Yep, you can't complain all year about how terrible Grossman is then also complain about the return we get back for him. People treated him like he was the worst player in baseball but then expected to get some decent MLB ready prospect for him. Like seriously?

Was looking at his savant page yesterday and there was a helluva lot of red on it. I guess I hadn't realized how good he has looked this year. -

Kinda hard to believe that Perez is still only 24. Considering he is essentially starting his whole minor league career over it still makes him a long shot but he is still young enough that it isn't completely out of the question that he can make it back and have some MLB career.

Lawlar went 6th so there weren't a ton of teams that passed on him and yeah it's too early to say we got it wrong cause Jobe could end up breaking out and those two either stay stagnant or regress but as of now it doesn't look good particularly since Javy has looked terrible and nobody from our system has emerged as a premium ss prospect, atleast not to the level of those two guys.

Pro Football Outsiders came out with their "top prospects" list. They classified it as any player drafted between 2019 and 2021 after the 2nd round and have played less than 600 career snaps. They named 20 guys with 3 of the top 12 being Lions. They had Mcneil at 9, J. Okwara at 11 and Melinfowu at 12.

Yeah I thought I was missing something in regards to Barnhart when all the positive press or tweets about him came out when we acquired him. I didn't know anything about him beforehand so after the excitement I looked up his numbers and was like "what am I missing?", apparently nothing.

Watson's like "Damn why don't you just suspend me longer instead"

Ignorant to how this all works but can Goodell and the NFL appeal or add on to this or is this all final? If it is final that is a giant win for the Browns and especially Watson.

Lawlar at 12 as well I believe. It sure would be nice to have either one of them right now.

https://theathletic.com/3461142/2022/08/01/mlb-top-prospects-2022-minor-leaguers?source=user-shared-article Law's updated top 60, only Tiger on it is Jung at number 58. I figured he'd be the only guy with a real chance since Jobe wasnt on his preseason 100 and hasn't exactly lit it up this season so I didn't think he'd move up.

Definitely one of the best of all time and certainly the best winner of all time along with being one of the most influential ambassadors. So weird though, just the other day a video showed up in yt recommendations about Russell so I thought to myself "I can't remember if he passed away or not?" so I went and checked and saw he was still alive. Two days later he dies, same thing happened to me with John Madden last year. I guess I need to stop googling old athlete/celebs to see if they are still alive.

Sounds like a big deal is coming, the M's just traded for Luis Castillo earlier today too so they must be going all in. edit: NVM should've read through the replies before posting cause in them some Mariners fans said that he is probably getting called up due to J-Rod apparently getting hurt.

I used to ask this before and the way it was explained to me was that ERA is strictly there to show how a guy is at actually pitching the ball independent of mistakes made by fielders including himself, if you punished him for making errors that would also mean you are factoring in his defense which isn't what ERA was supposed to do. -
I can understand both views but I'm on the side of the strategy being fine, unfortunately we just have a guy that either is a terrible negotiator that also doesn't know how to identify and/or a player development program that screws up the development of the guys they got. As much as I hated seeing Verlander go we got a top 30 prospect, a guy who atleast one of the sites ranked in the top 75 in Daz and Rogers who was seen as borderline top 100 by some. If say that top 30 guy in Perez developed into the frontline guy like many thought he could be, Daz became an Austin Jackson like CFer like some thought he could possibly be at one point and Rogers a solid everyday catcher that would make the trade and in turn our rebuild look alot better. Unfortunately none of those things happened, whether it was because those guys were overhyped and never were going to come close to their ceilings or because the Tigers just failed to develop them? Either way is a detriment to the organization but that doesn't change the fact that the idea to trade a pitcher in his mid 30s who had a ton miles on him for 3 young prospects was correct, particularly when they weren't planning to compete for a couple years. It's just unfortunate we had the wrong person pulling the strings and the pitcher we traded away ended up being a once or twice in a generation type who not only didn't decline in his late 30s but may have actually gotten better.

Regarding Torkelson, admittedly this is all just pure speculation on my part and perhaps it's just me trying to be as optimistic about the situation as possible but perhaps the reason for his struggle in AAA is because they noticed something with his swing and specifically sent him down there to work on those things. Like it would be understandable for his numbers to suffer if he is indeed working through a swing change right now, like the old cliche says "it'll get worse before it gets better" applies to swing or approach changes. Again though there has been no confirmation to this, it's just as likely he isn't hitting cause he is broken/lost at the plate but just throwing out another reason other than that why it could be.

Aaron Judge continues to rake, hitting his 42nd bomb of the season today and now is projected to hit 67. I'm not one of those people but I know many fans still throw out all the steroid HR totals and still treat 61 as the true HR record, so if he keeps up his current pace he is going to blow by that. I wonder if the old timers will acknowledge him as the record holder or come up with some excuse so they can hang onto the old 61?

Shane Greene Ladies and Gentlemen should never be on waivers!

Yeah I agree both were rated similar when they were prospects and often compared to each other. While not looking as bad as Tork has this year Vaughn did struggle a bit as a rookie and at times looked horrible but he has bounced back thisyear. Basically what Vaughn has done this year is what we can hope for Tork to do next year. I think Vaughn is going to get better to and eventually be an All Star level bat and unless there is something that can't be fixed with Tork I expect him to end up similar.

Plus Konerko played in the PCL which is notorious for having inflated numbers, the stadiums are all like a bunch of Coors Fields.

That was how I viewed him and expected of him. Yeah power can develop last in many cases but his profile just didn't seem like he would develop it. For starters even though he was young he didn't have a projectable frame, he wasnt like a 20 year old Castellanos who had wide shoulders and the type of frame where you could see he could add a bunch of muscle and in turn power. Parades already looked filled out so if he didn't have the power now it likely wasn't going to come. The second reason was that he wasn't hitting 110mph+ missiles where you thought if he changed his launch angle he'd hit more HRs. So yeah to me it is a huge surprise he developed this power. -

If Okudah can come back and even be a solid starting CB then the Lions have the makings of a really good set of corners with him, Oru and Jacobs who says he plans to be ready by the start of the season. Also despite having a rough rookie season I have high hopes for Melinfowu whether it's at db or safety. I think his physical tools are too good to not have some success in the league, particularly with this coaching staff.

Manning just never looked after he hurt his shoulder in 2019. I'm hoping that they finally got that taken care of hand he can revert to his previous self.
