season and 7th out of the last 8. The late 00s early 10s might as well be another lifetime ago at this point. -
I just like how several players in the system seemed to take steps forward this year and in many cases kept getting better as they moved up in competition, it gives me hope that maybe we have something in Garko and Co. on the player development side and can hopefully in due time start to produce MLB caliber prospects regularly like some of the better organizations do.

Watched some of the Florida/Utah game and what I watched I came away impressed with Anthony Richardson. Obviously has plenty of mobility but he also made some NFL type throws standing in the pocket and on the move. I hope he ends up being legit cause that could be another QB that the Lions may have a shot at.

Jobe goes 5 2/3 innings of shutout baseball in WM tonight with 3Ks and 3BBs. Not ideal K/BB ratio but can't argue with not giving up any runs, also according to Hasty the FB was up to 98 which is a good sign.

Gotta admit I'm shocked ND is not only in this game at halftime but actually winning it. I thought for sure that they were going to do what they seemingly always do when the play a high profile game against a really good team and that's get steamrolled.

Since he is coming off a broken hand I will give him a pass for wearing the oven mitt on the basepaths which normally takes away from your grit and toughness. -

The Kreidler effect. -
Jim Bowden put out his list of "10 pitchers primed to make his top 50 in 2023" and Flores was one of them. If that comes to fruition and Jobe progresses along with Madden and we could be having ourselves a Big 3 Part Deux.

Yeah for sure, I wonder when he was on his rehab assignment if it would've helped him at all to go to AA and play with his brother for a couple weeks? Of course it would've just been a short term fix but considering how bad this year has gone for him it may have helped his psyche even if it was just temporary.

Well here's all the strike 3s. The fastball appears to have life to it that plays above the MPH since he was getting whiffs in the zone but that could just be the AA batters, I'm going to be optimistic and say that isn't the reason.

I have no idea how he actually looks but I assume the stuff is looking good but either way it's nice to see Madden finishing up his first pro season strong.

I may have been hyperbolic but there was talks(myself included) that he was somebody we should hang on to and not trade unless we were blown away by an offer. Of course I was kinda being a smart-ass with that post and it was more in jest and how quickly things can change with relievers. -
Its going to come down to health and how their opponents end up being. If their key players stay relatively healthy and the schedule turns out to be as soft as it looks on paper at the moment I don't think 9 wins is out of the question. Im still sticking with 7 or 8 though cause Im sure they will have their share of injuries and/or tough luck losses. I think 10 wins would take all the stars aligning, 9 above average luck with things like TOs and injuries, 7 or 8 standard luck and anything worse normal Lions luck.

I'm old enough to remember when Lange was viewed as untouchable and somebody we should only trade if we got a Godfather offer. -

Meh I was kinda hoping they'd just keep Tork down in Toledo for the rest of the year and let him start with a clean slate next season. -
I must be remembering it wrong then and it wasn't Verlander that said it but instead was the media or Astros themselves but I do know for sure that the narrative going around at the time was how the Astros scouting and/or coaching staff "fixed" Verlander during his dominant run to end that season.

Damn Carpenter hit that hard but got under it just a bit and hit it to the wrong part of the park. -

Not much Riley could've done with that pitch, all you can do is tip your cap to the pitcher after that one. -
Id love to get Strong but I don't know if he would be a good backup but more of a long term project. I mean if we are fine with putting in a raw QB that is likely going to struggle in Strong and don't really care if we win or lose then I'd be fine with taking a flyer on him but if our objective is to get a backup that could potentially win us a 3 or so games if Goff were to miss a month or 2 than I don't think he would be the guy.
-
Didn't we hear similar type comments from Verlander when he went to the Astros and started dominating? Like how the Astros saw something in their video and it fixed his struggles? The only difference is that Verlander was actually pretty dominant the month or 6 weeks leading up to him going to the Astros so it's not like they just magically cured him, he was cured towards of the end of his tenure here.
