The Tigers are playing .000 ball (0 for 3) this season in games when they have a chance to move 20 games over .500.

They never do anything when it counts.

I remember in a previous season there was some kind of "getting over the hump" all season long... don't think it was .500 though.

Little update on pitching sequence.

The entire weekend reset the bullpen usage after the White Sox series. Skubal and Flaherty were dominant; Montero gave them 5+ innings. Hopefully Mize can straighten out.

last season between May 8 and June 11 they were within one game of 500 either way 22 times before falling back until the August run.  Also 2017 they hung around in May just under 500, got to 29-30 on June 8 then fell back.

I wonder what happened to that Greg Pappas guy. Has anyone gone over to Orioles hangout to troll them and offer up Jung and Malloy for Gunnar Henderson?

They just optioned Kjerstad down to AAA again. Bet they wish they could get Stowers back from Miami. I just popped over to the Orioles hangout, and they are very much doom and gloom over there.

I necessarily share a certain terrain with other fans as equally infected by their team as we are by ours and maintain a certain sympathy for them, but that doesn’t make me any less hopeful that their doom and gloom in the next three games is affirmed. In baseball not only is there no crying there’s no win/win.

Boog Powell. Bobby Grich. Brooks Robinson. Al Bumbry. Paul Blair. Rick Dempsey. Eddie Murray. Mark Belanger. Jim Palmer. Mike Flanagan.  There, I just wanted to see how many '77 Orioles I could name off the top of my head, from when I was 10 years old playing the All Star Baseball spinner game.

Not as good as I expected. Paul Blair was gone from the Orioles after 1976, Powell after 1974. Yes Robinson was still on the team but the starter at 3B was Doug Decinces. Bobby Grich left after 1976 - who the hell was Billy Smith? Did get Bumbry, Dempsey, Murray and Belanger. But forgot about Ken Singleton and Lee May. Got Palmer and Flanagan but missed SPs Rudy May and Ross Grimsley. Didn't even take a stab at relief pitchers. Oh well, still may be more than I could name from this year's Orioles without first sneaking a peek at tonight's starting lineup.

I enjoyed seeing the Red Sox lose last night on my phone just before I fell asleep and of course as my iPhone spies on my activity, it informed Facebook of what I was doing and this is what came up on Facebook just now.

All it took was one time, once, for Facebook to think I had forsaken the motherland and fatherland of baseball for me — the Detroit Tigers — for the algorithmically approved Boston Red Sox. It’s never thought of doing this for the Rockies or the Rays when I’ve watched those games, but when it comes to a “real team” like the Red Sox oh boy howdy, that’s red meat.

The early 70's Orioles starting staff is what I remember. Three 20 game winners in '70. Then to top that, in '71, 4 starters, 81 wins racked: Palmer(20), McNally(21), Cuellar(20), Dobson(20) with 69 complete games. Earl Weaver hardly got his cleats dirty walking to the mound the whole season.

Is it Facebook or iPhone spying? I don't use either, android for me. And I've never had a Facebook page.

Not from walking to the mound, from kicking dirt on umps. 😝

Here is one of the funniest clips on the Internet. It’s real, but a joke outtake “special” episode of Manager’s Corner with Weaver and host that obviously never made it to the air.

The pregame begins at 6 PM for all of you in the eastern time zone but for me 4 PM in mountain time. No chance for a collaborative two team FanDuel pregame show which was farcical during the series with St. Louis, because Baltimore is not FanDuel, but which I’d love to see again just for the awkward entertainment value involved. Wonder if there’ll be a Todd Jones sighting. He’s fallen off the radar for quite a while here.

I don’t know. It may just be coincidental. I enjoy complaining. The suggestion was never made when we scored 30 runs against the Red Sox.
