When the right acts like our amendments are "God Given" and somehow sacred.... they insert a line that they then can claim they are incapable of crossing for religious reasons.

I just looked and I do.... In the Heat of the Night is on, the TV show, which my dad loved, and now I am watching and thinking of him and my slacker days in the 1990's where I would hear this kind of show in the background while I ate pizza and wondered what I was going to do all day. It's from 1993. My dad suffered a TBI the year I was born so there was that.... but imagine his excitement when he found the original movie on TV and realized that was the origin. "Hey look... see that guy... his name is Virgil... I'll be goddamn...."

If they were to go to fact based, like I think CNN used to be, right or wrong, when I was a kid, I would watch. But would enough other people? I want something that's not a bunch of people yelling at each other about. I prefer their coverage on election nights because John King with his board seems to play it straight while Wolf just stammers along like Jim Price, 2 steps behind the action. I miss the old CNN Headline News, the way it was. Watch for 15 minutes and you know what's going on. But they do have Robin Meade.

nope. And Dewey, even though he was a two time loser, still held enough clout with the bosses who matter. Dewey was instrumental in getting both Nixon and later HW Bush the attention of the party elite. How much history did he change without being POTUS?

Remember when Fox Sports Net was new? They used to troll ESPN with commercials about how they would be showing real sports and not some of the things ESPN was known for in the early days. They'd show what looks like some Easter European guys in a dungeon seated across from each other like you think they would start arm wrestling, then a guy would just slap the other one and everybody cheers. Loved those.

McCarthy wouldn't even be a thing. He's now the mainstream GOP. Ike would have been called a RINO. In '52 there was a real divide in the party when Ike announced he was a republican and would run. Taft was the America First candidate, sound familiar? He was strong in the midwest and south. Sound familiar? Ike was the preferred candidate by the establishment liberal NE wing of the party. Sound familiar? Overall Taft got more votes in the primary. Nixon was the concession add on to appease the hard cores.

Quick glance at Ingraham and she’s wondering where the hearings are for left wing riots. That’s the play by the right.

NASCAR banned confederate flags so I think they might be too woke for them

Wow. I had not. That’s cool.

Last night I made a “if I am in a coma put headphones on me and play these songs” list. I wanted longer songs with a jam flavor to them. Papa was a rolling stone since I’ve been loving you (live version) low spark of high heeled boys mountain jam (live version) in memory of Elizabeth Reed no quarter (live version) sugaree (Phil Lesh and friends from a festival in 2016)

"I wish these celebrities would keep their mouth shut about politics.... oh by the way did you hear what Ted Nugent said about Kamala...."

I remember you telling us that on the old board and ever since I always ask for it well. I had a great steak over the weekend at a place in Dearborn called Mint 29. Best one I've had in a very long time. Nothing special, just an 8 ounce filet but damn it was good. That place has been there for a while now but our first time going. 2 drinks, an appeitizer, 3 sides, and two steaks for just under $200 is not bad I don't think.

anybody's opinion worth hearing are already gone from the GOP in terms of any power or influence. Maybe a Adam Kinzinger. Wasn't Kasich on CNN? I do think it's important for balance but I'm not sure it's really relevant anymore for these shows. Everybody's locked in and nothing will break Fox's grip on the crazy people.

We finally took the Barry plunge last night. Was pleased to see 30 min episodes. We liked it. Got through 2 of them. I think we'll be doing that until we're caught up. I knew I would like it but I have to find things my wife likes too. That and Kenobi and Ms. Marvel should occupy us for the beginning of summer I think.

is it going to normalize the GOP's push to authoritarian white christian nationalism?

That would be a perfect George Carlin routine.... so spot on.

Off Day Topic: What do YOU hope to see the rest of the way?

Wednesday for us is pizza day because my wife and I go somewhere at 5:15 and we like to leave pizza behind for the kids. Been that way for 7 years. I used to get Hungry Howie's because their online system was convenient as I could order from work and then pick it up on the way home. When the pandemic hit and I was working from home we started supporting a local pizza place as I didn't need that convenience anymore. Not long ago circumstances meant I had to prepay and have my MIL pick it up so we went back to Hungry Howie's.... man it was bad. It wasn't that much cheaper either so we'll continue to support Joe & Reno's. -

The LC Deep Dish is not bad at all. Wouldn't be my first choice but I'd take it over Jet's simply due to cost if all you want is pepperoni on it. I saw a photo of Pizza Hut's detroit style and it was an abomination. -
If TB wins you'd have to go back to the Islanders in the early 80's for a 3 peat.

Reminds me of an old article I saw posted a few weeks ago about her when she was a teenager.... "The grooming of Kate Bush".

I don't think homosexuality is being pushed on anybody. Many Christians think even having something around is "shoving it down our throats". Is it endorsing something by wearing a patch? I don't think so. I just sense a lot of hypocrisy by certain people when they go after some forms of protest but demand acceptance when they do the same thing.

What I like about the show is I'm of the same age chronologically as the kids. Interesting tidbit on season 4 that's not a spoiler.... Eddie Munson has a big Dio patch on the back of his jean jacket. That was given to the production by Ronnie's widow because she's a fan. Loved my jean jacket.

We wrapped up Stranger Things over the weekend and it was enjoyable. Right amount of camp, nostalgia, and fear. I didn't think I would be as into it but they did a nice job telling the 3 stories.

The one good thing Trump did was expose guys like Cruz and Rubio was liars and weak cowards. Never let it be said I never complemented the guy.
