He knows his arm well. He pitches on the side every week between starts. Pitching on one day less rest happens often for pitchers in the playoffs so it’s not a super rare thing. A must win game 4 is more valuable since there is no game 5 without it. My point is it would be a shame to lose in 4 games and only pitch Skubal once because you were saving him for a game that never happened.

The more I think about it maybe the best move is to let Tarik decide. Does he want to stay on normal rest or does he want the ball in Game 1. Let him make the call. He knows better than anyone if short rest would make any difference in this situation.

I have zero fears of winning non-Skubal games. I have no trepidation about the bully. He’s such a weapon that I think it’s smart to maximize it as much as possible in a short series. I don’t want to even mess around with the chance of getting down and not having him as an option if our back are against the wall.

You are teaching a great lesson for kids to learn about working to save up for things they want. Many a rock band started with members selling weed to their classmates to scrape up enough money for gear.

I guess it comes down to me being more scared of possibly losing the series in 4 games and Skubal only pitching once than I am of him possibly struggling in Game 1 on short rest.

The challenge is that if you pitch him Game 2 on Monday, there’s no way that he can go in what may be a must win Game 4 on Thursday. He may not even get a chance to pitch twice.

The bye came at the perfect time as they have the difficult task of preparing to beat two teams next week in Dallas. The Cowboys desperately need a win and will be tough on their own but the real test for the Lions will be overcoming the undefeated NFL Officials. It’s going to take an extra special effort to defeat the zebras in Jerry world. They’ve been brutal to the Lions there in the past and it will most likely be the same again this time.

I read the article and there appear to be 2 main issues they have. Seider didn’t play to the level he was supposed to last year according to their analytics. They aren’t sure if he’s just the best defenseman on a bad team or if he can be one of the top 5 in the league. They see weakness up the middle with Copp and Compher. The numbers weren’t good last year and they see them regressing instead of a slight rebound. It’s hard to argue these two points but I think that both Seider and the 2 disappointing centers improve. The cap has a lot to do with it but running it back with Copp and Compher is a big move from Stevie. He’s got faith in these veteran players but hard to see this team improving much if they don’t step up their production.
