  1. https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-mock-draft-june-22-2022?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage MLB's latest mock just came out and it has us taking Jace Jung. He speculates that atleast 1 of the second tier college bats will be there for us which includes Jung. Also put out the caveat that "Homestate product Porter could be difficult to resist, however, as could Prielipp."
  2. The League: "Sorry guys we blew that but to make it up to you we're gonna move the Red Wings back 3 spots in the next lottery."
  3. Should post this in the MLB thread and not Tigers thread but since this gets more action I'm going to post it here and that is that I just want to acknowledge the greatness of Shohei Ohtani. On Tuesday he hits 2HRs and drives in 8 runs, then the following day he throws 8 shutout innings of 2 hit ball with 13Ks! It's just mind boggling.
  4. I know the trade has been beaten to death but aside from the return what I never got was why they traded him when they did. It was like 2 weeks before the deadline. Why not wait 2 weeks and see if a market develops? Not to mention that although we were in 4th in the division we were still only 5 games back of first place. What if we went something like 11-3 in those 2 weeks and moved to within 2 games by the deadline?
  5. Interesting, so if that is to be believed if Sac does take Ivey do the Pistons trade out of their spot or just take Murray?
  6. It's funny a couple minutes earlier on the puck that hit the crossbar for the Avs I thought to myself watching live "That looked like it hit the top of the net and came out, oh well the ref is right there he would've seen if it did or not" then two minutes later this happened.
  7. Avs win in OT. Everybody thought the goalie had it at first but the puck ended up being in the top of net inside the goal. Colorado now leads the series 3-1 and can close it out at home.
  8. I seeing rumors that they may trade 7 to Toronto for OG.
  9. I don't follow the Red Wings closely but it seems like they are on the right track and have a proven GM at the helm too so they may be the best bet. The Pistons appear to have the superstar needed in the NBA along with some other things going for them so they may be next in line. I'd put the Lions right there as well since I believe in their GM/Coach and they do have some talent but ultimately it will depend on finding that QB whether it be Goff having a resurgence or somewhere else. That leaves the Tigers in a distant 4th. Even if Greene and Tork turn into the stars we hope they still just have so many holes it's hard to see them being a real threat any time soon. They will need a ton of things to go right in the near future for that to happen.
  10. Kevin Pelton of ESPN gave us an A- for the trade. Outside of the aforementioned Hayward he also brought up the possibility of taking on Westbrook from the Lakers. Not sure about the future but I know LAL doesn't have a 1st this year, do they have any young talent that would make it worth are while to pick up that contract?
  11. I think the real mistake was not trading him at the deadline the first year he was here. I guess we don't know what teams offered cause they may have been skeptical of his great start here but he indeed looked and played like a really good player that first half of the season. I think Weaver hoped that he could continue that play the rest of the season and perhaps got a better offer in the offseason. Unfortunately he reverted back to his inefficient self after that and cratered his trade value.
  12. The return was below expectations, particularly when we heard Portland was interested and we started pipe dreaming about getting the 8th pick but it's hard to say if it was weak in general. I mean we've been saying all year how we don't want Grant, how we play better without him and how just the thought of resigning him sent chills up everybody's spine. Now we expect teams to give up any real value for that player? If you were a GM of another team what would you have given for 1 year of control of him and the possible rights to give him a massive extension?
  13. I remember seeing the excitement after we traded for him(maybe not so much on here but from the slappy writers) so I took a gander at his numbers and I was wondering what I was missing to warrant that excitement. Apparently I didn't miss anything.
  14. lol yeah he definitely gives Weaver the benefit of the doubt but what I noticed more with him is that he basically likes to be the contrarian to what all the fans tweet to him. Like if all the fans tweeted how great this move was he would have had a different tone and made it sound like a bad trade. Still love him though.
  15. Could we get Ayton and take on a contract like Heyward? I know everybody is against the idea of Ayton and I can't say I particularly am fond of the idea either but if we don't have to get up any real future assets for him in the sign and trade I don't exactly hate the idea of getting him if it still allows us to have space to pick up an extra 1st or 2 in another trade. Yeah I know his flaws and I know he isn't worth a max but really what's the alternative? Just let the space go to waste or use it on a bunch of Mason Plumlees? He will certainly make us better the next couple years and us being competitive is big if we don't want Cade leaving for greener pastures.
  16. Not that you should be playing for just 1 run with guys on 1 and 3 and no outs but of course we K for the 1st 2 outs but proceed to hit a long flyball for the 3rd out. If it was in any different order we would've gotten atleast 1 run there.
  17. That is just insane. If you gave a pitcher that many ABs they'd probably find a way to produce more extra base hits than that.
  18. Would the Pistons be able to trade that Milwaukee pick right away or is there a certain wait period to it? Just curious cause I wonder if they do indeed want Ivey if they could package that with 5 to swap picks with Sacramento, or would Sacramento possibly just do 5 and 36 for the swap? If the Kings are way higher on Ivey than Murray then I'm sure that wouldn't be enough but if they like both equally or maybe even like Murray more perhaps they would do it, get the guy they want at a slightly lower salary and pick up an extra pick.
  19. Skubal laboring through another rough outing. If he keeps this up he probably won't be our All Star rep after all instead it will be one of our relievers or perhaps even Miggy.
  20. Grant probably would've been the best match, guy that can score but does so inefficiently and the team plays better without him on the floor.
  21. Javy has increased his OPS by a 100 points in the last week. To do that this far into the season is pretty crazy.
  22. Manny Ramirez said something yesterday about how playing for teams like the Yankees and Red Sox help some players cause of the pressure that comes with it. I wonder if that could be part of Baez problem? He played his whole career with the Cubs who are a similar type team and then a half season with the Mets who likewise are like that. Perhaps the passive nature of the Tigers crowd and the low pressure actually does him a disservice and now that he is hitting infront of a packed Fenway crowd that routinely heckle players made him focus more or did something to help step his game up?
