So is there a combination of the Tigers winning and somebody else losing that would give us a home-field advantage?

Tigers beat Boston. Angels beat Cleveland.

Tigers win.  Guardians lose.

Must win unless Cleveland wins then it doesn't matter!

I disagree. With Toronto burning Gausman today, the 5 seed could be significant.

Both Cleveland professional sports teams playing today need to lose their games. Both Detroit professional sports teams playing today need to win.

It’s gratuitous to call the Browns a professional sports team given their ownership.

Using pregame Fangraphs odds of the individual games, our opponent chances are...

Host Cleveland 15.8%
At Cleveland 61.5%
At Toronto 16.8%
At New York 5.9%

Although batting average doesn’t say everything - obviously - what it does say is that in the last 15 games Riley has batted .161 and in the last seven games, Torkelson has batted .185.

Neither one of them are connecting bat to ball much. Can’t say that their absence from the lineup will hurt too much and they might be called upon to pinch hit.

Tork was having a great month up to about the 20th - 890 OPS, then he went cold. Probably among the guys that started pressing.

And it just feels like the guys have had some tremendously bad luck with BABIP.
