What WRs worth a damn has Sherrone recruited and added to this team? Maybe Andrew Marsh develops into a legit #1 WR. Whether it was Sherrone or Whittingham, WR is one of this teams biggest needs and they were going to have to hit the portal for a good one in all likelihood. I think Whittingham and his staff should be reaching out to Marsh and working to get him in maize and blue next year.

This organization loves the next man up approach whenever possible. My guess is they will either give Scottie Montgomery a chance or bringing in someone, akin to Morton, who was under their umbrella previously like a JT Barrett. I think they should go and get a higher profile OC who has run a successful offense before. If Mike McDaniel gets let go in Miami or Zac Taylor in Cincinnati, they'd be a top choices of mine. Rams Passing Game Coordinator Nate Scheelhaase would be a name I would be interested in as well. I think this organization is married to a certain way of doing business, so I don't know if we'll get an outsider, not from the Campbell tree, to come in. I'd like to be wrong and think they can deviate from the plan though.

Oh I've had no issue rooting for a loss in the past. I don't like doing it per say and it sucks we are at this point. I'd rather this game be for the division or a playoff spot at minimum. I'm not some sicko who wants to lose. But when losing presents the better option for the long-term benefit of the team, I'll take it.

A loss would make their schedule that much easier next year as they will clinch a 4th place schedule. With the right combinations of other teams winning and losing they can move up to as high as the 12th pick in the draft. If Miami, Tampa, and Dallas all win we can move up to the 12th pick in the draft I do believe.

Now that Wittingham is in place as Head Coach, his first recruiting priority should be not to let MSU WR Nick Marsh leave the State of Michigan. They need to back up the NIL dump truck full of cash and bring him to Michigan. No reason whatsoever that Marsh should not be getting a call and a generous offer from Michigan. He's a native Detroiter after all.

This is a pointless stat, but watching Jalen Carter play and be effective tonight in the Eagles/Bills game it got me thinking. Since 2000 only two RBs drafted in the first round made a Super Bowl with the team that drafted them. Joseph Addai with the Colts and Clyde Edwards-Helaire with the Chiefs. Conversely, 22 DTs drafted in the first round have made a Super Bowl with the team that drafted them.

Someone's going to have to Nancy Kerrigan Crosby first for Holmes to be interested. The guy has played in waaaay too many games throughout his career for Holmes to be interested. Too highly priced and not enough cap value that an injured player offers. I've given up on the idea of Brad making a splash move for now. I think something substantial needs to be done, but given where they are headed salary cap wise, I can't see Brad pulling the trigger on a player as highly paid as Crosby. You're more likely to have them run it back with Marcus Davenport than you are getting Crosby.

Oh, yesterday was SOL's greatest hits. Turnovers, fumbles, interceptions, bad coaching, having a unique thing happen to the team with the passing yards stat, losing up a third string QB. You can't deny the game yesterday was SOL.

The other thing I'm happy with is they didn't hire a Michigan Man for the job. Nothing worse than hiring someone just because one time, somewhere in the distant past they had some affiliation with the program. Oh his father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate once coached for Bo, let's hire him. They hired a guy based on the needs of the program and his qualifications for the job. They did not hired based on who he once knew in the past and any prior Michigan affiliations he might have had. I hope the Michigan Man things is dead and buried. With it, they can bury the legacy of the guy that potentially ran cover for a pedophile in Bo and Dr. Anderson.

Wittingham seems like a legitimately solid human being. He seems to be an ethical, honorable man, who leads young men and runs a football program the right way. He has been free of bad culture, recruiting violations, scandals, etc. during his time at Utah. I hope he'll be able to carry it over to Michigan and clean up things in their program and really the entire department.

I was worried they were going to give Poggi a one year interim deal or simply settle with hiring Brohm. Wittingham is a superior hire to Brohm and the kind of hire you make if you're serious about turning the culture around at Michigan.

Wittingham seems way too squeaky clean for Warde to have hired.

Well OK then. I really didn't think there was anything to him resigning when he did at Utah, but maybe where there is smoke there is fire. This would be about as good a hire as Michigan could expect to get at this point.

Admitting you are wrong is one of the harder things to do in life. Hard because it sucks to be wrong about something and have to acknowledge it. But also hard because of the psychology of the human ego and mind. Some people lack the capacity go admit they are wrong because their ego has them jaded and certain about their decisions. For others, they may see what they are doing is wrong but are to arrogant, afraid, or proud to admit they are wrong. I don't know if any of this applies to Brad, Dan, or the front office. This offseason will tell us for sure. As you said, they need to do some soul searching and reevaluate their plan of action as far as roster construction goes. They need to recognize the mistakes they've made in talent evaluation in the draft. They need to recognize how aggressive they've been in trading up and that it hasn't always worked. In some cases, it's been to their detriment. They need to understand that just as you can't build a team entirely through free agency, you can't expect every draft pick to hit either. You're going to have to shore up your roster holes (and even acknowledge where the holes are to begin with) through free agent signings. It doesn't mean you go crazy, blowing money on the marquee talent that's available, but pieces will assuredly have to be added. If Brad goes out and gives another one of those receipts press conferences again after this subpar ass season, there will be a lot of people who turn on him. They need to eat a big slice of humble pie, be introspective, understand where things went wrong, and admit that to themselves, if nobody else.
