Philly has issues on both sides of the ball.

The last 2 games they played really weren't very impressive. I have no doubt the Lions could beat the Philly team I've seen the last 2 weeks.

I hope we get that version of Philly.

Also, what happened to that offense? Something is off. Was it that they lost linemen? Was it the OC? A little of each.

Football is a funny game.

Marino is still the last QB to make the Hall of Fame without a ring, so I think Goff will need to win one to get in. That's just the price of admission for QBs now.

Rivers is on the ballot this year, some say he will get in first ballot. How he fairs will be a good idea on where Goff is at in the HOF argument since I think they were pretty similar from a perception standpoint.

Both were viewed positively but never really got the love they probably deserved from the media and were never viewed as the tippy top guys at their positions.

Of course for Phil that was fair cause as good as he was he wasn't Peyton, Brady, Brees or prime Rodgers.

The issue for Goff is the perception changed when McVay dumped him. He was damaged goods if the offensive super genius couldn’t fix him.

I think Rivers was always held in pretty high regard in the league and sports media. I don't think there were the questions about him being among the best in the league that seem to continually surround Goff.

But you're right -- Rivers getting in should bode well for Goff.

I'm not sure Rivers is the right comp, at least at this point. Goff still has maybe ten years to play and he is playing with a loaded roster and one of the top GM/head coach duos in the league. Vegas would probably set the over/under on how many Super Bowls Goff is likely to win at 1.5. Maybe he won't get there, but we know Rivers won't.

Warren Moon was the last QB to get in without a ring. Goff is as good right now as Moon ever was. Probably better.

Goff holds the Lions team record for most playoff wins in the Super Bowl era.

I mean... that wasn't a very hard record to break, but yeah he does.

It's be more impressive sounding (to non-Lions fans at least) to say he as twice as many playoff wins in the SB era compared to all other Lions QBs combine!

What's the deal with McNeil? It sounded like Campbell was optimistic about him returning very soon and then I see he is out yet again. Is he or isn't he coming back early? He will be a real difference maker, and a big assist to our battered secondary even, once he returns.

It appears they are taking it slow.  As was said earlier, it is more important that we are ready for January than any game is in October.

You obviously want to win every game but seeing as it's an AFC team and on the road losing this one wouldn't be that damaging so wouldn't be the worst game to play it safe with in terms of health.

You are correct tactically, but emotionally it doesn't get much better in the NFL today than sticking it to KC.

Ah, I was off by one year. My point still stands, though, that it's rare for QBs to be inducted without a ring. I suspect Rivers will buck the trend, but I think he was universally respected in a way that Goff isn't. Might as well just win a ring and remove all doubt.
