lordstanley Posted October 7 Posted October 7 So given that the Tigers were considered underdogs by everyone going into the series, if a Great Spirit offered a deal tonight of a split of the next two games, reducing the series to a one-game winner take all with Skubal on the mound, would a Tigers fan accept that offer? I’d say no, need to win both of these games. Not to mention doing so would save Skubal for the beginning of the ALCS. 1 Quote

It’s not clear cut to me. I think when a team has been slumping and is the underdog, chances of pulling an upset are better in a best of 1 which is better than in a best of 3 which is better than in a best of 5, and so on. Better team tends to prevail the larger the sample size. Plus that one game would be with Skubal starting. So does home field give you a bigger advantage than having your ace starting does? Quote

If this series goes five games and the Tigers win, then the pitcher who pitches the opener of the next series would pitch three times if it goes 7 games.
