  1. Unfortunately he won't. The lines are drawn and he's got his typical defenders in the Senate. We're stuck with him. Resignation is weakness to them. This is the new world we live in. Gary Hart and Ted Kennedy could have been President under these rules.
  2. More stuff coming out. Crow paid private school tuition for a grand nephew that Thomas was raising. No disclosures. Even worse.... someone else did provide a gift worth $5000 for that person and Thomas DID disclose it. So he knew the rules enough to disclose that one.
  3. After being a member of quite a few space related Facebook groups I can tell you there are a lot of people who still believe that.
  4. CNN moving right is a dead strategy. They are permanently stained from Trump's attacks and his fans will never go back. Tucker Carlson could go on there and they'd just say Tucker sold out rather than CNN.

    MAP PR0N!

I looked at those maps of my neighborhood from the 1940's and it confirms something. Across the street from me they have really deep backyards. When my neighbor was installing a fence they found cement slabs for an old sidewalk. The fence installer said the old drawings show that there was the intent to have another street there but they abandoned that idea, instead putting up a cul-de-sac in another portion. The old map confirms the street being called out at least. Later maps show it correct.
  6. We saw them at the State Theater (Club X) in like 1991/1992 for free. Friends of ours met that night and later got married.
  7. We went to a baseball game in Cincy years ago on a Sunday and we couldn't get a beer until 12. My family's county in TN is a dry county. You can buy beer but not booze. Have to go to Jackson county for that. Right on the border there's a huge store that sells it. But that county also has every chain restaurant that exists in the US.
  8. Oh wow. I didn’t know that and I would have remembered because of jfk. One side effect of that is false sense of invincibility and… sex drive. He had a quack doctor injecting him with who knows what. RFK expressed comcern as it was off the books and he said “I don’t care if it’s horse piss. It works”. That was for his back issues too.
  9. I didn’t plan on going to any of them because of weather. I’m past the point of being miserable at a game. If it’s under 50 and damp or windy… I am out.
  10. My third postponement this season. 3 out of 5 games so far.
  11. A Brit friend of mine claims Reed is his hero.
  12. Sister in law lives there. Went for their wedding and again 4 years ago. Take the canton/Novi/Plymouth area. Multiply by 30. That’s the metro Dallas region. Every road is just miles and miles of subdivisions, new subdivisions, strip malls anchored by Lowe’s or Home Depot or Wal Mart or Costco…. Every mile is another one. Do a 360 and you will see 4 construction cranes.
  13. He had some condition or disorder that makes his voice like that. I don’t remember what it’s called. I don’t care enough about him to look it up. But it’s due to a specific thing.
  14. I'm basing my question simply on reactions I see from Canadian friends in terms of pride. Gord Downie is a good one b/c I remember when he died listening to my Canadian friends at the game (I am surrounded by you) go on and on about it. Like I remember Gordie Howe's funeral being broadcast on CBC, like he was a President. And he's got the new Bridge!
  15. we had a work outing at Nemo's before going to a game and many of us did exactly that.
  16. The legend was that during the game he walked down the street to whatever was where Casey's pub was and listened on the radio, but I don't think that's true.
  17. Yes. This is not a path you want to go down.
  18. I deleted that crap
  19. oh so now I don't feel like crap for not going tonight b/c of weather. Was hoping to see JV tomorrow.
  20. Damn that sucks.... it's like finding out a celebrity I like is a scientologist. It really skews my viewing.
  21. Is it fair to say that outside of government/military that Gordon and Gordie are Canada's biggest names? In terms of national pride?
  22. I know the legion halls are struggling. Returning vets are not joining. Part of it is simply demographics. Before you had clusters of people living together in cities and the inner ring suburbs. The "boys" wanted a place to go. Now people are scattered all over the place and the need to "get together" is diminished in part by social media. We don't in general gather like we used to socially because we're connected in other ways. That's in all aspects of life. Even 20 years ago I was more likely to just go hang out at a sports bar with friends to watch a playoff game on a big TV. Now I can do that at home and just text everyone or post here. I've only been to legion or VFW halls for funeral or grad parties. We also have a polish and Czech catering hall that I've been to for events and it's very similar in nature. I love those places. The paneled walls.. cheap beer in the small glasses.

Ohio got kind of a big head there....
  24. I think any company that tells you your house is worth $$$ should legally be required to buy it from you for that price if you wish.... kind of like what Elon did with Twitter. Xfinity's app is the same way. Before I could just go there and do a reboot of something. Quickly. Now with the "better app" it seems like all it does is try to get me to buy more internet or security. In order to do anything or get any info, you have to basically use the AI chat tool.
