I had forgotten he was good-ish until he hit a wall coinciding with him catching mono in 2011. Then he was not good. The career end can be sudden for some. I thought it was the 0-fer in the HR Derby! Not sure if you were tracking the phenomena of him always being the player of the game no matter what his accomplishments because he had a female fan club (purported to be consisting of low-rent downriver gals). I hope he took advantage of that status and I hope he wore protection. Quote

oblong Posted Wednesday at 06:48 PM Posted Wednesday at 06:48 PM I think it's because it reminded white moms of their little boy playing little league. They can't relate to "The mexicans". Besides, they had a hidden bias agains tthem because they had mustaches and facial hair at 13 so they assumed they were older. But "my little Brandon..." Quote

Of course we are talking about this stuff that happened over 10 years ago like none of us went through it in real time. Good times. Quote

Yesterday my SO's mac kept going into overdrive and she mostly has a bunch of chrome tabs open, so I asked it how to stop background processing in Chrome on MacOS. It came up with a nice step by step. Total fantasy - no such menus, no such settings. It's their own damn browser! Edited Wednesday at 10:26 PM by gehringer_2 Quote
Tiger337 Posted Wednesday at 09:51 PM Posted Wednesday at 09:51 PM chat gtp is usually pretty good if you give it clear directions, although it recently told me I am married and have three children which suprised me. I am unmarried and have no children. I think they confused me with my father who has almost the same name. Quote

That jackweasel contributed nothing and was a bad human. He worse than contributed nothing. With his -0.9 WAR over the last 40 games, he actively cost us the division title. At least we didn’t have to give up any more than a schlub for him, although, being able to pry Aubrey Huff away from the Orioles for one low minors relief pitcher we got in the 4th round of the prior year’s draft probably should have been a steaming hot red flag to Dombrowski. IdahoBert Posted yesterday at 03:01 PM Posted yesterday at 03:01 PM A friend of mine is using Grok3 for academic research and it’s insanely good when you give it specific prompts with some specific nuances within those prompts. And it will spit out immense results filled with cross reference insights. Unfortunately, he had to buy it through Elon Musk and X. You can ask it questions which can lead you into various hot button issues and it will warn you that you’re entering a sort of iffy, cultural or social terrain but all you have to do is say “Grok stop lecturing me“ and it will because when this terrain is iffy in terms of racism, sexism, classism etc Musk is totally OK with that. ben9753 Posted yesterday at 03:54 PM Posted yesterday at 03:54 PM Grok is actually surprisingly good. It has less of the "AI" feel to its language, chatgpt is decent enough, but its language is kind of grating. Claude is the best for coding hands down. 1 Quote
1776 Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago The Pittsburgh Pirates announced the firing of manager Derek Shelton on Thursday, one day after their seventh consecutive loss dropped them to 12-26 on the season, currently MLB’s third-worst record. Bench coach Don Kelly has been promoted to manager, which general manager Ben Cherington initially announced in a team statement. Quote
gehringer_2 Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Should lot of peace and harmony oozing from the Boston dugout by the time they get to Det next week. DH Devers - already smarting from losing his 3B position to Bregman, announced the team has asked him to pick up a glove and go to 1st after the injury to Tristan Casas. Dever's reply? Stuff it. RandyMarsh Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago (edited) Ohtani's agent said they could've gotten a 15yr deal if they wanted but Shohei didn't want to agree to that and and up being a shell of his former self for the tail end of the contract. Hearing that makes me respect him even more, he could've milked out a likely extra 9 figures but didn't cause he cares about his legacy. Edited 4 hours ago by RandyMarsh Quote
