BA just did a statcast article and compared Lee to Marcelo Mayer and said it's much closer than people think.  Showed Lee is hitting the ball harder, than Mayer, but Mayer is getting better launch angle.  Lee has also been unlucky on BABIP (except for the past week). Mayer's defensive versatility gives him the overall edge as a prospect, but BA thinks they are very close.

Similarly, they compared Rainer and Konnor Griffin.  Rainer is hitting the ball harder and has better swing decisions, and his power is a notch better, where Griffin makes better contact when he chases.  They said they would pick Rainer now as a hitter and compared him to Jackson Holliday as a prospect.

I know Law said in one of his latest chats that he likes Rainer over Griffin as well.

This could be a big deal.

The Seawolves will have no input into the branding. If I’m a local to the Erie area, I don’t know that I’d be overly happy about this.
Overwhelmingly,  MiLB teams are resorting to gimmicky names and uniforms. I hope this goes well.

If I'm reading their FaceBook page, or at least the comments, it sounds like a one night thing. Been thru Erie a couple times. The only thing that stood out to me was the Lake Erie Perch and the fish hatchery with what seemed like thousands of flopping fish. But then I was about 6

Both him and Campos have prospect fatigue, I am holding out hope that this is more than a hot streak but I am not holding my breath.

Does Gage Workman also fit in this group  and of the three who do you think has the best chance of wearing the OLE English D ?

Workman isn't as young as those guys so not someone I would put in that group. I wouldn't be shocked to see Workman get a bus ride to Detroit once or twice. If I had to guess Workman is most likely because he's in AAA already. I think Campos has a significantly better chance than Pacheco though.

I spent the 1970s, years 9 - 20 in Jamestown, the National Comedy Museum town mentioned in the article.  We didn't have a lot to do but we never, ever thought of going to Erie to look for fun.  Have very few memories of it.  The fact that the authors had to look 50 miles to the east to tie into Jamestown is very telling.  Still not much going on there.

Jamestown btw has had teams in the Pony League, later the NY Penn League.  Not sure why they changed the name.  It was an A level team for the Tigers during much of the sixties.  John Hiller broker his arm riding a motorbike down the hill we used to sled on though that happened long before we moved there.  They were associated with the Expos while I was there.

Sure John will do a great job with the rebranding.  People will piss and moan about changing the name, but few will actually really care.  I man, it's not like they are the Mudhens.  That one in untouchable and if anyone submitted the Toledo team to Oliver for rebranding, they should be vanquished to Erie.

Wild one in Lakeland after two innings, nine runs, six hits and three errors. Balls are flying all over the place.

The FCL game with the Yankees had a ttl of 19 runs..ball must have been jumping indeed
