  1. if you had never seen goff play and you read this thread, you'd think he was either tom brady or rusty hilger. lol.
  2. goff isnt patrick mahomes. nobody else is. you can win with goff, he does a lot of things well. i think he does things well that we fans dont really see, like getting the line in the right place, audibiling out or into plays, and he makes a lot of good throws into tight windows and good anticipatory throws. remember that throw to st brown early in the game right before the safety got there? great throw. he doesnt have a cannon for an arm. he cant move. he doesnt do well under pressure. but he's still good. you can do a LOT worse than jared goff in this league. hopefully hendon hooker is the next russell wilson, but the odds of that are slim. in the meantime, the lions have a good qb for the first time in a very long time. not perfect, but pretry darn good.
  3. i wouldnt call this SOL, but i wouldnt call it BNL either. it was one really good season. they had a really good season in 1991 and it looked like they were ready to break out and be a contender for the next 5 years. they got to the playoffs pretty regularly (even won a division)but couldnt get over rhe hump. same thing could happen here. i think they have better leadership now, so i hope it will be different this time. but its the nfl, things change week to week, much less season to season. i hope we become the ravens (consistently good and very good talent evaluators) and not the early 90s lions.
  4. i dont see jonah jackson coming back. too pricey and too injured. galsgow maybe on another one year deal?
  5. i wouldnt bring cjgj back. he wasnt very good when he played. that might have been because of health but regardless, his play wasnt great. they need a lot of secondary help. secondary, iol, defensive end. i would expect both okwara's gone (julian is already gone). although maybe they keep romeo on a very cheap deal? harris is gone. houston is still cheap so he might stay, but the guy was on the bubble before he got hurt. im not sure he's a long term answer.
  6. that was the worst call. the two 4th downs are defensible.
  7. we were starting kindle vildor at corner against two of the best receivers in the league. its a testament to the team that we were even in the game, much less winning it.
  8. for some reason i thought they traded a pick this year for dpj and had to give one up for hock. they do have all their picks.
  9. glass half empty: a lot of that cap space goes to raises for their current players. goff was 0-8 when pressured yesterday. they dont have all their draft picks next year and pick low in the draft. but i dont really want to play that game. they had their best season in a half century and we should be happy we got to see it.
  10. analytics said go for it both times. josh reynolds: thank you for your service. now see yourself out. cjgj is gone. walker will be gone. jerry jacobs. will harris. theyre going to need an entirely new secondary. i doubt cam sutton goes anywhere but - hopefully - to the second corner spot. nothing in guaranteed. the oline is the heart of the team and decker and ragnow are getting old. jonah jackson likely isnt coming back. glasgow is also a vet who is out of contract. ragnow has been dealing with injuries all year long. ben johnson is gone. it doesnt look like glenn is going anywhere, but johnson leaving could be huge. you never know when you'll get breaks and win playoff games. its sad they blew this game. i would rather have had them just lose rather than blow a huge lead and have everyone talking about it. besides, it got my hopes up that they might actually win. and its the hope that kills you.
  11. the play calls are fine. they just cant make a play. cam sutton misses eveey tackle. meifonwu misses the easy sack. vildor drops a pick that goes right to aiyuk for a td. reynolds drops TWO first downs. the players are playing terrible and not making plays.
  12. i dont underatand why campbell told reynolds to drop that first down. what a terrible coach.
  13. i've been a lions fan for 50 years and this all feels so very familiar.
  14. can anyone in this league play defense?
  15. not sure where they would play and the population wont pony up for a new arena. so i doubt it.
  16. nashville is a definite possibility. seattle and vegas are the obvious choices for expansion. austin is really close to san antonio, not sure that would work. san jose - although very close to san fran - could be another possibility. if the nfl can move the cleveland browns, any team can be moved no matter how long they have ties to a community. gores is a hedge fund guy, his company takes big bets on distressed assets, milks them for all theyre worth, tears them down, and then sells the parts. they already sold the palace, not sure what else there is to strip from the pistons? that said, he owns an asset that has appreciated in value immensely since he bought it. and there is a big expansion fee coming. maybe he decides to deal the team to whatever entities get left out of the expansion game?
  17. duren whupped chet's as$. thanks schedule makers!
  18. no. but it means the pistons will trade for klay thompson and give him a huge extension.
  19. i fairness to juwan, the university prevented them from getting caleb love and terrance shannon, which would have made the team much better. however, he still has to coach the team and the results have been poor (and getting poorer) every year. it all started with his kids.
  20. where? vegas and seattle?
