Hopefully Jobe can develop into a true #1. I worry the Tigers won't pony up for Skubal. If that's the case, we need Jobe to be the guy unless Mize turns out to be for real..... Quote
Arlington Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Jobe and no. 2 pick Jack Leiter have pretty much the same ML service time. Leiter was the college pitcher thought to have the quicker path. Same was said about Ty Madden a college arm whom the Tigers were thrilled to get with the 32nd pick. The Tiger with the most service time from that draft is former collegiate ... (answer in next post). Quote
Arlington Posted May 3 Posted May 3 (edited) the Yankees pick at #20 Trey Sweeney. EDIT That may be wrong. Brant Hurter was in that draft. Too lazy to look up service times but he may have beat out Sweeney. Edited May 3 by Arlington Quote
Tenacious D Posted May 3 Posted May 3 The Tigers have five 1st rounders on their roster and two 2nd rounders, if you include Parker who should be on the active squad. Quote

RatkoVarda Posted May 7 Posted May 7 sportswriters are desperate for the Tigers to draft Jack Bauer at 24 https://www.mlb.com/milb/news/mlb-pipeline-2025-mock-draft-may-6?t=mlb-draft-coverage 24. Tigers: Slater de Brun, OF, Summit HS, Bend, Ore. (No. 25) As a smaller, lefty-hitting sparkplug from the Pacific Northwest, de Brun has a lot of similarities to Corbin Carroll at the same stage of their careers. Quote

Shinzaki Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Saw a mock draft online that has us taking HS OF Slater de Brun in the first round and college RHP Riley Quick from Bama at 34. De Brun bats left...this would be the 4th year in a row a LHH was drafted in rd 1 and the third straight year a HS position player was drafted 1st Quote
RandyMarsh Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Law had us taking Quick and even speculated that he could potentially help us in the bullpen THIS year if we were inclined to go that route. Quote

LongLiveMaroth Posted June 9 Posted June 9 BA Mock Draft https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/2025-mlb-mock-draft-4-0-latest-first-round-pick-predictions-for-every-team/ 24. Tigers — Xavier Neyens, 3B, Mount Vernon (Wash.) HS Neyens remains a polarizing player who is hard to slot in mock drafts. The range of opinions on him is wide, and there are also some questions about how difficult he might be to sign out of his Oregon State commitment. Neyens has as much power upside as any player in the class, but he is less hitterish than a lot of Detroit’s recent picks. Coy James fits that bill a bit more and might be a fit here. 34. Tigers — Riley Quick, RHP, Alabama Detroit is one of a handful of teams who were scouting Quick heavily down the stretch. His arm talent would make him a great second pick for the Tigers. Quote
LongLiveMaroth Posted Friday at 06:57 PM Posted Friday at 06:57 PM MLB Pipeline Mock https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-pipeline-mock-draft-for-june-12-2025 24. Tigers: Steele Hall, SS, Hewitt-Trussville HS, Trussville, Ala. (No. 13) The Tigers have an affinity for high-upside prep position players, a description that applies to Cunningham, Hall, de Brun, Neyens, Hammond and Gamble Quote
