  1. How we doing? Avila working on his, “we made a lot of calls, but couldn’t find a fit that we thought was going to make us a better team” talking points?
  2. that was more of a general comment, not specific to Marsh. Agree, he's a bad fit--K's over 30%, too. Our issue is that we can't be sellers because our only tradable assets are relievers, which we're seeing over the last few days, are a commodity in the league. We can't be buyers because we don't have the prospect capital that others teams do (which is criminal given where we've drafted the last few years). Even if we wanted to flip our recent 1st rounders, how much value would Mize, Tork and Jobe have?
  3. why can't we have nice things?!?
  4. Still a lot of time left, and teams always need more bullpen pieces. However, the closer we get to the deadline, the less leverage we have trying to get any value for Fulmer. We’re not privy, but you have to wonder if Avila gets too aggressive with his ask, that teams just look elsewhere.
  5. Maybe the Yankees, too?
  6. Sounds like the draftees (position players) will get assignments this weekend. Will be interesting with all of the middle infielders—wonder if they’ll challenge Pacheco at WM? I don’t think Santana or Sequera look ready yet.
  7. Al really is in a no-win situation. One that he put himself in.
  8. Grossman trade is addition through subtraction—more AB’s for Greene, Baddoo, and possibly Cameron. 3 guys who could have a future vs one that had zero. It’s a shame that Grossman fell off so sharply this year—easy to forget his contributions last season. Hope he can turn things around with the Braves.
  9. Does Anglin have a brother? I’d be fine going with Haase and Garneau until Rogers is ready.
  10. Yes, just suggesting he’d be more likely since it wouldn’t require making room for Carpenter.
  11. Cameron is on the 40 man.
  12. Avila feeling some relief that he swung a deal this deadline. Now off to the Applebee’s with his team for some celebrating.
  13. Not in the Braves top 30.
  14. This is the classic “any live body” will do here.
  15. We might see Chafin after all tonight.
  16. This is so 2022. One of your few expendable trade assets self-implodes on Deadline Eve.
  17. Looks like Jose Quintana heading to the Cardinals. Combined with Skubal’s injury, it would appear that Tarik is staying put.
  18. The definition of high risk, high reward.
  19. Skubal really went to extremes to avoid getting traded.
  20. It does seem odd to pull Skubal there. Pitching a shutout, close game, relatively low pitch count. If it was to audition relievers, why bring in Vest? I’d be surprised if he were to move.
  21. Call Derek Hill up (too soon?)
  22. We’re going to see both Fulmer and Chafin tonight, I suspect. Last chance for a pre-deadline audition.
