SoCalTiger Posted June 26 Posted June 26 The trade will be with LA and we will send Skubal and Jake Rogers for Dalton Rushing - one of Zayir Hope or Mike Sirota and one of either Emmett Sheehan or River Ryan. Quote
1984Echoes Posted June 26 Posted June 26 I don't think the Dodgers will be sending us their starting catcher. That would be like the Braves offering us Drake Baldwin and a couple prospects for Skubal. I would like one of Sheehan or Ryan, and Sirota... the 3rd guy is going to be another minor leaguer though, not their starting MLB catcher. Who else can even match that? If the Dodgers don't bite, we might not be able to get a package that is worth it... The Braves prospects suck. I don't want to do a deal with them unless it DOES include Baldwin, as well as JR Ritchie and Didier Fuentes... the only package they can put together that matches up with the Dodgers and the Braves AREN'T going to do that... So we'll need to look elsewhere. The Cubs maybe? Jaxon Wiggins and Josiah Harthshorn would be a great pair to start with and comparable to LA's best two offered... Quote

Although I like a lot of Dodgers prospects I can’t help but think they get the big market bump. Quote

At which Harris will have to make a decision, one way or the other. He can't wait until the day prior to the deadline, it doesn't work that way... Just my 2 cents. Every day they wait, they are playing with fire to an injury..... He should make the trade NOW. I still think it will be the Dodgers with a return of: De Paula Sirota Ryan Brady Smith I think the Tigers get all 4. Call me crazy. Guess we'll see.... Quote
Tenacious D Posted June 26 Posted June 26 You’re over-valuing Skubal. He needs a few starts to demonstrate he’s still Cy Young caliber. Plus, the Tigers are not going to surrender now. It will be a deadline deal, if at all. 1 Quote

Will Smith is LA’s starting catcher and I don’t think we want anything to do with Rushing. He seems like a head case. We don’t need another C—I’d rather get a 1B or RF and a decent SP in return in any trade. 1 Quote
Sports_Freak Posted June 26 Posted June 26 The Dodgers are 23 games over .500, with a 9 game lead in their division. They also have a plus run differential of 144. To think they will empty out their farm system for a 3 month rental isn't rational. Our best bet is to offer Skubal to a team that may face the Dodgers in the playoffs. That would be the team(s) that need his services. Quote

Yeah, the biggest reason the Dodgers would do it IMO would be to not have him go to a team like Milwaukee and have to face a 3 headed monster that matches or is better than their starters in a 7 games series. And also to give them a couple of months to have exclusive rights to negotiate with him for an extension. But IDK, they could go after even more players by using their prospects. All of their OF prospects for a 2 or 3 month rental? It would be nice, if we have to trade him. But...I just don't know. And I really, really don't put much faith in the clickbait speculation. Quote

Left handed hitting catchers are coveted though. Quote

I don't think they will go that high of an offer, but I do think Milwaukee's rotation (+ how dominate it would be adding SKubal to it) and prospect pool as well as the looming lockout have the potential to net more than a rental normally would. I still don't want to move him if we are .500 or above and within 3 games of the playoffs at the deadline. Quote

If he suffers another injury, it would alter the teams direction for the next decade. Doesn’t even have to be his fault—if he gets hit with a comebacker or collides awkwardly covering first base. 1 Quote

It's not going to alter the team's direction for a decade if they were originally planning on keeping him all season and letting him go for a draft pick. If anything, him getting hurt could positively help the long-term future as they may be able to sign him to a smaller short-term deal. 1 Quote

I don't know about anyone else... But I am so tired of Tork. If we could put Rushing at 1B and leave him there for the most part... (meaning he's really good at 1B and can maintain the .800 OPS he's currently at this year)... I am perfectly ready to move on from Tork this offseason. I've had enough of his underperformance. Just my 2 cents. 1 Quote

AlaskanTigersFan Posted June 26 Author Posted June 26 If we got Rushing, Sirota and Sheehan or Ryan, that'd be a no brainer. The Dodgers have 6 OF'rs who all project as every day starters in the minors with more behind them. And the draft coming up where they'll probably snag another one. All of their OF'rs are under contract for at least 2 years with most of them 4 years+... ( https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/los-angeles-dodgers/yearly ). The prospects are literally 100% trade bait. It is literally house money. It seems they like Quintero most who won't be called up till late next year or the year after that anyway...... It's not unreasonable to ask for two of their top four OF prospects and a pitcher. I think that's what the package will be. The Dodgers are just too well of an organization and they've done a great job developing players. They will replenish whatever they lose within the next four years that it won't even matter much. I don't think they pass on a WS with Skubal when it essentially costs them nothing to do it. Even if he is just a rental to them (which I think they'd sign him long term and also recoup some prospect capital by trading someone like Snell this off season anyway..........). But alas, just my humble opinion. Quote
Tenacious D Posted June 26 Posted June 26 For context, Flaherty netted Liranzo and Sweeney. That’s the floor. However, I don’t see the Dodgers emptying their OF prospects because they can. They won’t overpay, nor will other teams. If Harris cares about popular opinion, which I don’t believe he does nor should, he’ll hold onto Skubal and take the pick. No trade package will satisfy fans, especially with some of these mocks the national scribes are putting out there. The Tigers can always say that their focus is on retaining Skubal, and if he leaves, it wasn’t because the Tigers made every effort to keep him. They might also view receiving a draft pick in the 30-45 range as valuable as anything they receive in a trade return. 2 Quote

We definitely need some help scoring runs, trading Mize and Skubal may be our only choice. This is the same entire lineup slump we went thru to start the 2024 season and to end the 2025 season that was never addressed and corrected. Last night was a good example, a pitcher with an ERA close to 6.00 shut us down. Its like the whole team is pressing. That guy was all over the place and we were swinging wildly. We're not a playoff team... 1 Quote
