  1. Past hour
  2. I mean it ranks below his Nazism, domestic abuse, rape and murder fetishes, and pathological lying. Oh, and there’s no track record of him being a progressive and he’s voted for Collins in the past. Yeah, it’s all we have left.
  3. Give me this as a pitching staff in the near future: Skubal/Valdez/Mize/Flaherty/Melton Madden/Montero/Anderson/De Jesus/Sommers/Jansen/Finnegan/Vest Holton and Hanifee can go to Toledo and work some stuff out. Holton can come back if Sommers struggles. Verlander can “have soreness” and go to the 60-day DL and maybe come back when rosters expand to finish out his career.
  4. That's already baked in, apparently, and primary voters voted around the issue. If it is truly a disqualifying issue, the voters will reject him in November. It's all people have left for dismissing the guy. Unless people are harboring fantasies of him getting run off the ballot before November and replaced with a perfect progressive paragon?
  5. Yeah I’d honestly rather have the multi inning guys right now rather than the one-inning wildcards like Brieske. Madden and Montero have at least been pretty consistently solid.
  6. One of the lovely people Trump pardoned, that would be a likely recipient of the slush fund money.
  7. Franyerber starting his rehab today!
  8. This is very good, just needs several random Caps or All Caps to be spot on.
  9. I am very concerned about the goalie situation. Neither of these guys are very good. I have my doubts if the backs in front of them can avoid hanging them out to dry by making massive mistakes.
  10. Mexico starts today. Think at 3 p.m. Will be at a work function so I'm going to miss it.
  11. I know. I remember that game well. They actually had a decent shot at winning that game. Realistically this is about what you can hope for at its highest level at the World Cup. I don't think this cycle's team is that team either. That squad seemed to know what it's identity was, embraced it and got the most out of its squad. What I remember about that cycle was how close they came to not making the World Cup (yes and no). It was the first time I really followed the process of World Cup qualifying and the US had to beat I think Barbados in its final game of the semifinal group stage round just to qualify for the final round-robin round. I was nervous figuring anything can happen, but the US crushed Barbados pretty easily. I could be wrong about this but I think the 2002 cycle was the start of the series of 2-0 wins the US had against Mexico during World Cup qualifying tournaments. ------------- One tournament I remember well was the Confederations Cup (that tournament they used to host a summer before the World Cup in the country of the World Cup host) when the US advanced to the final and lost to Brazil in the final. I can't recall the cycle to be honest. That was a small tournament, but a fun one to watch.
  12. I agree like the Thailand league or maybe Laos.
  13. Today
  14. The point that is being missed here is that Platner's whole deal was that he is a working class stiff who supported himself with his oyster farm. It is all a con job.
  15. Then the VA should re-evaluate him and, if he falls short of the 100% rating, reclassify him. I assume they were to ones to approve his rating, so they're the ones that need to re-evaluate him. Ball's in their court.
  16. and outplayed germany for most of the game. (although they were lucky to male it out of the group. it required a complete implosion by portugal against s. korea when the koreans were actively trying to lose. people forget how corrupt that world cup was seeing how many decisions suddenly went korea's way in the knockout stages.)
  17. And for fun, here's the criteria for a 70% mental health rating. Occupational and social impairment, with deficiencies in most areas, such as work, school, family relations, judgment, thinking, or mood, due to such symptoms as: suicidal ideation; obsessional rituals which interfere with routine activities; speech intermittently illogical, obscure, or irrelevant; near-continuous panic or depression affecting the ability to function independently, appropriately and effectively; impaired impulse control (such as unprovoked irritability with periods of violence); spatial disorientation; neglect of personal appearance and hygiene; difficulty in adapting to stressful circumstances (including work or a worklike setting); inability to establish and maintain effective relationships.
  18. They have done this before. They made it to the quarters in 2002.
  19. Medical "reminder" apps like MyChart and whatever your local doctor/hospital uses. These are great for sending out things like test results, and reminders about appointments and such. However I think they seem to be getting out of hand. I received at least 6 reminders each for upcoming appointments. They are constantly coming up in my texts and e-mail. I mean, ok, I have an appointment for next week, month, whatever. I don't need a reminder right after the office scheduled it, one an hour later confirming it etc. The latest was for a series of rehab sessions. It's a 12 week session twice a week. I received 24 texts about it this morning... I guess that's what it takes to keep us responsible adults these days.
  20. OK, that was pretty good.
  21. If we had to send down four pitchers to bring up three starters and a reliever, man, I'm not 100% certain who it would be. Brieske and Hanifee, for sure. Madden, I guess, because he has three options left. The fourth? That's a tough call, but I would probably go Montero, so he could get regular trigger time in Toledo.
  22. TBI from an IED explosion seems fairly 100%ish to me. Every other vet I meet brags about their 10% for loss of hearing or what not they are getting. I never even considered it, I wouldn't want to look a Tammy Duckworth in the face for doing that.
  23. Skubal and Casey are definitely coming back this weekend. It might be another week to get back Jansen, assuming not injury setback, which might "happen" if he can't get back on the horse. If Verlander ever does make his way to Detroit, it will be as a sort of legacy mascot, if he will agree to that, which he might not. Either way, I have my doubts as to whether he is ever going to go between the lines for us anymore.
  24. I hope they keep Madden. They need all the bullpen help they can get and Montero and Madden can give them multiple inning stints.
