  1. Many mocks had all hitters going before the Tigers pick so with Rocker going that frees up atleast one bat at the Tigers pick that many thought wouldn't be there for the Tigers.
  2. Whoa after Jones goes to the Dbacks the Rangers take Kumar at 3! Weird about a year ago people thought that they'd take him at 2 instead of Leiter, a year later and they end up with both of them.
  3. Orioles take highly touted 2nd generational player, no not Druw Jones but instead Jackson Holliday HS SS from Oklahoma.
  4. Speaking of the Castros I saw somebody post this mindblowing stat that would have gotten you killer odds before the season started and that is that Harold Castro has made more pitching appearances for the Tigers this season than Manning and Mize combined.
  5. Yep that's how I feel. It takes alot for me to really pile on a hitting coach unlike some fans who seem to at the first sign of bad offense but when you got this many guys hitting way below career norms or expectations it can't all just be a coincidence or on the players. imo I feel there has to be some sorta reason why and the hitting coach and/or instruction the players are getting from the staff in general is the only common denominator.
  6. I was half joking with the Coolbaugh comment cause I know that a hitting instructor can only have so much effect on a hitter's performance but I do think there is something to be said for Tigers hitters approaches whether it come from Coolbaugh or Hinch. I don't think a player's approach at the plate is a one size fit all thing where every player should have the same one and mindset across the board, certain players may just need the "see ball hit ball" approach and I include Tork in that. If you're to believe the talking heads on TV it seems that the Tigers indeed are trying to make all the players have a similar approach and I think that can hurt certain guys and Tork seems to be one of them.
  7. Hopefully time away from Coolbaugh will help Tork get things straightened out. He has the complete opposite of the Midas touch when it comes to working with hitters and their approaches. Guys just perform worse the longer they are around him.
  8. Speaking of trading draft picks In hindsight it seems ridiculous but I still remember one of the national pundits say back before the 2018 draft that we could've gotten a haul for the 1st pick from a playoff contender due to how good Mize was and how ready he was perceived to be. I'm almost certain it was Law but not a 100%.
  9. It's quite a few ifs but if Stewart has found a decent 3pt stroke, Cade becomes consistent outside like most expect and Ivey can be atleast average from deep I think the team will have enough shooting to be halfway decent. Again those are 3 IFs but if it happens you would have them 3 along with Bey, Livers, Burks and Olynyk(assuming he stays in the rotation) as average to plus outside shooters in the rotation. That would really only leave Bagley, Killian and Diallo as non threats and even Diallo shot 39% 2 years ago so perhaps he could find that stroke again. Of course if those things don't happen and Bey shoots like he did the first couple months last season then we will be in big trouble but the optimist in me doesn't think that is gonna happen.
  10. The Suns matched the offer which all but insures they are out of the KD sweepstakes cause Ayton can't be traded till Jan 15th now. Maybe Durant will agree to start the year in Brooklyn and they can facilitate a trade in January but otherwise I don't see how the Suns can come up with the necessary assets to get him without selling off the pieces that make KD want to go there to begin with.
  11. No Bobby Marks is completely bald, not sure who this dude is to be honest.
  12. I got 14-10 from Feb 1st on according to this. https://www.cbssports.com/nba/players/3177949/cade-cunningham/game-log/
  13. I guess it depends on how much stock you put into how they finished with a healthy Cade and Bagley last year cause weren't they like a .500 team in the 2nd half of the season in games Cade played in?
  14. I want to try to atleast make the play in but I would gladly take another horrible season if it meant getting Victor, unfortunately I think we already used up all our lottery luck for the next decade by getting Cade.
  15. My issue is that starting pitchers are getting used less and less so in turn their value is less and less so using an early pick on one seems like a waste. Like now teams are giving their SPs 175 innings a year max and in most cases around 150, considering you play roughly 1500 innings a year of baseball that is just a tiny fraction of innings that they effect in any given season. They'd almost have to turn out to be an ace to have any lasting effect on the team.
  16. Yeah the Tigers also traded one back in the Anibal Sanchez trade some 10+ years ago, I think that was the first year it started.
  17. This is one of those good news bad news type of stats. The good news is the obvious fact that it's nice to have a bp like that, the bad news is that this is one of those things that is volatile and unpredictable so if that number were to head south our record could end up being a lot worse than we are hoping for.
  18. It reminds me of when Sheffield was here, granted even at the state he was in he was like Usain Bolt compared to Cabrera but in general he wasn't that fast but he would often do those type of things and steal bags by catching the other team napping.
  19. I know we're in the same division so it is kinda expected but I swear it seems like we've faced Singer an inordinate number of times in his young career.
  20. Schoop's D definitely passes the eye test. Seemingly atleast once a game there is a ball that off the bat is going to be a hit only to then pan to the field and see him cover a bunch of ground to make the play.
  21. I take it were going to see the same B team for Thursday's summer league finale? Btw Did they ever give an update on Ivey,I assume since I hadn't seen anything yet it must not be serious cause if it was I surely would've came across the news somewhere.
  22. I like the potential starting lineup of Cade, Ivey, Burks, Bey and Stewart. Assuming Stewart's outside shot is indeed legit this would surround Ivey with shooters and give him the most room to operate. Plus I think 4 may be Bey's best position so that's an added bonus.
  23. Happy Brieske Day!
  24. I just find it weird that he decides he doesnt want to play anymore right after signing a long term contract. I mean why not just retire during the offseason? I guess the only thing I can think of is that perhaps he thought switching organizations may light a fire in him or bring back his love for the game and when that didn't happen he knew that it was time to step away.
  25. Ivey off to the locker room with a right ankle injury. He landed on the opponents foot on a 3 point attempt that he was fouled on, hope it's nothing serious. Ivey was able to walk off under his own power and even sink all 3 FT attempts before exiting so hopefully that's a sign it isn't too severe. BTW he dominated the 5 minutes he was out there, looked like the best player on the court for sure and scored 11 points in those 5 minutes in only 2 shots!
