I don’t know what to make of this. If any game seemed on the face of it a done deal this game should’ve been. It’s quite possibly an unfortunate blip on the screen, but in the larger context since briefly before the All-Star break 7–16 I’m not sure how many bold moves before the deadline could’ve affected this outcome for the better. It’s pretty disheartening.

I agree. Another back end reliever and mid rotation starter probably won't mean much if Mize and Flaherty continue to get nicked regularly. And Holton, Vest, Kanhle, and Hurter struggle. And it sure would be nice if Greene could snap out of this funk.

How do you lose 2 out of three to this trash team?

Interesting thing about the Twins. They traded everyone with a pulse from their bullpen. They didn't really tear down the offense, other than shedding a bad contract in Correa (who wasn't hitting) and dumping Castro.  Twins offense has been around middle of the pack all year and they kept 5 of their top 7 hitters (by wRC+). So to see them score a few runs is not surprising (not to excuse the god awful performance by Tiger pitchers in this series). The real surprise is that the Tigers couldn't dent their bullpen. That was depressing.

I was also confused on this part, The only thing that I can think of is that the pitchers for Minnesota didnt have enough appearances to be scouted and know their weak spots.

IMHO, they also need a better approach. To many were swinging out of the 'zone' big time. 'Control the zone' has gone away more so lately. With said we have to stop giving up so many runs or nothing is going to help. It puts a lot of pressure on the offense.

The one good thing about this great disappointment is that it occurred early enough in the day that I didn’t have to sit in expectation like a puppy waiting to be fed in relation to the position of the sun in the sky. Got the bad news over with quickly and early in the day.

Jays go 2 games up on the Tigers, beating Colorado 20-1 and sweeping the 3-game series by a combined score of 45-6. The Jays' 63 hits is an MLB record for a 3-game series.

Greene is overdue for a hot streak. Or so I hope

It's pretty sad when a "hot streak" for Riley would mean a whole game without striking out.........

It would be interesting to see how many games he has played this year without striking out at least once.

Or is this the real Flaherty and last season was the aberration?

I was a little surprised he got the deal he did coming back this year. He found his best self under Fetter last season. Maybe a bit too optimistic about the expectations of a repeat season from him.

But it makes for a miserable off day. Hinch should have the boys running laps tomorrow....lol

Now now, Riley Greene was the Tigers nominee last year, and Niko Goodrum in 2019. But yeah, a lot of Eric Haase, Matt Vierling, and Robbie Grossman in between.

I don’t think it’s black guys they’re avoiding giving the award … 😏

I’ve switched over to watching King of the Hill for a while. I like the trampy niece who goes to beauty school. Although this game is starting to get interesting.

Hank Hill living in woke Arlen in 2025 is an interesting twist.
