If nothing else he can be a 6th/7th/8th starter for Detroit (in Toledo) pending 2026 seasonal/ injury needs. I don't see anything about a minor league salary option like Manuel Margot signed last year. They have to pay $7 million and I think he would have to agree to go to the minors (Maeda did for rehab). Just because they want him to start doesn't mean he can't be put in the bullpen. The option could be interesting in 2027 with a few starters as potential free agents. Quote

Maybe, hopefully. Last year Harris offered Cobb 15 right out of the gate. I highly doubt any other team offered him anything close. Harris showed a history of going in with an offer he sees as market rate and he's been off before Quote

I think it would veer more towards long man/6th starter when needed, or to cover a missed start or a few... So at least partially a starter... But just guessing here... Quote
Tiger337 Posted Tuesday at 04:54 AM Author Posted Tuesday at 04:54 AM That's a lot for Anderson. The Tigers invited him to Spring training in 2024 and he didn't make the team, so they must really see some tangible changes in the way he pitches. Quote

He added a pretty effective change-up (I mean, for Korea) that they liked... And I think improved his command and is missing more bats with the combo... We'll see how he does coming back to the U.S. soon enough. Quote

IdahoBert Posted Tuesday at 05:42 AM Posted Tuesday at 05:42 AM Saw on the MLB app on my phone that Harris said there were “no untouchables” on this team and that he’ll act with “due diligence” and listen. I’m still not expecting earthshaking changes but whatever. Maybe the “college boy“ routine is a cover up for the fact that he can get tough the way that other “college boy” Michael Corleone did. It would be exciting to see him do something stupendous. I think this may qualify as being “optimistic.” Quote

That's how you can square the circle between the Tigers wanting ML players or at least ML ready players back but the shoppers who are contenders who want a Carpenter or Mize or Greene or even Skubal want to offer prospects back. But engineering a 3 way trade is going to be quite the leap from a guy who has hardly dipped his toes into serious trade waters since he's been here. 1 Quote

I am looking forward to a screaming headline mentioning SCOTT HARRIS and 3-WAY together to see how adroitly it’s handled given the fact that proofreading is a lost art in journalism. 1 2 Quote

It's only a shame for the sake of your headline that it's unlikely the team from Minnesota will be involved.... 2 Quote
papalawrence Posted Tuesday at 12:03 PM Posted Tuesday at 12:03 PM In Harris' briefing he mentioned not bringing in free agents that will block young players. Per free press interest in Bregman is "low." I interpret that as no big splashes. Probably Keith at 3rd, Javy at SS. One of Lee or Anderson is probably on the team. I still expect a couple new relief pitchers (or one and Finnegan). Hoping one of King or Gallen or similar will be added to SP rotation. But I will temper expectations and expect Harris to mostly run it back. Quote
chasfh Posted Tuesday at 12:21 PM Posted Tuesday at 12:21 PM Harris did say on the Network yesterday that he has some holes to fill on the roster. Quote

kdog Posted Tuesday at 01:37 PM Posted Tuesday at 01:37 PM They have no starting pitching signed beyond 2026 and nothing in the high minors. It's both a short and long term need. I don't get how waiver claims and minor league signings is the way to go. I don't see any swing and miss bullpen guys in the minors either. Just a strange way to build a major league team. They just roster hoard and think that they will win on the margins. The 'on the margins' moves like short term pitching contracts have been epic wastes of money..I just don't get it. 2 Quote
IdahoBert Posted Tuesday at 02:07 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:07 PM “College Boy” is just a way of making fun of people who disparage education as a mark of inauthenticity although they would scratch their heads at the use of the term “inauthenticity” and utter resentful banalities about “the wisdom of the common man” being slandered. They’re the same people who are against the practice of the term “doctor“ being used for anyone except a male MD. 1 Quote

It sold well to the hard scabble middle class. His Midwestern VP who went to a B1G school was the one who refused to back the RVN against the NVA but probably because he didn't want riots. True, but they do have Olson, Jobe, Melton, Gibson-Long and Montero under team control. But I do agree, without additions there could be a significant step backwards Quote
kdog Posted Tuesday at 02:43 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:43 PM And if you're a long view guy, then you have to be consistently churning the roster with trades. There is a business reason to hold on to Skubal for another year. If they trade him now, it will be disaster at the box office. Quote

Melton is unproven. There are lot of eggs being carried in the Jobe and Olson baskets. Might work out, but that's not much depth given the rate of pitcher wastage. Quote
