The elevation of McKinstrey's game has gone a long way to reduce the deficit of not having Vierling, but who knows how long Zach will stay at the level he's playing - in fact he's already come down to earth a good deal since May 1. Sometimes, When Breeding horses, a mare might be in heat, but she refuses to accept the desired stallion. In that case, a mare might be receptive to another stallion,so she is teased with the inferior male, and then the old switcheroo is done as the last moment. We were victims of the old switcheroo and we never destined for anything else. Quote

Hinch has multiple options for both 3rd base and RF. Vierling's defense in RF will be missed though. The other options aren't as good out there. Quote

Greene provides better defense and overall skill set so it makes a lot less sense to use him in that way. I agree 100%. But that doesn't mean Greene doesn't need to improve making contact. He's near the top of the league in strikeouts. Quote

Some of Greene's stats and where he ranks in the AL: RBI: 36 5th HR: 12 T-6th SLG: .495 15th OPS: .824 19th If he keeps up this level of production and defense, they can live with his Ks. I agree that cutting down on the Ks would be great, but not at the cost of driving in runs. Quote

Riley is among lead leaders in strikeouts. He's still a very young player and it IS a small sample size but at this point, it's not very impressive. Please stop referring to 40% as "almost 50%." According to the MLB radio guys on Sirius they were saying it is the same or similar injury that had him out for 2 months last year. Other reports suggest its more serious than a 10 day stint on the IL. The last thing this team needs is more people on the 60 day. Quote

Who knew? He likely will come back to earth. Would have been nice to have him as depth in Toledo, but he would only have received a shot with an injury, and only as interim. Quote

I mean, I get it, but is he going to play over Rogers or Dingler? While the bat would be nice, he's a negative on defense based on metrics, so I agree that I don't love losing people in the Rule 5; it's what happens when you're a good team. Lucky for us, we are also not hurting on the catcher front for prospects with Jimenez, Briceno, Liranzo. 1 Quote

It’s an owey but also shows Harris is adept at finding players in other organizations that seem overlooked. Quote

A player taken in the Rule 5 isn't really "let go." Given the roster crunch at the end off the offseason, somebody of value would have been DFA'd if Hicks was taking up a spot. Quote

Anytime you get rid of a career .400 OBP player, especially if they're on our team, I'm gonna be pissed. Dude gets on base. We don't need to "ask Pete" on this (hopefully you get this joke if you're a true baseball fan). I'll take a DH with a .400 OBP anyday. Quote

All the more reason to kick the tires on Maeda for a bit and see if there is something there. 1 Quote
