Chicago did it to help the migrants because they are people. DeSantis did it because he's an asshole. He had no goal of helping the migrants. He was using them as pawns. They could have died for all he cared. Yes I believe that 100%
There isn't. Not to a compassionate human being at least. I'm not any more special because I was born in Detroit than someone born in Ecuador. I will not hide from that.
How are migrants looking for a better life any different than condo owners in FL who got assistance when FL's shitty regulations led to their building collapsing?
Why is one group deserving of aid but not the other? Because they won the birth lottery? Ron Deshantis can go fuck himself.
I can’t wrap my head around the idea people think it’s a good idea to put twice as many cars in one lane when two are open.
the people who get over right away are the ones who cause the traffic backup. The lane is not closed until it’s closed which is indicated by a barrier blocking the road.
Did he stop at his resort, spend a few days, make the secret service stay there, make them rent golf carts, etc. etc. etc. because you know... "both sides" bullshit.
those folks are making things easier for people behind them by making the clogged up lane less cloggy. It's the people "waiting patiently" that caused the problem. If they had stayed in the closing lane they would be 1/2 mile up the road past the closure and moving along at a decent clip... but I guess they get satisfaction that everybody behind them is not in front of them. That'll show them.
Somebody doing that 5 minutes before you got there just made you wait longer. In some states that's illegal. You can't impede traffic just because you feel like it. The lane is open until it's closed.
Everyone is just too damn impatient and inconsiderate. The same people who do that probably don't obey school drop off procedures, they just stop on the main road and let their kids run out into traffic. Rules are for everybody else to follow. Saps. "Oh no, that person might get in front of me! The horror! No! Can't happen".
It's not "cutting" It's "taking turns" Like we were taught in 2nd grade but many people forgot.
Super rich people are weird. We did a boat tour this summer near Fort Myers Beach, Estero Island. On the cruise they pointed out a house owned by Brett. The guy said he goes by there 3-4 times a day and for a few years has never seen anybody at the house. The windows and shades are always shut. This house is worth millions. Most of the houses along the water were small, 800-1200 sq foot that go for over $1M. This was a 2 story about 4000 sq foot. So weird. Just a tax thing? Something for a mistress to shut her up?
What I think they misunderstand is the acceptance that abortion bans, any of them, go into the issue of privacy rights overall. It won’t matter what carrot they offer. The GOP is going to be guilty of groupthink. They are in the distinct minority. The question obviously is how that translates into votes and non votes. But I think this being presented as a “hey elect us and you have nothing to worry about” isn’t going to work. It’s not abortion. It’s privacy.
Seeing what the states have done since Roe fell is all the people need to know their true intention. Nobody’s believing this is legit. It’s a starting point. It’s not moderate.
because the show is not easily digested. It requires discipline by the viewer to invest. You can't watch it while playing on your phone or folding laundry. You could have a great 3 minute sequence of no dialogue, just brilliant camera shots and framing of Mike building a hidden compartment in his closet. That shit don't work for the Emmys.
