Cubs just made all three of their outs on the bases.

1. Out at home trying to score on a wild pitch

2. Picked off first

3. Picked off first

Did they clone 3 Milt Cuyler's?

Comes down to whether Mancini offers enough likely upgrade over Malloy, who is already on the 40 with a 900 OPS in AAA. At Toledo it's the LH side OF depth which is pretty thin. Baddoo is it and he is off the 40 and he's not doing all that much at AAA anyway - though he's got a nice walk rate going.

Then again, even with Carpenter down we still have 4 LH bats in Det that can play OF.

Yeah my thought was more of a pick him up and then dump him if he doesn’t produce once Carp is back, and let the Malloys/Sweeneys etc focus on what they need to improve on in Toledo instead of riding pine in Detroit.

was there some insane wager on that parlay that would lead one to think it was a fix?

Almost certainly not, but honestly, I hope so. I want to see players or teams caught throwing plays or games for gambling interests. How else do we have any chance to get this scourge out of the game, short of a player or his family being murdered by a disgruntled degenerate?

its got to be right under the surface.  If I were thinking it about my own team it would be...why do they lose one out of three games in a weekend series so consistently?

I want to believe OBT are so young and pure of heart and full of competitive adrenaline that they would never dream of giving up even a single play to a prop bet.

This is worth reading. The Guardian newspaper reports the outlook for the new Las Vegas stadium is not as rosy as alleged. It explains that financing for the stadium is highly problematic, due to rising construction costs in Vegas, and to the deficient acumen in these matters attributed to the Athletics owner.

This kind of thing was inevitable.  He's not a big enough star to protect, so they might nail him if they find anything.

To be honest, I had no idea people could bet on the outcome of a single pitch. I guess they have to bet quick because of the pitch clock...lol

It could be pre arranged.  The # number of pitch or the # of pitch in a certain situation like “my third pitch in the 4th inning”

I actually have a friend who tells a story from years ago that someone told him to watch a random pitch in say the 5th ending would go to the backstop and he watched the game and it happened.

it doesn’t mean the whole game is fixed (like my friend believes) but you can see how people can make a lot of $ on random things you wouldn’t expect and previously wouldn’t be caught.  If it happened years ago, I’m certain it’s going on now.

Sports leagues used to equate gambling to evil. Until they all sold their souls when they realized the revenue it could bring them. The sponsorships are all gambling now. It's not just Beasley in the nba and Ortiz in MLB.
