Sports_Freak Posted August 6 Posted August 6 3 runs in the 7th and 3 runs in the 8th. And then Finnegan for the 9th. Quote
chasfh Posted August 6 Posted August 6 Ooh McKinstry error on an easy ground ball. Dog days of the season bit him but hard. Quote
chasfh Posted August 6 Posted August 6 Notice on that replay how, on the Jahmai Jones throw to the plate, which would have been a perfect strike on a contested play, Jake knew the runner on third was not contesting it, so he moved out from behind the plate and cut off the throw in front chest high to put himself in a better position to make a play on the runners if he needed to? It's a super low percentage chance anything would happen, but he did it anyway. #GameWithinTheGame 1 Quote

Sports_Freak Posted August 6 Posted August 6 At least the people on X are all being reasonable and level headed about the Tigers losing a game... Said no one ever. 😅😅 Quote
GalagaGuy Posted August 6 Posted August 6 We've got the same record as the Yankees since the All-Star break, 7-11. Luckily we've still got a 7 game lead in the division while the Yankees are half a game away from being out of the playoffs. 1 Quote

I have an unhealthy investment in this team, and I need to be reminded of the value of approaching things rationally on occasion. Too often I crawl out on the ledge and threaten to jump when I should really just chill and see what happens the next day. The Tigers have every possibility of winning this series tomorrow. And winning series at home is the sine qua non of methodical success, which is what I should be looking for in the long run and not just cheap immediate boo-yah thrills. I was, however, primed for boo-yah thrills today. At least tomorrow’s game is a day game and I don’t have to wait too long for a sense of closure on this series. 1 Quote
IdahoBert Posted August 6 Posted August 6 It’s irksome - though to be expected - that no MLB team is a pushover. Looking at a schedule and relishing facing a certain opponent is usually a fool’s errand. I wish I would stop falling for this assumption. All teams are a pit of snakes out of an Indiana Jones movie. I thought if any team would be a pushover it would be the Twins who by expectations should be in a hospital room right next to the morgue but and this is not the case. We’re going to be facing a lot of AL Central Division opponents in the near future who are no longer treading water to the degree they were a few weeks ago. We’re headed into a decisive stretch. One of the aspects of baseball that I appreciate is that it truly is a game to game coin toss. In general, top teams win around 60% of their games and bottom teams win around 40%. That range is extended for the other major sports, something like 75%-25% for the NBA as an example. Quote
