So...

Worth a shot in spring training.

If nothing else he can be a 6th/7th/8th starter for Detroit (in Toledo) pending 2026 seasonal/ injury needs.

I don't see anything about a minor league salary option like Manuel Margot signed last year.  They have to pay $7 million and I think he would have to agree to go to the minors (Maeda did for rehab). Just because they want him to start doesn't mean he can't be put in the bullpen.

The option could be interesting in 2027 with a few starters as potential free agents.

Anderson $7 million with a $10 million team option for '27.

Way more than I would have thought.  That’s a good thing—must have been a market for him.

Maybe, hopefully. Last year Harris offered Cobb 15 right out of the gate. I highly doubt any other team offered him anything close. Harris showed a history of going in with an offer he sees as market rate and he's been off before

slipping in a little DD speak!

OK I can concede that.

But even if it's bullpen, I don't think it would be pure bullpen.

I think it would veer more towards long man/6th starter when needed, or to cover a missed start or a few... So at least partially a starter...

But just guessing here...

That's a lot for Anderson.  The Tigers invited him to Spring training in 2024 and he didn't make the team, so they must really see some tangible changes in the way he pitches.

They commented specifically on that.

He added a pretty effective change-up (I mean, for Korea) that they liked... And I think improved his command and is missing more bats with the combo...

We'll see how he does coming back to the U.S. soon enough.

We will see how that translates to the United States.  I am not expecting much, so anything he adds will be a bonus.

Saw on the MLB app on my phone that Harris said there were “no untouchables” on this team and that he’ll act with “due diligence” and listen. I’m still not expecting earthshaking changes but whatever.

Maybe the “college boy“ routine is a cover up for the fact that he can get tough the way that other “college boy” Michael Corleone did. It would be exciting to see him do something stupendous.

I think this may qualify as being “optimistic.”

If a big trade is going to work, I think it has to be multiple teams - like the Ganderson/Scherzer deal. That's how you can square the circle between the Tigers wanting ML players or at least ML ready players back but the shoppers who are contenders who want a Carpenter or Mize or Greene or even Skubal want to offer prospects back. But engineering a 3 way trade is going to be quite the leap from a guy who has hardly dipped his toes into serious trade waters since he's been here.

I am looking forward to a screaming headline mentioning SCOTT HARRIS and 3-WAY together to see how adroitly it’s handled given the fact that proofreading is a lost art in journalism.
