I don't think either been convicted of a felony or violent crime such as domestic violence. The worst is a DUI, writing bad checks and child support problems. None of that would disqualify a person from purchasing a firearm in Michigan. When you buy a firearm in Michigan you have to fill out a questionnaire and then that information is run through the background check.
-
You should take a look at what's happening today. New York and California have no bail rules. Other places have low bail but this mostly follows liberal prosecutors and judges. These judges are the ones giving light sentences for violent crimes. Look what happened to Darrell Brooks in WI after he was out on $1000 bail. That's not the only case. One complaint is we are running out of prison space. If that's the case they should be building a lot more. Our population is growing daily.

I'm not disagreeing with background checks but there needs to be some changes made so they work better. When myself or anyone goes to buy a gun most times that check takes about 15 minutes but it can take days depending on the how well staffed they are on the government end. I don't know what they want to do to expand them. It may be a good plan and maybe not. No matter what it wouldn't have stopped the kid from getting the gun because the father was the legal purchaser. There are much bigger issues in the criminal justice system that needs to be looked at. One of the big ones is proper sentencing, bail reform and the no bail guidelines in NY and other places. They let violent offenders walk around free because they don't want to be offensive to certain people. Other are given light sentences. For example the two girls who killed the Uber driver in a carjacking in Washington DC. They are in Juvenile Detention until they are rehabilited or until they are 21 years old at the latest. They should be spending a lot of time in prison. You like to blame things on the GOP but its the democrats that are letting these criminals walk free and continue to commit violent crimes.

Then at the end of WW2 or right after the Soviets were a biggest threat. Iran and China should be our biggest concern right now especially when (not if) Iran gets a nuclear weapon.
-
Russia is a threat but I believe China is a much bigger threat. They are building a massive military and arsenal. They aren't afraid to be the aggressor and they do what they want no matter what anyone else things. They play a huge role in our economy and many high powered political figures are too chummy or in bed with them.

Kind of like you partisan rhetoric! 😁

But that's not helping my investments today.

I wouldn't be surprised if they turn themselves in with their lawyer. I doubt they are actually running because everyone gets caught eventually. Nothing they have done yet has been smart so maybe they are.
-
That's what I thought too. Who knows why? The kid would have still been in trouble but nothing like he is now.
-
I haven't heard this. What possible charges could they face? From what I understand so far is that when the school admin met with the parents and the kid, it was the day of the shooting. The kid had the gun in his bag or locker at that time. Its easy to look back and say they should have searched the kid. I assume the parents didn't let on they bought the gun a few days earlier. On a radio show I was listening to earlier today, the mom sent the kid a text saying Don't do it. They were thinking that after the meeting she went home and looked for the gun and couldn't find it.
-
That will all depend on what the parent(s) said and what they filled out on the paperwork. If the gun shop knew they were purchasing for the kid its possible the shop would have issues and could lose their FFL.

This is an absolutely stupid thing to say and its so far from the truth.

Winning the WS would be huge but for me its not the end all. The last two times they were in the WS has been pretty disappointing. I think they won one game in 2006 and were swept in 2012. I look forward to a competitive season where they are in contention for the post season. The last few years have been painful when the team they put on the field wouldn't of had a chance to win the Little League WS.

LOCKOUT '22: When will we see baseball again?
Archie replied to Motor City Sonics's topic in Detroit Tigers
I voted for "on time" but that's optimistic that both sides realize they are shooting themselves in the foot if it doesn't. They need to lock themselves in a room and not come out without a deal. I think the life of the sport depends on it. Fans won't take it well if the season doesn't start on time and they won't all come back when it does.- 1,851 replies

In other shooting news, Alec Baldwin now claims he didn't pull the trigger. I think his lawyers have gotten to him. A gun won't fire on its own and he was holding it.
-
There might be sentencing guidelines in Michigan that would require them to only give the kid so much time if convicted. I think I remember some sentences being changed for people convicted as a minor even if charged as an adult.
-
The kids will most likely spend a good portion of his life behind bars. The bigger question is will one or both of his parents share the same fate? Even if convicted, I doubt the parents would get more than a few years but it still destroys their life. Their life is already destroyed at this point but it doesn't make up for the lost lives.

It looks bad, there's no disagreement on that. I want to know more before I condemn someone like this. Its more than political banter of throwing accusations over something. RIttenhouse looked bad too until we saw the entire video.
-
When we discussed Rittenhouse all the facts had been out for a long time. Even then a couple things came out at trial that was new. All I'm saying with the officer is wait for all the detail to come out. He might be 1000% guilty or he might not. A police officer is different than the everyday civilian carrying a concealed handgun. The officer has a duty to protect the public and him or herself. If the guy in the wheelchair had a knife and if the officers felt he was a danger to others they couldn't let him go back in the store. What would have happened had the guy went back in the store and stabbed someone or took hostages? Just because he's in a wheelchair doesn't make him harmless. In all officer involved shootings there is one thing in common and that is they don't shoot just once. They are trained to remove the threat and fire multiple times. The police bureaucrats may have jumped the gun and fired the officer or maybe they know things that haven't been released. When all is said and done the officer might spend the rest of his life in prison or he might sue for back pay and reinstatement. Nobody here knows they just think the bad guy is the one with the gun legally. There is a lot of jumping to conclusions and bad information on the politics part of this forum.
-
Apparently the guy in the wheelchair had a knife. Why don't you let the facts come out before you crucify someone. I know some of you like to assume things you have no idea about so remember this is the USA and a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
-
You should just give it break. You are so far out in left field that your not even in the ballpark anymore. I'm trying to be nice but you really have no idea what you are talking about in regard to firearms in the US and its more obvious with every post.
-
That's a good point. To most people its like the abortion argument in that its all or nothing. They need to start properly enforcing the laws on the books and start punishing people beyond a slap on the wrist for their crimes no matter who or what they are. Yesterday the prosecutor in the Oxford case said we need more gun laws. The kids already broke several laws so what makes you think he would abide by any more laws.
-
You are against guns and your comments prove it. You are against deer rifles if you think semi automatics should be banned. Most rifles are semi automatic and they operate the same as AR-15 rifles. I mentioned before that some people here know nothing about firearms and its obvious in the comments. Theyre just repeating what some anti gun liberal source tells them.
-
The best thing McConnell ever did in his career was keep Garland off the SCOTUS bench. That POS has shown his true colors as a very politicized AG. Kagan and Sotomayor are more politicians than we need on the court that is supposed to be non-political.
-
You anti gun people can only see one side. While we stop making guns, let stop making anything that is used to kill people. The will be no more vehicles produced because they kill people everyday and are used as a weapon to kill. Stop producing knives, hammers and even staplers for the same reason. By all means stop building and flying airplanes. We all know what they are capable of. See how rediculous your anti gun rhetoric is. If you are afraid of guns or don't like them you should not have them but it doesn't mean other people aren't capable of owning and using them properly. Same as vehicles, knives, airplanes etc.
