With the draft just over a month away I figure it's time to start a thread. The draft will start on Sunday July 17th and conclude on the 19th. It will be taking place in LA during All Star weekend. The Tigers have the 12th and 51st pick in day 1. They would've had the 72nd pick as well but we traded it for Meadows, we also lost our 3rd round pick due to the signing of E-Rod. I'll post some links to big boards and when more mocks come out we can add to it. MLB.com's ranking https://www.mlb.com/prospects/2022/draft/ Keith Law https://theathletic.com/3366251/2022/06/16/mlb-draft-prospects-kumar-rocker/ CBS https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/top-30-players-in-2022-mlb-draft-druw-jones-jackson-holliday-have-strong-bloodlines-kumar-rocker-makes-list/ fangraphs https://www.fangraphs.com/prospects/the-board/2022-mlb-draft/summary?sort=-1,1&type=0 ESPN https://www.espn.com/mlb/insider/insider/story/_/id/33810529/kiley-mcdaniel-2022-mlb-draft-rankings-20-which-former-mlb-star-son-soars-our-top-150 Some of these rankings are a little old but are the most current they have so hopefully soon there will be some updated ones.

That could go down as one of the all time great trades if Kuminga pans out. Between that trade and the emergence of guys like Poole the Warriors basically were able to extend their window greatly. I thought it may have been shut after Durant left, Klay had the major injury, Draymond looking like he was declining and with Steph just getting older but that obviously wasn't the case. Crazy to think that they could've had Lamelo on this team too instead of Wiseman. BTW I saw a tweet that somebody dug up from pre draft that year from Jayson Tatum that said something like "Jabari(Parker) is way better than Wiggins" lol, of course Tatum was still in HS and either already committed to or was planning to commit to Duke which is where Jabari was playing but I just found that funny considering years later he faced him in the Finals.

I imagine their ping pong games go pretty quickly, these guys can't even hit a baseball so you expect them to hit a ping pong ball with any sorta consistency? They probably get a couple volleys every point and thats it.

Jack's been better this year but he still does too much "back in my day" talk for my liking which is why I don't like having a player from that generation call games. It's to the point now that the game is almost a completely different sport than it was 4 decades ago when he played so it's almost pointless to hear how he used to do things. Petry does about a good of job out of the Tigers crew of not being guilty of that, if he does do it he usually prefaces it with saying how the game is different now and some of things he did don't apply to today's game.

I'm really not in a position to say what's best for the team in terms of how they should be acting in the clubhouse but I will say that it definitely isn't a good luck to your average fan when they hear the team that they spend their money and time following is just treating everything as status quo and having a jolly good time behind the scenes despite them playing like crap. Perhaps them staying status quo and having that jolly good time is what is best for their psyche and in turn best thing for them to turn it around, I really don't know but personally I think if that is what they believe and what they are doing for P.R. reasons they should've kept that to themselves. Atleast put on the front that you guys are pissed off and are doing everything you can to try to turn it around whether that be watching more game film breaking down pitchers or whatever, the fans would rather hear that then hear you say that you guys are all loose having ping pong tournaments after getting shut out for the millionth time.

We need Riley to wear that bomb outfit from the Hurt Locker every time he comes to plate just in case.

Saw a tweet earlier tonight that I meant to clip but it showed the teams with highest chase percentage as a team in June are us and the Braves. We all know how terrible our offense and team has been this month, meanwhile the Braves have scored over 100 runs this month and thus far are undefeated.

Brieske to be better than Verlander confirmed! Atleast that's what the homer part of my brain concludes after seeing this.

I was thinking of taking my 4 year old daughter to her first game this summer but I'm afraid if she sees this product she will turn against baseball forever.

22nd time in 63 games we scored 1 run or less. Horrible enough as that is, in the last 46 we have done it 20 times so we're just getting worse and worse. It's almost to the point where it's a coin flip whether we are going to score more than 1 run.
-
Terrible call to end the game, I would be more upset but lets face it all it prevented was the Rangers pitcher from throwing another pitch and seeing Hasse hack at a slider off the plate.
-
While I disagree with the decision unfortunately that's how managers always treat the closers, they seem to get the longest leash. They get to stay in until it's too late, if that was anybody else there would have been somebody up throwing after the first walk then rocket from the 2nd hitter but not for the closer.
-
I do like how when the Tigers hitters get burned on a strike call Jack will say something like "Just outside the zone but as a hitter you can't take it that close", then when the Tigers pitchers get the benefit it's "That pitch wasn't near the zone, Tigers got lucky there."
-
Good call blue!

Soto with the longest underhand throw I have ever seen, it worked though. Perhaps the Tigers should've used that method in the 06 WS.

I mentioned him before on here but Austin Bergner had another great start for Erie. 6 innings of 3 hit, 1 run ball with 7 Ks to drop his season ERA to 2.41 with a 1.01 whip and 9 k/9. I don't know how legit of a prospect he is, he's 25 so not exactly young but was just drafted in 2019 so doesn't have a ton of pro experience. Only info I can really gather about him was that he was a top 5ish pitching prospect coming out HS but chose to go to UNC instead. It would be nice if he rounds into another legit pitching prospect, perhaps if we gather enough of them we may be able to deal some for a legit bat.

Whoa a Riley Greene sighting on a Tigers telecast.....too bad it's for a Car Shield commercial and not him on the field.
-
In the top of the first the Tigers got a 3-1 count and swung and missed on an offspeed pitch, then got a 2-0 count and preceded to hit a weak groundball on an offspeed pitch below the zone. I don't have the stats but it feels like this is a common occurrence with them, when they do get ahead in the count the opposing team doesn't even bother throwing a FB for a strike cause they know they will jump on a bad pitch.
-
Out of the 156 qualified hitters 147 of them have a better RC+ than our team and out of the 9 that don't 4 of them are Tigers including the bottom 3. So there's essentially 5 everyday players throughout the entire league that are worse with the bat than our team has been.
-
Yeah I'm beating a dead horse and it's not news that our offense is terrible but here's just a nice clean visual of just how bad.
-
Forgot to copy the link and now I can't find the tweet but anyway I saw a tweet that said Campos was hitting like a .950 OPS in June in low A. He just turned 19 the other day and this is his first full season of pro ball so that's a good sign he is already starting to pick things up. It would be nice if we could finally hit on international market.

https://theathletic.com/3365655/2022/06/16/nba-draft-2022-top-75-prospects/ Hollinger's latest big board. Since its him I don't know if it's more analytical or scouting based, reading through some of the reports it has a bit of both but not sure how much it sways to either side. He has tier 1 guys as 1. Jabari 2. Paulo Tier 2 3.Ivey 4. Chet Tier 3 5. Mathurin 6. Sharpe 7. Murray Tier 4 Sochan, 9. Daniels 10. Minott 11. Wesley

I love the post that one of the commentators of the article put, to paraphrase "The first question the NBA should use in their concussion protocol is 'Do you want to play for the Kings'"

Lions Draft Grades and After Draft Talk/What's Next?
RandyMarsh replied to AlaskanTigersFan's topic in Detroit Lions
Okudah is a major question mark not only because of his first year but because of the achilles injury. While I think we have made advances in it to the point that isn't isn't a death knell to somebody's career it's still an injury that is more devastating than say an ACL tear. The fact that somebody like Ojabo could be drafted in the 2nd round despite just tearing his makes me think that NFL teams don't fear it as much as they used to. If it was viewed as a potential career killer like it used to be no way would a team use that early of pick on a guy that just ruptured his. -
The ironic thing is that the fact that our guys are having such horrible years may be the best thing for Avila. For arguments sake lets pretend that Chris actually gives a shit about the team and is indeed thinking of firing Al. He may be able to convince Chris that these guys are off to such flukishly bad starts that nobody could have foreseen coming which is why the team is losing and once those stats correct themselves the team will turn it around. On the other hand if the guys were performing at or near their personal expectations AND the team was still losing Al would have no excuse, it would show that he constructed a team that wasn't capable of winning even when the players are performing to expectations.
