I think they got a lot of this backwards. Comparing Abdul to Slotkin just doesn't work. Abdul is the Hill Harper candidate. He outperformed Harper. Stevens was the Slotkin. The environment in 2024 favored Republicans. Trump won Michigan. I believe Benson will win comfortably so Abdul does not need to split tickets. I would also like to know how many voted for Stevens simply because they thought she was more electable? Unlike 2024, the normie Dems are already backing Abdul and not going to rat**** him like he did to Biden.

yeah - A #1 is that Trump is not on a ticket in this election. Totally different dynamic. El-Sayed will have his problems but they won't be Slotkin's.

Disgusting race baiting and Islamophobic attacks are what they've got. It's going to be a nasty race and probably one of the most vile campaigns we've seen since Obama ran in 08 and 12. Abdul brought part of this on himself hanging around with Hasan Piker, which was and is a mistake. Piker only detracts and distracts from the campaign itself. Given his comments around 9/11, Abdul should have not been within a 1,000 miles of the guy as it only gives Republicans ammunition to attack you. I will say though, that even if Abdul had never campaigned with Piker, they'd still launch a tirade of ugly attacks and smears against him for being a brown-skinned, Muslim man named Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed.

Florida's Mike Rogers doesn't have **** to campaign on because his President that he bootlicks for 24/7 has run the economy into the ground reigniting inflation and high gas prices. He's too busy carrying Trump's jock to distance himself from Trump or dare criticize the Dear Leader. So he's going to have to resort to nasty, bigoted, attacks and smears on the campaign. I did see a Mike Rogers TV ad where he was talking about education and restoring shop class in all schools. Yeah Mike, I don't think getting shop class back in every school is top of voters minds when inflation is running at 3.5% and the national average for a gallon of gas is still very high.

Even though he wasn't my first choice I am enjoying all of the rage hatred the GOP is partaking in right now which I think more than off sets any concerns I had about his electability.   The people are tired of that **** and that will actually drive the moderates toward him.  Mike Rogers already said something about Michigan "not looking like it used to".  We all know what that means.....  "there's a lot of brown folks around here...."

I mean.... people who support a racist, rapist, and pedophile telling me not to vote for a Muslim.

I would advise him to embrace it. When people bring it up talk about how names are built up by generations in Arablic. There are a lot of ways he can leverage talk of ME culture to shift people's view from "he's too exotic" to "that's kinda interesting"

I don't know what feeds it ran on but AEL just ran an ad during the game with his old parents on a couch looking very Rockwellesque and then he pops up behind them. Both Americana and comic.

So, I stumbled into a Facebook flame attack when I criticized Elon Musk for something on there on a more public post and all his AI army and associated trolls came at me with a lot of hate about Michigan becoming a Muslim state.   Just the most lame low effort stuff.  I expect more from Bangladeshi internet trolls and their AI friends.

I know it won't happen, but I think Jocelyn Benson should offer the job of Lieutenant Governor to Calvin Johnson (Yes, that Calvin Johnson from the Lions). Calvin is a Democrat. He endorsed and campaigned for Kamala in 2024. He is a small business owner in the State of Michigan. He is a beloved figure who can help you win based off of his popularity and iconic status as a sport star in Metro Detroit. He has universal name recognition in the state and in Detroit. He adds diversity in race and ideas to the ticket.

She should give that slot to someone with executive level experience.

Do you care more about winning or governing? Hillary would have been a better President than Trump, trouble is, she didn't win. If Jocelyn doesn't beat John James, the experience matters not. It's proven that people love celebrities and want to vote for them for public office. Donald Trump, Ronald Reagan, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Al Franken, Jesse Ventura, Dave Bing, Jim Bunning, Bill Bradley, Steve Largent, Heath Shuler, Jon Runyan, Kevin Johnson, etc. Celebrities and sports stars bring you name recognition, notoriety, and are often beloved for their fame. Calvin Johnson is all of those things. Plus, Calvin is a Democrat, he endorsed and campaigned for Kamala, he's an intelligent man, he's a small business owner in Michigan (albeit weed shops). If you want to win, Calvin makes a lot of political sense.

Benson is going to win so I care more about governing.

Please don't talk like this. Hillary was going to win in 16 and Leon Lett was guaranteed to score a touchdown. You don't know what will happen and you can't get overly confident. Democrats needs to unite and win. We're as broken as ever after that nasty Senate Primary in Michigan. Calvin Johnson could be a great unifier for the party because everyone loves Calvin.

She's going to be my governor when I return circa spring 2030 to Michigan so I want her to run a tight and effective ship.

Benson should choose a person who can run the state when she's term limited and who will not be a drag on her candidacy.   It does not automatically mean Calvin Johnson of the Detroit Lions is that person.

Was Hillary going to be your President too? Look, I made the mistake of thinking Hillary was going to win in 2016 and so I whined and complained about having to vote for her. In the end, I voted for her, knocked doors for Democrats (not her specifically) and she didn't win. All I am saying at is, we can't assume the Democrats are going to win, Jocelyn or otherwise. I think a guy with the notoriety of Calvin helps increase your chances in the win category. It likely won't be Calvin, but I think he'd be an interesting choice.
