At Toledo it's the LH side OF depth which is pretty thin. Baddoo is it and he is off the 40 and he's not doing all that much at AAA anyway - though he's got a nice walk rate going. Then again, even with Carpenter down we still have 4 LH bats in Det that can play OF. Yeah my thought was more of a pick him up and then dump him if he doesn’t produce once Carp is back, and let the Malloys/Sweeneys etc focus on what they need to improve on in Toledo instead of riding pine in Detroit. The Guardian newspaper reports the outlook for the new Las Vegas stadium is not as rosy as alleged. It explains that financing for the stadium is highly problematic, due to rising construction costs in Vegas, and to the deficient acumen in these matters attributed to the Athletics owner. 1 Quote
IdahoBert Posted yesterday at 04:33 AM Posted yesterday at 04:33 AM Wow, Toronto beat the Yankees four games straight to move into first place in the AL East and the Yankees are tied for second place with Tampa Bay. Quote

I guess they have to bet quick because of the pitch clock...lol 1 Quote

The # number of pitch or the # of pitch in a certain situation like “my third pitch in the 4th inning” I actually have a friend who tells a story from years ago that someone told him to watch a random pitch in say the 5th ending would go to the backstop and he watched the game and it happened. it doesn’t mean the whole game is fixed (like my friend believes) but you can see how people can make a lot of $ on random things you wouldn’t expect and previously wouldn’t be caught. If it happened years ago, I’m certain it’s going on now. Edited yesterday at 07:47 PM by 4hzglory 1 Quote
papalawrence Posted yesterday at 09:57 PM Posted yesterday at 09:57 PM Sports leagues used to equate gambling to evil. Until they all sold their souls when they realized the revenue it could bring them. The sponsorships are all gambling now. It's not just Beasley in the nba and Ortiz in MLB. 1 Quote

Thank you for posting this. Very good update on the Fisher debacle. Manfred being complicit in this failed scheme is shameful. At least Stu Sternberg knew when the ruse was up. I can’t believe, according to this piece, that the A’s are valued the same as the Orioles were when they were for sale. 1 Quote

The hubris of these guys who are used to getting their own way all the time sometimes comes up against reality as an immovable object. He created this problem by refusing to work with the city of Oakland. Now it looks like the Athletics could be an MLB team without an MLB city to call home. You can’t just wave a wand and make a stadium appear out of a 3-D printer. It’s not a video game. Quote
