MichiganCardinal Posted July 17 Posted July 17 For context: He’s also the bell cow running back of this team. It shouldn’t surprise anyone if he misses days of training camp, whether for injury or just load management. He’s probably #2 on a list of guys who would be the most devastating to the team if lost for a period of time this year. I really don’t care if he misses all of camp. I know he’ll be ready when he gets the rock against New Orleans week #1. Quote

Well. Losing Goff would be. Though we definitely have the best backup QB in league history who has a law in Florida named after him. So there’s that. Let’s hope none of that happens. Quote

Hmmm... but that begs the next question(s): Can a backup QB (in a time of necessity and prior to the trade deadline) be picked up that could keep the Lions above water? Or can a backup RB be picked up under the same circumstances that is adequate enough to still run a competent-to-well-above-average offense? Which is easier to obtain? I think I already know the answer, it would be the RB... But... a losing team, with a competent veteran QB that is shepherding a young QB that has taken over the starting job... Maybe? There would be a cost... Quote

Motown Bombers Posted July 24 Posted July 24 Apparently no Lions player has ever been to the east side. Quote

I'm not kidding at all, we are 2 miles from the stadium and can hear the show. There is nothing at an UM/OSU football game that even remotely approaches that kind of volume. This is actually pathologically dangerous (and foolish) for these poor people. Edited July 25 by gehringer_2 Quote
holygoat Posted July 25 Posted July 25 I lived on the north side of Pasadena for a couple of years, about three miles from the Rose Bowl, and one night I hear someone jamming U2 outside my house for like a half hour. I finally went out to see who it was, and yeah, it was U2 at the Rose Bowl. Quote

Every single time you insult you ears turns the knob a little more on when you will start losing your hearing. And hearing loss correlates very strongly with dementia. Mr.TaterSalad Posted July 26 Author Posted July 26 Does this mean Kerby is out for the first four games of the season now? Don't they have to sit out the first four games if they go on the PUP list during camp? Quote

Mr.TaterSalad Posted July 27 Author Posted July 27 Not a good look that we went from I won't be on the PUP list you can bet on that to please say a prayer for me in the matter of a day. Something tells me Kerby will be out for a while. Quote
Motown Bombers Posted July 27 Posted July 27 So it begins. Williams is probably in the best shape of his life. Quote
MichiganCardinal Posted July 27 Posted July 27 I don't believe anything Kerby Joseph posts on social media. He posted the rabbit with the clock meme like every week last year. He just spouts nonsense depending on the day. I believe he will play this year. If his knee made him a complete lost cause, the Lions would have released him or otherwise found a way to offload him for long-term cap savings. They've barely paid him any of his $88MM extension. That said, I don't believe he will participate much in camp or play in the preseason and I don't think he will play in all 17+ games. I think that knee is going to be good for a certain number of miles, for this season and for the rest of his career. And I think the Lions will try to be smart about getting the most out of those miles. At best, it will be a Frank Ragnow toe or Taylor Decker shoulder situation, where he can play through it most weeks, but load management takes him out of short week turnaround situations. At worst, I think he plays a week or two early in the season, it flares up, and he's placed on IR, then probably released before this time next year. Quote
Motown Bombers Posted July 27 Posted July 27 The Lions can't release him. It's cheaper just to keep him on IR. Quote

I'm sure he'll get back on the field at some point but the Kerby we used to know and love is for all intents and purposes likely done. I expect the same with Branch, I can't see either returning to their pro bowl form. Quote

MichiganCardinal Posted July 28 Posted July 28 (edited) The terrible sports better with the even worse site, WalterFootball, is predicting a Lions vs. Bengals Super Bowl. Lions go 12-5, emerge as the two-seed NFC North Champions. Beat the 7-seed Bears in the Wildcard, 4-seed Saints in the Divisional, and 1-seed Rams in the NFC Title Game. In true WalterFootball style, he has the Bengals winning the Super Bowl because, "... Jared Goff struggled in his only Super Bowl and even forgot his own snap count on one play. Burrow, conversely, was terrific in his sole Super Bowl, albeit in a loss." Making predictions in 2026 based upon a single snap in the February 2019 Super Bowl is probably not the wisest betting strategy, but I don't own a terrible site so what do I know? If Shough takes another step it's not crazy to think they could come out of the worst division in football. They have a good offensive line and a decent defense and 9-8 will probably get the job done. Not so sold on them making it out of the wildcard round. Quote
