  1. If your goal is to measure overall value to your team, then quantity is very important. Every time a starter doesn't play, the team has to use a most likely inferior backup. I agree that measuring defense is a problem. Blindly using WAR as an evaluation tool is not a good idea. It is best to consider the elements of WAR separately.
  2. Semien leads the league in at bats because he is durable which is an important skill. I would definitely prefer Correa because of his age though.
  3. All stats are good. People are bullshitters.
  4. Hinch read Tango's book and saw that the best hitter should not hit third.
  5. There is a different feeling in the clubhouse this Spring that wasn't their last year. There is a strong team chemistry and winning attitude. Victor Reyes put on 15 pounds of muscle and has a new swing. This is the year he hits 30 home runs. Miguel Cabrera lost 20 pounds over the winter and is in the best shape of his life.
  6. That might be just what the old school Republicans want. He gets them back in power but doesn't get in their way!
  7. Biden has a very low favorability rating. you need to consider other candidates. Sanders has done better than most candidates in past primaries. I see nothing wrong with him running again. He'll lose again, but so what?
  8. I hope that's true, but I am not convinced. If the economy gets screwed up enough, I think it can happen.
  9. They would care because the one thing they fear more than liberals is foreigners.
  10. Is there anything stopping Trump from being president if he is convicted? You would think it's not allowed, but it might be one of those things that is just assumed. I don't know.
  11. The NL has caught up to the AL in interleague play and even took the lead in 2018-2019. The AL seemed to regian dominance in 2021 winning 55.7% of interleague games but that looks like an anomaly as it's it is pretty even again this year.
  12. Yes, not winning elections is the only thing that might happen. However, I think he would have won in 2020 if it were not for Covid. He also is probably making more money off his loss than he would have being president. He'll win the Republican nomination in 2024 and will win the general election if the economy is not good which is a strong possibility.
  13. It's not going to get worse. He is going to get away with it just like he has gotten away with everything his entire life.
  14. 7 home runs in his last 10 games. And he is at least 42 years old.
  15. It seems like Hinch said something he didn't need to say. Did he learn that from Avila?
  16. I don't demand that Hinch be held accountable. I am just having fun at the expense of those who were calling him a genius based on May through September last year.
  17. As I said, I am neutral on Hinch. They'll win more games when they have better and healthier players.
  18. Maybe not so much this year, but last year lots of people were saying that Hinch had changed the organization from loser to winner. And April didn't count for some reason. It turned out that when players don't perform, the manager doesn't look so great. Same as it always was.
  19. One of my all-time favorite role players. I loved the Wockenfuss-Summers platoon.
  20. I definitely don't get the impression that you adore anyone. 🙂
  21. That is fine, but rooting for someone is not the same as adoring him.
  22. I am neutral on Hinch. I don't think he is a problem. It just seems like a lot of fans think he can do no wrong and they want to blame everyone but Hinch for the team's problems this year.
  23. If he has weaknesses, they probably already know about them. I believe the reason some players strart out strong and then quickly fade is that pitchers don't want to waste all their high stress pitches on a rookie and they want to see if they can get him out with less than their best. I am not saying this is what's happening with Carpenter. I am speaking in general.
  24. It was probably not genuine, but I also feel like some working class people who self identify as conservatives are socially conservative but not really so economically conservative. They may view poor peple as lazy and not wanting work, but they can also see that their employers don't treat them so well.
  25. AJ Hinch is the best. He won a World Series with the Astros.
