lordstanley Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Game time subject to change, as far as I understand. The Padres are on their way to forcing a Game 3, in which case the Tigers would either be playing at 1:08pm ET if the other two series also get extended, or at 3:08pm if one or two series finish today. If the Cubs come back to eliminate the Padres today and the other two series also wrap up today, then the Tigers would play tomorrow night. 1 Quote
oblong Posted October 1 Posted October 1 I have an eye doctor appointment appt at 3. I was going to move it but then I said screw it. I have a 90 day window that’s closing on these glasses they gave me. I might miss something awesome or something bad. Quote

Don't give that tired Cleveland bullpen any rest. Quote

Another reason to hate Mondays. Quote
Sports_Freak Posted October 2 Posted October 2 I would say Flaherty has a very short leash but who else is there? Keider Montero? Quote

Pulling Mize after 3 innings was not a smart move. We ended up burning Holton, and then Melton and Hurter. Keider is the only real long relief option if we get bad Flaherty tomorrow. Quote

I caught Zumaya's famous inning, but had to go into the office in the 9th inning. I was in the waiting room with no cell phone and there was a delay. So, I got up and ran to my car and caught the last at bat on satellite radio. Then I ran back in the office just in time for my appointment. It's good they didn't check my blood pressure. 1 Quote
IdahoBert Posted October 2 Posted October 2 Good to put game #2 behind us quickly @Biff Mayhem thank you. Good call! 💗 1 Quote
RatkoVarda Posted October 2 Posted October 2 feeling like they score either 1 or 2 runs, which won't be enough Quote
papalawrence Posted October 2 Posted October 2 I'm guessing we'll see Flaherty go 4, start to fade in 5 and AJ will have a quick hook. Probably Finnegan, Holton, Hurter and Vest take it from there. Tigers break out and take it 7-4 Quote
IdahoBert Posted October 2 Posted October 2 I’m honestly not holding my breath for them to do something good, but it seems that they can’t falter forever. Just winning one more game would leave a more pleasant taste in my mouth, than ending the season on so ignominious a note, at home no less. Quote
holygoat Posted October 2 Posted October 2 Someone tell them the calendar flipped to October, so they can be good again already. Quote
lordstanley Posted October 2 Posted October 2 (edited) I’ll take my cue from a man who knows his team way more than any of us do. AJ Hinch showed us today he has no confidence in his #2 pitcher and no confidence in supposedly our #1 hitter. That, and the Tigers’ track record of losing one big game after another the past 3 weeks, points to a 5-2 loss on Thursday. I will watch and root, because Tigers playoff baseball is always better than no Tigers baseball, but my expectations are low. Edited October 2 by lordstanley 1 Quote
CaliforniaDreaming Posted October 2 Posted October 2 I like Jack pitching in this situation. He was pitching in the World Series last year. This game won't be too big for him. Hopefully that means we get his good version for 6 innings. Quote
oblong Posted October 2 Posted October 2 I'm not emotionally invested in this team. They lost me during the last week of the season, maybe the Friday Boston game. If they win, I'll be happy, but if they lose I won't let it ruin my day. Frankly, if they win, then they'll be back to where they should have been in mid september. Except they won't have home field. IdahoBert Posted October 2 Posted October 2 Whoa, I had no idea that the Tigers’ punishment for backing into the wild card was that all three games would be played in Cleveland. This third game does not even return to Detroit? I guess this shows how little I actually know about postseason wildcard play because being in the postseason is a distant memory when it comes to the Detroit Tigers. Honestly, baseball doesn’t exist for me unless my team is playing. It’s hard for me to care about watching a game I don’t personally have a stake in. Quote

Bert, same here. I didn’t realize this either until last night. Quote
