I think the article's point to link this to the Tigers is a bit of a stretch. This is a corporate culture issue within the Ilitch Organization. These are people who could be doing jobs anywhere. It's not about the baseball team, even if their current role relates to that job at the time. It's not the late 90's Tigers on the team plane harassing flight attendants. Even the Maybin and Monroe things are throw ins. Maybin didn't do what he did because of what happens in offices across the street. The Monroe situation appears to have gone nowhere and the team took that as a chance to cut bait with a story they didn't want to be a part of. Again, that's not because Bob in Accounting made a comment about Jan's butt. I think any investigation into a large conglomerate in this country would show this taking place. It's not condoning it obviously but when shown a group of 1,000 men there's still pigs around and that's the case with Ilitch Holdings.

I went to a concert at Pine Knob yesterday which meant I was occupied with getting ready and driving out there, etc. No time to really digest this. But my brief scrolling showed me lots of empathy and concern for someone who didn't do the same for others. He wasn't a nice person to people he disagreed with and in this situation those same people were nice to him and his family. I reject that in today's world "both sides are the same"

A good opportunity to point out that if Bill Freehan were in the HOF he'd be far from the worst person to be in there. He'd not even be the worst Tiger in there.

This game pissed me off. First time this year. Usually I’m level headed. But backing into the playoffs and losing a series when you possibly will have home field will be a bummer.

Much of the criticism of him is by people who don’t understand the current role of managers within the organization. It’s not like before.

You make it sound like a video game where as long as things balance out on paper, in your opinion, then the deal gets processed. Like a credit card transaction. Each org determines the value of who they want and who they give up. You don’t know what that value is, on either side, because you weren’t in on the discussions.

But I am not following the point of the distinction. In either scenario they are the AL Central champs and having nothing else to accomplish after 11 wins. Nobody will refer to them as the “outright” champions or anything but the champions if they happen to have the same record. They have earned the title by the basis of the rules in both scenarios.
